  1. Juice wasn't on his Pat Malone there, I can remember another botched pass by Morton down the punt rd. end in exactly the same fashion. Morton seems to take forever to wheel around, square himself up, then fluff a weak kick. We nned players who wheel around and spear a quick pass across their bodies that gets there with speed and precision. You watch how many Pies players can perform this skill. That half a second gained can be the difference between a player running into a shot on goal or not.
  2. Would have also been handy if Newton had have been able to kick a regulation 15-20mt pass to him on the chest. That is why we suck. Basic skill errors, combined with the fact the players maing them shouln't be out there in the first place.
  3. It was a combination of our disgusting stratedgy of pushing players back last night, and also work rate. Carlton had plenty of work rate last night, we had very little, which is why they consistently found space between themselves and there direct opponents, and they were able to hit open targets pushing up toward the ball all night. How many times did we find hit up targets in space last night? Even Brad Miller has been able to do this again at Richmand, so clearly there is gameplan and personnel issues at our club, but I am not telling you anything that we don't already all know and can see with our own eyes out there.
  4. Newton out please! Is Dunn due back? Because I will take him as a back up ruck over having to watch that spud ever play for us again. Trengove, Scully and Howe can all be inclusions for me as well. Out goes Morton, Bate and Jetta. Warnock deserves to go as well for that game last nigh, but we may have to wait for Garland to get back, before that can happen.
  5. I get those feelings before most games, and then the ball is bounced.....
  6. I think it is the perfect week to bring those two in, because they will know that there are two automatic inclusions next week in Scully and Trengove, so if they don't bring it tomorrow night, they will find it very hard to get back in the team for an extended time.
  7. Nat Fyfe Buddy Simon Black
  8. Maybe Watts will end up being our version of Andrew Mackie. A high draft choice who goes to a club yearning for a match winning forward, but struggling to cope with the physicality and expectation of the position, goes to the backline and becomes an All-Australian in a premeirship team.
  9. Jordie Mac is back! Whoo-F***ing-Hoo!!!! I predict himself and Evans to probably timeshare via the sub on Saturday though.
  10. Now I know they are not a list of players that are going to necessarily going to scare the life out of opposition defences, however, by my reckoning we have an over abundance of big to mid-sized forwards who may be all worthy of selection this week. If you start with the three incumbents Jurrah, Watts and Petterd and then throw in Juice, who deserves another crack. Bate was stiff to be dropped, and should come back in on another good game in the twos, and then throw in a BOG performance from Howe at Casey, and that is 6 right there already. Interesting selection meetings to be had this week by the coaching staff, and maybe some inventive positioning on Saturday if we do decide to roll with all of them.
  11. The worst part about the situation you are alluding to, is that way back in about 05, i remember saying to a mate that we will not progress anywhere as a club until the youngsters that we drafted and traded for(McLean, Sylvia, Beamer and co.), were to take over from our lack of leaders and players who could swing a game when it got tough(Bruce, Green, Yze and co). Yet here we are, discussing the exact same situation again another 5 years or so on, and I have no doubt it has been a pattern repeated for some 50 or so years now.
  12. Maybe downhill skier is a bit harsh, but as i was eluding to with Embley, i think he will look better when we have a team with a harder edge that wins much more ball around the game which can allow him to play that outside game and flourish. If he had of played in the Crows game last week , he probably would have had 25 and 3 goals.
  13. I remember that Bulldogs game as quite a good game(maybe his best), but just because you rack up a ton of disposals playing loose across the backline, doesn't mean you have impacted the game in a positive way, as your own stats will atest to. Which is why i rate the Sydney games as better.
  14. To me Morton has always seems a bit of a down hill skier, who looks good when we are up and running. Reminds me of Embley who looked great in WC's good years and then disappeared when they were shite and not winning enough hard ball, but now looks great again when WC are up and running. However a couple of Mortons better games have been against Adam Goodes when he has been given a specific role. So maybe a role against a Brendan Goddard this week may be something the coaching staff could look at. Although there is always a chance he run BG back into form...
  15. Look, i am liking what I am starting to see from Watts as well. But I sometimes find it amusing when we get excited by some of the things he does, when i am see that consistently from other young players already(eg. he takes one contested grab, and we all get really excited like he may be the next Carey). If anyone watched Fyfe play for Freo tonight, he took about 3 in the last qtr alone. That kid is an absolute jet, and I predict he will be a top 5 player in the league in future years. He reminds me of Hird in the way he can impact a game around the ground by making all sorts of plays at different moments.
  16. All good points, but then I look to my TV screen and watch what Jack Darling is able to do in his 7th game in his first year of footy and I sigh......
  17. Oooooohhhh! Who's gonna bite?
  18. I think there has been plenty of case studies that show in all sports, than when a an athlete misses a whole season with injury, that it can sometimes take them a well of a year to find form again. Therefore i am willing to give Wonna a bit of a reprieve.
  19. North are an average battling side who will never challenge the top sides. It doesn't say much for us, but the reason the Roos do well against us is because they punish us for basic skill errors(7 goals from midfield errors). Against the top teams, this doesn't happen, which is why they get pasted. Somehow, we can sometimes raise our level against the better sides, but then produce some absolute garbage against teams at our level or below. It's all mental.
  20. I was more disappointed in some of Daveys.
  21. I am still wondering if Martin will play. It seems a strange decision to drop Bate and bring in Newton when Dunn and Watts backed up Jamar last week, so could do the same this week again for Martin. I get the feeling that Martin may go out, Bate comes in for him, and Newton and Dunn will ruck for us (yiiikes!).
  22. Unfortunately, unless you are knocked out, it will not be a reportable offence. This does not mirror the bump, where Campbell Brown missed Barry Halls head when he took him front on, but still got weeks. As with most things AFL, inconsistency rules.
  23. It will be interesting to see how Moloney goes without Jamar palming it down to him. Should be a true test of how good of form he is in, and how far he has progressed as a player.
  24. Wow, we really are farked now!
  25. Can someone explain to me how he gets charged for high contact when it is actually the turf that contacts his head? If Dangerfield had of broken his arm from the tackle, which is a far worse injury, the activation points would not be as great due to high contact being ommitted, and he would get less weeks. Doesn't make any sense to me, and I think we should challenge this further.
