  1. After that last goal by Scully, l miss those keep Tom Scully threads.
  2. That's it, we know he can play. Sign him up on the downlow and tell him to take it easy in 2014. Preserve yourself kid, you have a long hard slog ahead of you.
  3. You can choose not to acknowlege the generosity of Collingwood. But we'd of been far more than 5 million in debt if Collingwood hadn't of given us their home games. The only thing pathetic here is blokes like yourself.
  4. Good on PJ, it doesn't hurt to have ties with Essendon. We already have ties with Collingwood, we are forever indebted to them - they have generously given us their home game the past decade. Eddie bats for us when we are on the deck. Good on Jobe Watson, along with Gary Ablett Jr, they are the best people in football - especially helping out kids.
  5. Easy to overlook Kennett due to the silly things that he says in the media. But here is a bloke who has actually goverened the state, previously been involved at a successful football club. Kennett shouldn't be easily dismissed as some will do on this board. Kennett is an option and it's refreshing to know that the club is looking at these types of candidates.
  6. Doesn't come across as arrogant as other intellect players in the game - ala Daniel Jackson. Dawes comes across the opposite, yet says exactly what he thinks - and explains it perfectly. I know it's too early to say, throw the bloke the captaincy, but Dawes is everything a club looks for in a captain. If his performances continue along the line of the past couple of weeks, hard to argue we shouldn't at least look at him to lead the club forward.
  7. Shouldn't be too hard for Sam Blease to cement his spot in that side, kid can play and should be no where near the VFL.
  8. The AFL have already stepped in when it basically appointed us Jackson, they will probably play a role in assisting MFC to pay out Neeld. If the AFL didn't send Jackson our way, we'd of continued our unethical ways - which is what has got us in this big mess in the first place. We need the AFL's assistance, the place is a rabble - and getting worse, as a club we are in not far from being extinct atm.
  9. Plan of attack would be to look where Ross came from - the Sydney line, done his apprenticeship under Roos. Ross Lyon is a culture changer and builder, gets the best out of his players. Look where Neeld comes from - Malthouse line, done his apprenticeship under Mick, who is people motivator, yet not a great culture builder. Melbourne Football Club need? A culture changer and builder, not a short term fix like motivating people to get up for a game, it's more than that at the MFC. Personally I don't think David Schwartz should be allowed anywhere near our club, but I am glad that he is making people aware of the grave danger the club is in at present. We are nearly on our knees and if things get much worse, well.. I shutter to even think of that.
  10. We play blokes week in week out who don't do enough to earn their spot. A lot of people were harping on the Kent shouldn't of played last week because he didn't earn his spot - and he shown more signs than 3 quarters of the list. Blease has been in the system a lot longer than Kent.... Blease is proven at AFL level, if Sam Blease isn't performing at VFL to required standards, he's probably lost interest. Can hardly blame him, watching blokes spud up our main list week in - week out - and continue to get a game. Watts has done nothing all year, gets injured/rested and doesn't even have to come back through the VFL.
  11. I'm glad OX is writing the article, it takes guts, I've personally been hoping for hidings the past month, so Neeld gets the sack. But, I haven't even had the guts to post that on here, yet Schwartz is going to make his article public to the whole football world, it takes guts. Good on David Schwartz I say, he is passionate, wants to see the back of Neeld and hopefully we can all rally behind Schwartz.
  12. Yes, it does matter, because Blease has been on our list long enough, he is a player in the bracket that Neeld harps on about - games wise, yet Neeld won't play him. Blease killed it towards the end of last year, showed some loyalty and stuck with us, had a big pre-season and yet doesn't get a crank. Neeld needs to pull his head in and start playing talented blokes like Blease, instead of sticking with spuds like McKenzie and Bail - who are barely even VFL standard.
  13. I'd love to keep Davey, but not at a cost. Considering Aaron has been our highest paid player over the past 5 years, I think he'd stay for less. It shouldn't be too hard to come to some sort of agreement, it's not like he is setting the world on fire anymore. But we would all be happy that so far this year, we have seen a much improved Davey.
  14. Bring back Neale Daniher as coach. At least he taken us to finals every second year. The way we are going now, we won't see finals until anytime this century.
  15. Mark McLure, stop talking soo much goddam sense, for christs sakes.
  16. All over it, spot on... Throw us a priority:)
  17. Thanks for the insight, I did not know that he had a business degree, etc... I know sometimes too much these days can be read into having a degrees, etc... But having former and current educated blokes in Mahoney and Dawes, is a step in the right direction for the club. Maybe Mahoney is a bit inexperienced as a football manager and needs to work under an experienced football manager. Either way, I am not sure, I don't know the inner workings, but I noted that PJ thinks Neeld needs to have more experience around him - in regards to the football department.
  18. I agree HELL NO to Knights, only because I don't think he is a good fit for us.... The bloke can obviously coach. A good fit for us is currently being interviewed on the Couch, it's a crying shame that Ken Hinkley isn't coach of MFC. To listen to Hinkley tonight, just frustrates me more. Could tell that Paul Roos was nearly gobsmacked on Hinkley, Roos was asking all the right questions, it's the only time this year Roo's hasn't talked about himself.
  19. Beams would be a good get. I'd rather Beams than Thomas. Actually, I'd rather Beams than nearly anyone, other than perhaps Fyfe and Sloane. I think all 3 are in the perfect age bracket. Not sure who is out of contract though - other than Sloane, but he won't leave Dangerfield in the lurch. Hawthorn's cap will squeeze if Buddy stays, but their midfielders are getting on and I'm not sure they have anything we want. Collingwood's cap will squeeze, surely? And... We have the right contacts:) I don't think we'll get much from Geelong, not sure they have mids we'd want, Stokes perhaps as a free agent, but he'll be 29, still a good get, but silly for him to leave really. Sydney... Parker would be worth chasing, definitely... He might be unhappy to, not sure he is a premiership player though, think he was injured.. So, who is this premiership player? I am stumped... Beams?
  20. PJ did make mention of Mark Neeld being an inexperienced coach - surrounded by a rather inexperienced football department. Taking that into account, Josh might find himself in PJ's sights.
  21. I have 100% faith in him. His only real knock is that he extended Knights coaching contract, but Matty Knights has shown since his sacking - that he is no mug, the bloke can coach. James Hird has a far better list at his disposal and his record is probably worse - granted though, I do think Essendon are improving and so they should, what is to say they wouldn't of under Knights? As for Peter Jackson at our club, it's clear the AFL has sent him in to clean up this mess. I don't know the inner working of our board, but there appear to be ethical issues and the tanking saga highlighted this. I am far from a Mark Neeld fan, but I understand that sacking the coach isn't going to help us atm, it's a short term fix and we need to get our board right first and foremost. A good coach will hopefully come in after our house is in order.
  22. Don't read too much into it that they are showing faith in Neeld. Neeld staying is more due to PJ getting the board right and everything running smoothly for a quality coach to even look at our club. At current, we are a rabble, we couldn't run a bath - let alone a business, which is what football essentially is these days. Neeld will stay on board as long as it takes to get the structure of our board right. As supporters, we will experience pain, it will be frustrating, but the changes that will be made are neccessary changes.
  23. It makes sense that the coach will be last to go. Just getting the board right, then we'll be able to attract a quality coach. At the moment, Roos and co won't go near us - because our board is about as ethical as Lance Armstrong. Once all the pieces are in place, we should be all ready to go for 2014.
