  1. ANB out for me. Should've been dropped for this weeks game after his 2 missed hanballs against the wind in the 3rd quarter last week cost us goals and the game. Has had a numerous amount of brain fade moments this season trying to be too clever with his disposal and in general really frustrates me, along with Harmes. Watts should be playing further up the ground as a link man and delivering the ball inside 50 for us because it's an area we are putrid at. Maybe it's a result of the horrible grounds and conditions we have been playing the last 2 weeks, but I'd give him another week to see how he goes at the G. Out: Melk, ANB, Harmes In: Stretch, JKH, Hannan
  2. Ben Guthrie(afl.com), you can't be serious. Where's Nev?
  3. Here is the Dusty Thread on Demonland before he was drafted. Maybe some of us should have been running the recruiting department.
  4. I think that is even restrictive. Players in lower leagues have already been overlooked by teams in drafts previously, so there should be no reason why they should not be able to sign a contract throughout the year. The AFL should allow extra spots on lists to allow this, or players can be bought out and released if need be to free up a spot. It will happen eventually, we are always at least a decade behind in regards to the way our league operates in comparison to the global landscape.
  5. AFL needs to adopt a similar policy to NBA where you can sign players out of lower leagues (VFL, SANFL, etc), on short term contracts and then get the rights to sign them longer term if they perform well. It gives us the option to grab a ruckman now. Why should players have to wait 6 months to go into a draft to possibly play in a year when they could be living their dream next week?
  6. I have to agree with this, I thought he was terrible watching live, but he looked better during the replay. Possibly because I knew we we were going to win though.
  7. Just checked the results of that game. http://websites.sportstg.com/round_info.cgi?a=MATCH&fixture=124569746&c=1-118-0-392693-0&pool=1 It appears Clayton Oliver didn't play that game. He will be the difference. He is the chosen one. He is the MFC messiah.
  8. Found it. Matthew Lokan. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_AFL_Rising_Star
  9. There was a season they gave 2 nominations in the final round to get in players they thought were deserving of a nomination. One of them was a Collingwood player, but I can't recall his name"Loch?".
  10. I'll put it out there that Hogan was actually a better kick for goal when he had his awkward, stuttering approach. It's probably the same routine he's had his whole life, he's changed to a more straight on and a lot smoother approach, but his kicking is worse. It's been a gross over reaction to one really poor set shot in the NAB challenge IMO.
  11. 17 to parker....someone needs to check and see if the statisicians up there have him in their Draftstars and Moneyball teams.
  12. Any chance the Hawks get investigated for putting Hodge back out there? The guy was clearly concussed, but I guess that rule doesn't apply if it's under 2 goals in a prelim....
  13. I also remember the following week, the last final we played in when we picked Nick Smith for his first game in 3 years in a loss at Freo.
  14. I was telling my son just last night, that I remember when Ryan Ferguson refused to be traded to Hawthorn in exchange for Brad Sewell. Was I just dreaming that, or was that reality?
  15. I think the "trade Jones" calls are a bit harsh, but I do think he and Vince should no longer be walk up starters in the center square to start games. We are getting smashed in the middle early in games with them in there and we need to change it up.
  16. 32 scoring shots to 15 on only 8 less inside 50's is woeful. While WCE were kicking low darts into their forwards, we were kicking slow, high floaters. Also, our ability to tackle but still sllow the Eagles player to get their arms free and dispose of the ball was horrendous tonight.
  17. As a neutral, that was a great game to watch. And boy do i have an eye for talent. http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/34451-patrick-cripps/
  18. Pretty happy my son had his lightening premiership today. I got home and caught about 5 of our final 8 mins of play then switched it off......that was enough to make me irate, so I am happy I didn't see it all.
  19. I know it's been rumoured elsewhere, but I had a mate who was at a function yesterday where a former Demons great said that Malceski to the Dees for 2 years was a done deal.
  20. Tanking in the AFL is fools gold and we are the perfect example of this. Its not like basketball where 1 player on a court of 5 can make a huge difference, and with the draft age being a 1 year less or greater on most top end picks its even more of a lottery on how they will develop, which is why you get so may players from lower in the draft or rookies who turn out to be superstars as opposed to the NBA. I couldn't care less whether we pick at 1,2 or 3 or 7,8 or 9. It seems to me it really doesn't make that much of a difference, unless you have multiple picks in that top 10. So if clubs want to tank to get picks, good luck to them.
  21. Whoever did the best players for SA and didnt put Gore in there needs to have a good hard look in the mirror...he reminds me a lot of Dunstan from SA last year. A ready to go inside mid from Rnd 1 next year, but will probably be overlooked for what he doesn't do rather than what he does. Really impressed with Stretch. If Roosy was after some more classy mids, he has one for his taking in Stretch. Rarely wastes a disposal, very clean and composed.
