  1. Like some here on Demonland, the club probably thought that Brock was expendable, and they secured a good pick for him. I would have thought that Davey is not expendable though and the club will not be so willing to part ways with him unless something exceptional was on offer. He can hardly walk out ot the PSD can he? I can't have it either that players would be upset over the CJ incident, that to me is ridiculous. They are well paid professional athletes, small incidents like that probably happen in non professional teams all over the country in all sports, and i doubt they would cause major rifts.
  2. You still have to draft good players. We don't want to ed up like the Tigers in 2004, they had 5 in the top 20, and are currrently considered to have the worst list in the AFL. 1. Delidio 4. Tambling 12. DannyMeyer 16. Adam Pattison 20. Dean Polo
  3. Is that fact, or opinion?
  4. There are plenty or murmurings about Nick Stevens retiring, so that could be where Brock's pay packet is coming from.
  5. The Stingrays coach himself perhaps?
  6. Wow! Brock Leaves
  7. Makes no difference where Brock was picked. Farren Ray was picked one before him at no.4 in the same year, but the Bulldogs traded him(& pick 48) last year, for pick 31. Pick 11 is a fair result for us if this isn't BS.
  8. 2003 will possibly go down as one of the worst drafts ever. Go and check out the top 20 and see how many spuds there are. 2003 Draft Brock and Ratten may have formed a bond when he was our midfield coach. As far a trades go, i don't see this one as being too bad. Carlton need a grunt type of midfielder to help out Judd at stoppages, we have a couple already in Jones and Moloney(& Valenti). Pick 11 will have us in the market for one of the better KPP players in the draft after we takes mids with our first 2 picks.
  9. I heard the interview too. He said Melbourne had spoken to both boys, but it did seem a pump up of his own players to me. He was quick to dismiss Scully and get on to talking about his own boys.
  10. I like Sylvia at the $10.
  11. The problem with this scenario, is that Miller takes an eternity to make a decision. In today's footy, half of the other teams midfield will have flooded back into our forward line by then.
  12. I think Tom Hawkins game tonight proved that patience is always needed for the bigger kids. Tom had a very mature body coming into the AFL, but has still taken quite some time to make his mark. We will need to just back Watts like Bomber has Tom, and hope he turns out to be the gun forward we need.
  13. Can't wait for Old Xav's response to the Pies capitulation. Seems all that quality player development still aint good enough to stop a good ol' fashioned spanking in prelim.
  14. Although Luke Ball played in last nights final, i feel Brock may be destined for a similar fate in regards to Ball's season this year. With the possible inclusion of 2 more elite mids this year, and the ever increasing speed of the game, next year will be a telling year for Brock.
  15. Surely this must be the year that someone of quality who wants out of another club, slips through to us for free in the PSD.
  16. Really looking forward to this game tonight. CH10 doing the right thing by us fans and putting it on live is a great thing. I am obviously hoping for a Cats win, because although to see the pies lose another GF would be a sweet to watch ,if they are in it, then they are a chance to win it. It looks a little wet, so i am hoping Geelong bring the sought of game that they brought to the G on a Friday night last year that coincided with the Beijing Olympic opening ceremony....
  17. Quote from Mark Williams "The team that gets him will be very, very lucky." I wonder if he is referring to PSD 1?
  18. I wouldn't have Rivers i anny of the top 3 either, but that will suit Rivers and the Demons, because it means he will be able to do what he does best and play that Maxwell/Harley role, where he zones off and helps out our main one on one defenders when the ball comes in.
  19. Is that the same winning culture that saw you lose your last 11 games of the 2005 season to just sneak in a priority pick before the rules were changed? Sidebottom and Beams may turn out to be handy players, but it is much easier to look better in a team playing well and winning games. The likes of Brad Miller and Clint Bartram looked like much better players for us when they were playing as youngsters in winning seasons, now they are struggling to hold their spot in the bottom placed team. Some of your other rising stars of the past few years you were sprouting about such as Brown, Clarke and Goldsack struggle to get consistent senior games at the moment, where is their development taking them? It is very easy to get on the boards of the bottom placed side when your team is in a preliminary final and start talking smack, i doubt back in 2005 you would have been trolling through the likes of the Crows, Swans and Eagles fan forums spreading the Collingwood gospel according to Old Xavs.
  20. I feel like i am reading the script to "The Big Lebowski"
  21. Your spot on DD. Growing up playing a lot of hoops, I come across plenty of guys who were great shooters in drill situations and even in on court scrimmaging at training, but once in the heat of a game under higher intensity and pressure, not so great.
  22. Judd went to a team that finished 15th on the ladder the year before.
  23. Very convenient of you Old Xavs to only go back 4 years in the Rising Star, when you full know well if you had of gone back one more year you would see that we went 1 & 2 that year(Rivers & Davey). I haven't done the math, but if you include that year i presume we are right up there as well. Also, if you know how the nominations work, you will know that they often go to players on winning teams, which with Melboure having only won 13 of 66, gives us a far less chance of snagging nominations, but i will back in Jones, Petterd, Morton, Wonamaerri, Garland, Grimes and Jurrah over that time span, than Collingwoods Pendlebury, Clarke, Goldsack, Brown, Barham, Dick and Beams any day of the week buddy.
  24. I grew up for the most part of my childhood in South West Sydney, and having already spent time in Darwin and Perth I had an appreciation of Aussie Rules, but never really followed a team. That changed when i was about 11 and my Mum came home one day from a garage sale with a 2nd hand Demons jumper. Not long after that i cried in my Sydney living room as Jim Stynes ran through the mark and we lost the Prelim on that infamous day. I will admit they i was more a league follower than AFL for a large part of my youth, but when i finally made my way down to Melbourne 10 years ago, my love for the game was once again reignited and my passion for the Red & Blue grows stronger every year. So much so, that i have done my part for the club by spawning 3 new demons supporters, who will be show where the door is if they ever entertain the idea of possibly following another club.
  25. Clinton Young from the Hawks was an injury away from a Norm Smith Medal with a similar frame to Blease. I think they probably have comparable games as well.
