  1. I agree the rule is definitely needed. Just needs to be refined and applied with more consistency. (The Geelong game will be a good case study today). I also think overt verbal abuse of an umpire should be met with a fine. Touching an umpire an immediate suspension. I remember the first game of rugby union I played. I made some infringement in a maul and I asked the ref what the decision was for. Penalised and marched 10 immediately. Was told by my team mates to shut up in no uncertain terms. While that gets to the extreme end it is closer to the direction we need to get to for umpire respect.
  2. I posted this in the Casey thread but is probably more suited to this one. Sorry if some of the context is lost. And I also agree that the abuse rule needs to remain, but refined and more consistency. Totally agree. There is virtually no transparency on umpire reviews of performance and by that I also mean a lack of media scrutiny. I know why they stopped bagging umpires on TV, but it has gone too far in that there now seems to be no accountability. Constructive discussion with an umpires rep explaining decisions should be a weekly occurrence with a view to improving umpiring. When the same umpires keeping getting shown up (like some of Stevic's strange involvements) then a better feedback loop can begin. Need to talk more openly publicly to help ease supporter frustration as poor decisions seem to generally go ignored after the event. We should also be discussing and recognising good performances.

  4. I thought he marked it, just before the Petty spoil which I don't think he infringed with. It was close but I thought he clunked the mark just before the spoil. That is the only way I vould justify it to my kids on the night.
  5. Isn't Stevic the umpire we had problems with last year?
  6. Well this thread shrunk quickly since the hour ago I was here. Obviously some very busy mods today 😁. Looking forward to a good game tonight to round a family reunion BBQ. Hoping for the chance to be loud in the suburbs of Brisbane. Go us!!
  7. I loved seeing Bernie Vince in a supporters jumper in the rooms after the GF.
  8. The poppy yoke is tasteful and respectful. It is far from a nonsense jumper and I appreciate it, and its sentiments.
  9. I won't bag you but I don't agree. Thought it was strange at the start, but he wanted to come to us and he seemed to me give his all for us, accepting that age caught up with him. I thought he was all in with us and love hearing in the media now.
  10. Damn, looks like I have to work on my use of H's
  11. Where did we put that lid again??
  12. Is that a fuscia coloured dress?
  13. Brown has played with desire in the seniors and I think you are underselling him. A run back with Casey would expect the main priority was don't get injured. I want to see Weid succeed too but to say they are close is a misnomer. If Weid gets more exposure it's not at the expense of a fit Brown. Weid needs to earn his place, and two good games in a row would be a good start. Too often he comes in with a flurry and then does nothing for the next few games.
  14. Has Ellison played back previously, I only remember him last year as a promising forward. If he has, has he shown much?
  15. PF, is this in Klingon?
  16. Thanks Roy, I saw that the AFL were showing it but didn't realise Kayo was no longer. It's great to be free for everyone but I liked the comfort and ease of watching on the TV. Have to have Kayo anyway in Brisbane or you miss too many games.
  17. Hoping anyone out there knows, just got back from some time away and went to catch up on the footy I missed. When I went to watch the Casey games they are gone. Has Kayo lost the VFL? There is a local footy link, but it is Sydney games and I am in Brisbane.
  18. Mine too, must be the weather. Or the 3-0 celebratory beers and wines!! Hope it gives me heck most of the season 😁
  19. Yeah, they always seemed to play through the non crowd side of the ground. Oh wait, that was both!! (Dees supporters seemed to easily outnumber Suns supporters).
  20. He's a swinger??
  21. Hope it was a good wedding. You certainly didn't miss a game for the highlights reel.
  22. Couldn't agree more, was saying the same thing to the Son tonight. Even last game there were a few almost opportunities for him. He seems to be instructed to guard the corridor often and plays to the team rules. It will fall his way soon and he will tear a game apart.
  23. Thought Smith played pretty well at the ground. Disappointed in TMac, especially first half. Tried harder in in the second, but early seemed to be led to the ball and intensity seemed low. And I am a TMac fan.
  24. Warm ups at Royal Pines!!
  25. I don't mind the suggestion, so long has he brings more defensive side than when he plays half forward.
