What I especially liked, is that we now have another target(other than Jamar), that we can bomb it too long around the ground who can either take a pack mark, or bring it down consistently. It was probably the most confident I have seen him with the ball in his hands as well.

Steve McBurney anyone??? I would like to unleash, but just deleted it all under a second thought. -

Won't happen, but on today's performance IN: Frawley Out: Rivers -
Agree 100% with your post, and think I may have posted a similar thing last year. Even with an All-Australian ruckman last year, our ability to win clean ball from stoppages and get it into our F50 is dreadful. When I watch our team at stoppages, it always appears to me that we are very negative and reactive. Maybe it just all comes down to the quality of our midfielders.
-
My biggest fears about our team were on show tonight. We don't win enough clean ball from clearances. We have some serious liabilities with ball in hand in our backline. We are not as good as what we are pumped up to be.
-
Not sure why McKenzie never gets mentioned when talking of our missing players. We could have used his hardness and tackling pressure around the stoppages. We at least know now that M.Warnock is not up to it, and is clearly a depth player going forward.
-
We gave away many frustration frees in the last quarter, mainly due to the fact that the umpiring was FAAARKKEDDD!!!!! 2nd game of the NAB, and i already hate them.

I have set up a Herald Scum supercoach league. Supercoach: League 348073.

Joel Bowden was consistently in this bracket of player too, but was never going to help the Tigers win games and move forward. I see Bruce in the same light.
-
Bruce was a solid servant for the club, but unfortunately my lasting memory of him will be that disgraceful last quarter of his against the Roos this year. No wonder he felt unsure about his place in our side going forward when one of your supposed leaders puts in such a weak and pathetic display when a game is in the balance, he should feel insecure. Seeee-Yaaaa!

You can tell it's the off season when ...

I've once again over extended myself with fantasy NBA teams in an effort to fill in the time until the season starts again. -
Is this the guy we are trading for? "Get off my train!"

It's very hard to have any kind of come back against Pies supporters after they won the flag, but one avenue of attack I found after the win was accusing the large Pies bandwagon of fairweather fans who no doubt are also supporters of both Man Utd and the LA Lakers. It is very easy to jump on board a huge supported team like the Pies, we all know most of their fans have no idea about footy, but just love the chance to be part of a movement. When the Demons win a flag in the not too distant future, our win will feel much more deserved.

Collingwood Star Shirks Body Contact
Jerry Lundergard replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
I didn't see the whole game last night, so i can't speak of the incident. However, is does confirm my theory that not every single one of your players has to be Glenn Archer-like, for you to have the best team in the AFL. I know we would all like them to be, but it is just not reality, and I think we are sometimes too harsh on players that don't show that courage and want them tossed out of the team ASAP(Bennell, Dunn). Who wouldn't have Alan Didak in their starting 22 on any given night? He is a gun, and even if he may put in a weak effort like the one you have mentioned every now and then, doesn't mean he takes his effect on the team into the negative. -
2010 Season Review - Early Demonstration
Jerry Lundergard replied to Dee man's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great work! I really enjoyed reading the review, and thought your assessments were spot on. You might want to change the title to 2010 review though. -
1. Our lack of inside 50's 2. Lynden Dunn's moustache 3. Continuing injuries to Jack Grimes and Rickt Petterd.
-
1. The excitement that Liam Jurrah brings to the M.C.G 2. Our ability to no longer cop 10 goal hidings. 3. James Frawleys ability to dominate almost anyone he plays on.
-
Morton seems like a player who is constantly over thinking when he has the ball. He looks scared about taking a risk and have it be the wrong option, but this indecision usually leads to errors anyway.
-
Bruce had a pathetic last quarter. While the Roos had their champ in Harvey stepping up when it counted, we had Bruce stinking it up. I am sorry that this will offend some, but i expect more from supposed leaders and champs of our club.

Any news on McBurney following suit?

J. McKenzie for Rising Star Nomination
Jerry Lundergard replied to DeezMan's topic in Melbourne Demons
That is a disgracefully harsh call on a 2nd year rookie who plays his heart out every week doing much of the unheralded grunt work for our team. Maybe you should watch the game a little more closely and see some of the repeated efforts in close Jordie does. He is one of the few players we have continually diving in and burrowing for the hard conteseted ball, and exactly the kind of player every successful team needs. -
Who will take the reins from Junior..?
Jerry Lundergard replied to demondomination's topic in Melbourne Demons
Moloney had my vote at the start of the season, and nothing has changed for me since. -
James McDonald - Retirement Announcement
Jerry Lundergard replied to DemonWorshipper's topic in Melbourne Demons
This sums up my feeling as well. By the start of the season next season, the likes of McKenzie will have gone past him(if not already), and i would have hated to see Junior play out much of his last year at Casey. -
I think that if you took Brad Sewell out of their side yesterday, and gave us a fit Moloney, then that result is reversed. To me that was just about the difference in the game.

I think the advantageous position we are now in, is that we are clearly a team on the up, capable of playing plenty of finals footy over the next decade, as well as having world class facilities at AAMI Park. Player agents will now get in contact with us, rather than the other way round.
