It was Darren Jolly. Also just mentioned on the Ch9 footy show.
-
Game Day on Ch7 this morning mentioned that Darren Jolly was spotted catching up with Paul Roos and Brett Allison, and could be heading to Melbourne.

Has Josh Mahoney secured the GM of Footy Ops job?
Spirit of '87 replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
If it's a done deal that they've secured Geoff Walsh, as many seem to be saying, then I'm curious to know what they'd be waiting for in terms of announcing it, given that he's already left Collingwood and their season is now over? -

Hogan when I first read that line I thought you were suggesting that JC never existed, but then I realised that you were perhaps referring to Neeld - I've been in denial about Neeld for a long time now too, trying to tell myself that he never existed.
-
And Maldon I'd add to that list: Improve playing group via trade period/draft/development

AAP are reporting that Brisbane have given up on Paul Roos as their new coach. Apparently chairman Angus Johnson said that Roos ruled himself out last week due to family reasons. Depending what those family reasons are, that may rule him out for the MFC job too - unless his family just don't want to live in Brisbane.
-
Or by flags either...
-
On this morning's footy show on 9 they were saying that the list of candidates is growing beyond the experienced names, and that Adam Simpson is "firming" (as the possible coach, that is)

Sky Sportsnight are still running hard with their report in tonight's program that James Hird will be standing down tomorrow. -

Sky sport reporting that reports are coming through that Hird will be going tomorrow. -
Why do some find the need to include an apostrophe in the name Roos? It's Roos, not Roo's. Or should we start referring to Nathan Jone's, Jack Watt's, Jack Grime's, Chris Dawe's etc?

Alan Stockdale wants to be President
Spirit of '87 replied to Chopper Lovell's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's probably Craig Hutchinson, Melbourne supporter and retired stockbroker. Not the Hutchy you're thinking of Redleg, and different spelling of the surname. -
Melbourne has moved on from Roos
Spirit of '87 replied to red and blue forever's topic in Melbourne Demons
I noticed on Monday's On The Couch, when Roos was discussing the prospect of coaching Melbourne, that he started his sentence with "As silly as it sounds..." then went on to say that the MFC coaching job is acually an attractive role, or words to that effect. "As silly as it sounds" - I guess the prospect of coaching MFC would seem a pretty "silly" one to many prospective coaches. If and when they start winning, perceptions about coaching or playing for Melbourne will improve, and pretty quickly I hope. -
Young talent: do NOT trade pick #2
Spirit of '87 replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Are we still assuming that MFC will have pick 2, despite yesterday's win and the possibility of a few more wins by season's end? -
Lets get a big crowd to the MCG next Saturday night vs Bulldogs

A stirring call HH - I'll be there and I'll bring a couple of friends along too. -
In an 18 team competition, that's an average of only 5.5 players per club, so it's to be expected that the bottom teams like MFC will only have a couple of players who make the list. So only having two players make that list is no more damning than what we already know about where the club is currently placed.

In defence of Collingwood supporters...

Goodes just needs to lose the beard, and the ape remarks will stop. Nothing to do with racism - never hear Rioli, Jetta etc referred to as apes - it's that beard of his. -
Why do we have a VFL review weekly and no AFL review
Spirit of '87 replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
They used to for the AFL team too, a couple of seasons or so ago, on the MFC website, but it seems to have died a quiet death. -
And now we can't even beat an expansion side.
-
I can't understand the AFL's fixation with, and insistence on, clash strips. For over 100 years the competition coped when players were running around on quagmire grounds, covered in mud, yet somehow players seemed to be able to tell each other apart, so could fans, and the game evolved and thrived through those years. Now games are played on perfectly manicured and well drained stadiums, one even under cover, televised clearly with high definition cameras and equipment, but suddenly we're supposedly no longer able to tell one player or team from another.

That could see MFC back at the bottom of the ladder.
