  1. I was just looking at the ladder, and by my reckoning, if North beat Freo next week the last round of football may come down to % between the Blues and Freo to get in the 8, as long as Carlton can beat the Siants in the final round. It is our turn to get back at Carltank for the Kreuzer Cup match and Brock for his OTC comments, and field our worst side possible, and go over ther and get thumped and hopefully knock the Blues out of the 8. It is not tanking to gain an advantage, but rather tanking for another teams disadvantage.
  2. I agree with this. I was surprised at 1/4 time that Ablet had it so much. None of his possessions were damaging. I actaully watched Morton at a stoppage when it was close to where I was sitting, and he actually set up in a way that was going to allow Ablett to possibly win the ball, but if he did it was close to the boundary, and he was in board of that. It may be that Morton was under instruction to no get caught up and blocked in congestion and have Gary run free, but to allow him possesion in areas that he can be contained and less damaging.
  3. I don't mind him being used to tag, but Bennell looked to be a better matchup for him.
  4. Don't mean to hate on you King, but we tanked. The moves that were being made from the box were disgraceful and it was embarrassing for the Tigers that we stil almost beat them. I wonder what kind of lows our club would have sunk to trying to lose to Freo if McMahon had have missed that goal?
  5. Nice post. I think Watts should stay back. We need someone with a brain, skill and a bit of creativity to get the ball out of our defensive 50, and Frawley, Garland and McDonald will give us none of these traits, they will just bomb it down the line. I would prefer Kennedy to Caddy, as he could play as a small crumbing forward as well as a mid and if we could get a decent pick for Sylvia 18-25, then I would take that, and use it on another small forward with pace.
  6. Whan i was flicking between the Olympics and OTC on Monday night and heard that Brock was coming up next, I immediately thought "Uh-oh, Brock is going to talk about tanking", he didn't let me down. Clearly by the guests the usually have on the show(AFL coaches, or the games superstar players), that this was a sting. The reasons why are a little muddier. The simplistic view would be that it is clearly a ratings grab for the show, however, because my mind goes to cynical places I have come up with my own pelican brief. This event was actually set up by the AFL themselves in cohorts with OTC. Why? The first week of the Olympics have just arrived while Andrew is away, and instead of the airwaves and other media being dominated by the games, media watchers will have the AFL once again way ahead with a derived scandal driving proceedings. The AFL will investigate the tanking and find nothing conclusive, after all, the only one who is the link to the board is Bailey, and he had already been cleared by the AFL last year. Brocks thoughts are just his opinion, and he is just a docile pawn in the whole beat up. This will also have a two pronged effect of just letting other clubs know this time of year that head office is watching them for strange events on the field, and tanking will no longer be tolerated. Sounded better in my head than written down, but it's not out of the realms of possibility.
  7. I bet the Blues are just loving this distraction on the eve of a big game to keep their season alive. I wonder what the big wigs at Carlton think about a player going on TV and divulging inner workings of a club? Say goodbye to your new contract Brock!
  8. It's the elephant in the room, but I suspect bigJim was a party to the tanking as well.
  9. This is at the essence of why we are rubbish. The line that the club was feeding us from the CEO down to the member, that high draft picks would lead us to an era of greatness, lead us into an era of complacency. I think as a club, we all didn't work hard enough, beleiving that it would just happen because we had high draft picks, whether this happened consciously or sub-consiiously, it happened. We are now all paying for it. The footy gods are a [censored].
  10. I thought Moloney was uninfluential today, despite what his stats said. I will also agree that our brand of footy is almost unwatchable at present. We don't run hard, take little risk/reward and fail to win crucial one on one and contested ball situations. Only our Melbourne team this year could create a turnover just outside the our F50 like we did today, and manage to not even come up with a scoring shot. We are woeful.
  11. Can you use this same analysis for the Carlton side tonight against Richmond and then put it into perspective with what you wrote on this post?
  12. And they haven't been absolutely [censored] anilhilated on may occasions this year, as well as playing a watchable brand of footy. So please, don't get on these forums and kid yourselves that we are not much worse off than the Tigers. They are waayyyyyyyyy ahead of us. We suck. They don't. It is a very competetive season, so there is not much between 6th and 12th, but light years between 6th and 16th.
  13. Yes, and we wore these special glasses that blocked our vision toward the corrider of the field so we were forced to use boudary line only. It's working a treat.
  14. Hopefully the new coach can implement a game plan that is being used currently, but would probably be outdated by the time we could ever master it, like the Swans "sling-shot" or the Hawks precision kicking game.
  15. And I bet he looked fantastic, and everyone talked about how much talent he has, if only he could do it consistently blah blah blah blah..........
  16. I am saying that in most other good teams, Jones is about the 3rd or 4th best midfirlder. In ours, he is No.1 by a country mile.
  17. Probably won't matter. Our midfield is just on fire this year, which is why he has been struggling to break into our side. He was only listed as 2nd best on ground, so I think we will have to wait another 3-4 weeks where he gets BOG in at least 2-3, before he can get a crack in the juggernaut that is the MFC midfield.
  18. I was at training too, and I saw us doing match simulation drills where we allowed the team simulating the Roos to switch the ball in their defensive 50 to a wide open player who would then move the ball down the ground unhindered. Brilliant! We should try that.
  19. No disrespect to Jones, but I would say he is the equivalent to a Leigh Adams on the Kangas. The difference is Adams has a Swallow, Wells and Harvey to surround himself with, we have....well....poo....
  20. Daydream Believer - The Monkees
  21. All I could think of while watching that game today was "wouldn't it be great to be supporting either of these teams today, who are actually playing with a bit of ticker". It was a great game played with some real intensiity. We are more likely to have a rivarly with one of the expansion teams, or will they fly past us too?
  22. Same crap I heard 5 years ago.
  23. Hang your heads in shame MFC.
  24. Take yourself off for the rest of the game Garland.
