Any chance the Hawks get investigated for putting Hodge back out there? The guy was clearly concussed, but I guess that rule doesn't apply if it's under 2 goals in a prelim....

I also remember the following week, the last final we played in when we picked Nick Smith for his first game in 3 years in a loss at Freo. -

I was telling my son just last night, that I remember when Ryan Ferguson refused to be traded to Hawthorn in exchange for Brad Sewell. Was I just dreaming that, or was that reality? -
I think the "trade Jones" calls are a bit harsh, but I do think he and Vince should no longer be walk up starters in the center square to start games. We are getting smashed in the middle early in games with them in there and we need to change it up.

32 scoring shots to 15 on only 8 less inside 50's is woeful. While WCE were kicking low darts into their forwards, we were kicking slow, high floaters. Also, our ability to tackle but still sllow the Eagles player to get their arms free and dispose of the ball was horrendous tonight.

As a neutral, that was a great game to watch. And boy do i have an eye for talent. http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/34451-patrick-cripps/

Pretty happy my son had his lightening premiership today. I got home and caught about 5 of our final 8 mins of play then switched it off......that was enough to make me irate, so I am happy I didn't see it all.

Players to target at the end of the year

I know it's been rumoured elsewhere, but I had a mate who was at a function yesterday where a former Demons great said that Malceski to the Dees for 2 years was a done deal. -
Tanking in the AFL is fools gold and we are the perfect example of this. Its not like basketball where 1 player on a court of 5 can make a huge difference, and with the draft age being a 1 year less or greater on most top end picks its even more of a lottery on how they will develop, which is why you get so may players from lower in the draft or rookies who turn out to be superstars as opposed to the NBA. I couldn't care less whether we pick at 1,2 or 3 or 7,8 or 9. It seems to me it really doesn't make that much of a difference, unless you have multiple picks in that top 10. So if clubs want to tank to get picks, good luck to them.

Whoever did the best players for SA and didnt put Gore in there needs to have a good hard look in the mirror...he reminds me a lot of Dunstan from SA last year. A ready to go inside mid from Rnd 1 next year, but will probably be overlooked for what he doesn't do rather than what he does. Really impressed with Stretch. If Roosy was after some more classy mids, he has one for his taking in Stretch. Rarely wastes a disposal, very clean and composed. -

We need to get Clem Smith in our team. Hardest player I have seen in the champs for a few years. He's like a young Byron Pickett. I know his stats won't read that well, but he has as much influence in that game today as anyone. I reckon the Vic Country players would've been a little scared when he was in the area. I also like Webb. Classy, taller midfielder. Reminded me a little of a left-footed Mundy. Aidan Andrrson from WA was another who looked prett lively as a small/medium forward. Pretty hard at it with a nose for the ball. -
Anyone else think it was strange that Dunn would be deemed a good matchup for Cloke, but not Petrie? Maybe Drew ventures up the ground more then Cloke does. Others may know more than me.

The amount of times they were able to win the ball and get in on the outside and away was almost as sickening as our unforced turnovers. As great as last weeks win was, it may have lured us into thinking we were going better than we were. IMO we have had a pretty poor 3 weeks in a row now.

Really hoping North need to beat us in the last game to make finals and we can break that disgraceful streak they have over us.

Their arrogance of entitlement is why I hate the Bombers so much. Hands down, the one game I want to win every year. Suffer!!!!!! -

I never doubted Dunny! http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/7335-dunn-is-a-gun/?hl=%2Bdunn+%2Bgun -
Today confirmed my belief that we are in need of another smart/quick small forward to compliment our talls, and add some more forward pressure. Not only did we not look dangerous in our limited entries in our forward line, but we didn't manage to create too many turnovers in their defensive 50 either. A Luke Bruest, Motlop, Wingard type player is what I am thinking.
-
I'd like another fast, smart crumbing small forward. JKH already looks like he can hold his own up the ground a little, so if we had another dangerous crumbing small at the feet of our talls, they could rotate a bit more through different areas of the ground. The likes of Salem and Toumpas are just cutting their teeth on the forward line atm, they will eventually become permanent midfielders.

Anyone else notice the love going on between Watts and George Stone? Last 2 wins coming into the change rooms there has been serious affection shown between the two. Stone hasn't been at the club long, so i think this is great that Watts may have formed a strong bond with one of Roos right hand men.

I long for the days of Nudge and his daily rumour updates...

They should just have a trade window. None of this rubbish of getting clubs all together in the one place where journos can hang around like vultures and feed us crap. Let the clubs just do business between themselves from the comfort of their respective cities and offices, and when a deal gets done, lodge it and let us all know.

Clint is a big Demons supporter too I believe. Maybe he got a little scoop.

It's interesting that clubs are running the line about our PP along the lines of "look where that has got them now" or "it hasn't helped them previously, so why give them another". So what are they trying to say? Would they like us not to be given one because that will in fact help us, and so we will have a better chance to beat their team in the future? If giving us priority picks and having high draft picks has seen us fall to be easy beats of the competetion, then I would have thought the other clubs would have no problem with getting another one. They should just come out and say "We don't want Melbourne to have a PP, because it may in fact help them to be a better team than ours" That is why clubs should have no say in this matter. Its all about self interest.
