"Getting games into the kids" was a massive part of our development problems. If you aren't made to work hard to earn your place you aren't going to respect it.

Practice Match - Melbourne v Hawthorn @ Casey Fields
Pipefitter replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I didn't see the game, but from the press conference, the vibe I got from roos was he wanted to put his game style and list up against the best team in the comp, one on one to see how it stood up. I can't imagine him panicking over a scratch match, putting numbers behind the ball so maybe we get a "respectable" 50 point loss instead. What would he learn then? -
These things are never 2-3 weeks. Remember Jesse pulled up sore one training session with the knee, said he'd be back in full training within a week, and he was out all of January.
-
Its not such a big thing that Jesse Hogan will be eased in as 19 year old. It just makes the complete inability of Clark and Dawes to hit the park even more frustrating.
-
Lets wait till more news "develops".

Just going on the NAB match i reckon Howe.

Coming by round 5 - the Roos blueprint
Pipefitter replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I listened to the game on triple M. Chris Dawes was special comments in the 3rd term. What really pleased him, and myself as well, was he said they were playing like they trained. This hasn't happened for a long time. Paul Roos is such a difference. It shows how easily a game plan can be picked up if its well communicated, and tailor made to our list. Neeld failed in both aspects of this. -
Has anyone given thought to the idea that his manager is trying to up his contract? From what i have read his last one was pretty modest.

The airport and souvenir shop ideas are great. The fact that such an idea was brushed over is just another example of how out of touch the previous admin(s) have been. I know in my travels around the world I've bought plenty of soccer, basketball tops etc of cities I've been in as a memento, regardless of whether i support them or not. These are additional sales, and more money is good money. If we want become the biggest club, we have to act like the biggest club. Promoting ourselves as the flagship of our game at airports can only bring good things.

Training - Monday 6th January, 2014
Pipefitter replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Could just be blind ambition though. There are definitely players who will improve on our list under Roos, but if Blease is struggling to keep up with the laggers on our list, Jesus himself wouldn't get much more out of him. -
I remember being a kid at Victoria park when we beat them by 9 points. 1991 IIRC, was waving my flag at the end and was abused. I would have been 8 I reckon. They've always been a charming bunch.

I think Blease will be gone at the end of the year. Kid can seriously play but obviously lacks afl level fitness. -
Riding the reality train.

It's refreshing to hear that theres a real footy focus at training now. All we kept hearing the last few years was about different variations of running drills.

People get seduced by "pace", "explosiveness", etc. Freeman could be the next Dangerfield, or he could be the next Simon Buckley.

Who would you like to see "Rip it up" in 2014
Pipefitter replied to GrandOld's topic in Melbourne Demons
No pressure, but HOGAN. If this kid comes in and does a Carey things will change around here very quickly. -
Barrett peddling his usual crap about the Demons
Pipefitter replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
He has got to learn his place in the footy jungle. At being a dirt finding, looking through ben cousins rubbish bin, new idea trash journalist he is the best in the business. But for him to understand a good drafting strategy? Spare me. Such a [censored]. -
Time and a place. I don't see any other coaches throwing press conferences in October either. They are letting the trades do the talking and I'm liking what I'm hearing.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BERNIE VINCE
Pipefitter replied to Ted Lasso's topic in Melbourne Demons
In his best and fairest year he was one of the best midfielders in the comp. Lets hope he can recapture that form. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BERNIE VINCE
Pipefitter replied to Ted Lasso's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pay him heaps the first 2 years, so if he only gets 3 years out of his body then we won't be paying out much. -
Guys, instead of debating the validity of the "rumours" can we debate the worth of the players coming to melbourne? Its just a bit of fun guys. Loosen up FCS.

Best result for both parties. Big fan of Jamar. He's been a loyal club man, and he's always an encouraging voice on the field. All the best.

So, where to from here with pick 2?
Pipefitter replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know. All I'm saying is that this is the calibre of players that are expected when trading these picks.
