This guy keeps tweeting about Viney. https://mobile.twitter.com/DosEquisMan/tweets

Beamer had a great year in 2011, but that was largely due to our midfield structure of Jamar giving him almost exclusive rights to his ruck work. Need has clearly come in and said that won't be happening round here anymore, and his game has suffered. We all saw what happened in games against tough opposition when the Moloney-Jamar combo was negated. This is another step forward for the club.

I don't know all the players, but the one who caught my eye during the carnival was Kennedy from SA. So I will put my non-existstent rep on the line and single him out as a player I think will become a star.

Jerry Lundergard replied to Little Richard's topic in Melbourne Demons
It probably just means that Sheedy the snake actually had no dealings in the matter. He aint at Essendon anymore... -

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Jerry Lundergard replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Why don't you go back over all the draft combine Top-10 results and come back to us with a list of superstars who are in there. Then I will counter it with a list of champion footballers that are not..... -
Can't wait to hear Denham say tomorrow that we offered him twice the $$$ but he still chose West Coast.....

The Free Agency/Trade/Draft Rumour File
Jerry Lundergard replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Rivers is unrestricted isn't he?. He just goes where he wants. -
I think you have nailed it there Forest. After watching the Grand Final, you have to wonder where a player like Cale would fit in a game of that intensity and physicality. Whoever at the MFC tried to predict the future of football would be tall, rangy athletic types, clearly got it wrong.

Ratten pulls out of Port Coaching job
Jerry Lundergard replied to Dee Fan's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would love to see the Reverand get another shot. Upon reflection, he did a fine job with the resources at his disposal. -
I have money on Cotchin and K.Jack.

IMO Dunn is no worse than McPhee, who is playing a role down back for the white hot Dockers at the moment.

Aaron Davey reconsidering his position at Melbourne
Jerry Lundergard replied to Brayshaw Self's topic in Melbourne Demons
Davey shoul be watching Ballantyne tonight, and either realizing how hard you have to work in today's game or that he is finished as a footballer. Say what you want about that rat from Freo, but he gives effort after effort at every contest, and is one hell of a player. -
I was sitting down and watching some youtube highlights with my 5-year old son( he is already a tragic), and I noticed something I hadn't seen all year. Cut through to about 1.40 mins and see if you can see something a bit foreign to us this year.

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that McCartney was the culture changer at Ocean Grove, where he won a flag first, then Neeld took over and won 4 in a row. Just confirmed it. McCartney won 4 in a row first, then Neeld 4 after that. So I think you can make a case for McCartney setting up Neeld for his success. http://www.sportingpulse.com/club_info.cgi?c=1-6160-80517-0-0&sID=139812

Some guys are not going to be big, strong players no matter how much weight and size they put on. I think Watts is quite weak in the core, which is why he seems to get knocked and pushed around so easily. Ii also think a guy like Sylvia is quite weak in the core. He is a beast of a man, but he still gets caught in tackles quite a bit, where a guy like Cotchin doesn't look that big, yet somehow manages to break and stand up in tackles all the time due to a strong core. Although I do think he doesn't go as hard as he should, I kinda feel like he knows he is completely outmatched against anyone with a strong frame before he goes into a contest, so he tries to think is way around them and win them in other ways. Unfortunately, there are times like on Sunday when he is matched up on Walker with a bomb coming in that there is nowhere to hide. He might get a little stronger and halve a few more contests, but I won't be dreaming about Jack ever having Carey-esque like games.

He plays in the guts, but rarely wins clearances. Does not seem to be overly quick or clean by hand as well as foot.

You show me all the top 20 draft picks on the Crows list that just smashed us tonight, and compare it with ours, and then try to mount that argument again.
-
Once again our midfield is putrid. Smashed in the middle, smashed on the scoreboard.

Actually, the point of the my post is the obsession with an extra pick in the draft, or a slightly higher pick will somehow lead our club from the bottom of the ladder is futile, and ultimately something we need to get over. Try to remember back to when we tanked to get the priority pick, and how that draft was going to set our club up for the next decade. It was a load of BS.

I have decided that we must now move on as a club and supporter base form our want of getting a higher draft pick, or a 2nd round pick instead of a first for Viney or worrying about a win because we may move down a spot in the draft. Seriously, we need to get over it, play to win and accept wherever the cards fall in terms of our draft picks. We have a pick 3 who has struggled to string 3 good games together in almost 10 seasons, a No.1 who we drafted as our forward saviour who is now playing as a backmen, a No.4 who struggles to get a game and a no.11 who played in the Casey reserves yesterday. For every Judd, Pendlebury and Cotchin, there is a Simon Black, Mitchell and a Swan. For every Hawthorn premiership model, there is a Sydney one. For every Cale Morton and Lucas Cook, there is a Mitch Thorp and Beau Dowler. For every Nic Natannui, there is a Dean Cox. I couldn't care less if we are made to pick up Viney at No.3, sure experts may not rate him that high, but neither do they rate him in the 20's either. It appears we have already received overs for the Scully defection anyway. If clubs want to bid early for him in an effort to force our hand, then so be it. They will have it returned with interest somewhere down the track. Maybe if we stopped being so preoccupied with what draft picks we end up with and how high they may or may not be, we may actually have a bit of luck fall our way, and we may look back in 5 years time and see that Viney was the best player in the draft, or that we had the clubs greatest draft ever. Carlton felt the full force of the Karma Bus last night and we have been on it for the last 4 or 5 years, it's now time to hop off it. These are not views I have always shared or believed in, but now do.

I am not sure if I am either. Just putting it out there. But it would be a beautiful irony with all the crap that Brock has cause the club over the last few weeks.
