  1. If Max is 100% fit he comes in no question otherwise Pruess stays. Cant play both ATM. Having said that i thought Pruess competed very well against Maggs. No doubt there will be queries from other clubs at seasons end. Otherwise no changes.
  2. Weed was good again. Makes a big difference to our forward structure when he is going well. Good on ya Weed
  3. TMc may fire up without pressure. One of our talls will get their 3rd tall defensive option, likely more of a medium/tall. Fortunately Jackson and T Mc are fairly mobile and good runners.
  4. Bennell looked tired in the last half especially last week. No zip. So a rest looks appropriate. Swallow deserves a go. TmC will stretch their backs. He and Jackson are mobile and can run all day. Looks like Port are backing their mids to flogg ours like the Lions mids did.
  5. Reading between the lines of Goodies presser The Weid and Jacko will be in. Discussing whether 3 talls can be played. Asked whether T Mc can play wing he said it will be discussed. So maybe not wing.
  6. Given that we have had very few 40 plus point wins of late why would we change the team. Save rotations for the short turnarounds.
  7. Geez, it would be hard and outright idiocy to make personnel changes after a big win like that. I would say no change on the basis that big wins like that have been rare for us of late plus fitting 9 rounds into 6 weeks or so plus our catch up Dons game will require rotation resting in any case.
  8. Smells like 2018 except our guns are more mature and better. Just a sniff though at this stage but promising. Jackson looks like he will be a player. The Weid looks like he has reclaimed his late 2018 confidence - except he has matured since then - GREAT sign for things to come. Add a fit May, Bennell, Langdon plus our recruits. Who does T Mc come in for?????/
  9. I agree with those who suggest Jackson will take a bit of the ruck load from Gawny. We are heading towards that period where we have plenty of games in a short period plus the Dons catch up game. Managing Gawn would be a big factor with the advantage of getting games under Jackson's belt.
  10. After years of education and constant media reminders of the need to behave in a social and a whole of community minded manner those that still engage in this sort of behavior are obviously not quite right - for various reasons i will not go into. Its a reminder that there is still a way to go and those breaking the law should be punished.
  11. I just watched the after match interview with Weid. Geez, he was pumped by the win, getting back in after 12 months and making a decent contribution. Watching you could see how much it all meant to him. Hopefully he will build on that and be a regular in the 22. Well done Weid.
  12. Good win in the end. Bennell has smarts and Pickett will be good. O Mc takes the pressure off Lever and May. We need more composure with the ball. VB goes at the ball really hard. Some very silly kicks and handballs at times. Maybe some confidence from the win will allow them to be more relaxed on disposal?
  13. The mids have dropped off big time. We probably have to many similar type inside players. We seem to always be cramped for space when we get the ball with no one in a good position to feed the ball to. The season is passing us by. Play Bennell now as he offers a skill and distribution difference. Need another tall forward. Bring Jackson in for the dual Forward/ruck/role. It looks like we have no system but we actually get the ball enough its just not enough quality players in positions to give it to. Our connection with forwards is because we do not have enough naturally clever forwards. Bennell knows where to run and how to position himself. Pickett is learning and has natural forward ability.. Play them both.
  14. Melksham and Hannan are quick and can mark but they are not 'clever' forwards. Hunt is quick but not clever. Bennell is clever and can distribute the ball well and Pickett shows those traits. VB adds toughnness. We need another tall forward. I would bring in Jackson who can play forward as a target and ruck to get Gawn up forward at times. I would bring in Bennell for Hunt and Jetta for Langhorne. Geez wasn't that free against Petracca that resulted in a gimme goal either or a joke or a disgrace or both.
  15. I think someone forgot to tell the players that a small forward line means the small forwards to to keep running to provide options for the mids to kick to. Either that or the players are slow learners and it will be a few more games before the penny drops. The small forward line will be persevered with to give the team time to get used it. Lets hope it sank in after the Cats game.
  16. Have to go with the tall. Jackson was rated up there and we need to build our 'class' tall stocks.
  17. Its a bit dodgy to ask teams to play 2 games in say 6 days especially if you are a finals chance and its getting close to seasons end. So AFL will likely try to avoid late season games. The virus gets a little worse AFL may end up reducing the season somehow to 15 or 16 rounds over the course of the season. Its everyone play each other once now so all fair now but the AFL 22 or 23 rounds was not done that way in the past. So a reduced 15 or 16 round season would be a break glass in case of emergency but not out of the question. The AFL is determined to award a Premiership cup no matter what.
  18. Agree, in the absence of a vaccine outbreaks and clusters could occur for years. Usually a pandemic sweeps through and is over in a year or 2 after a lot of damage until we get herd immunity. Could be we just have to get used to living with the virus. So we either throw caution to the wind and get busy burying people or get used to living with restrictions and crap like this and go broke as economies go off the boil. Choices aren't flash.
  19. I think we will be hoping the connection between up field and forwards is exceptional with pinpoint passes. Also one area we need to improve in is pressure on is our forward defensive work. The inclusions will help this. It was very obvious how easy it was for Carlton to get the ball out in the last half. Our forward defensive pressure was non existent. That was the main reason we could not stop their momentum. Glad to see Goody has addressed this. Manic unrelenting forward defensive pressure is one tactic used to maintain momentum or swing lost momentum back. It forces opposition errors.
  20. Well if we win this week the only thing we will remember about last week is that we won. Going for pace plus a bit of toughness with VB. Good as we need to keep searching for that formula that produces results.
  21. Have to bring in Kossi for extra speed and defensive pressure. He is already the most skilled on our list for of repeat front and square. Weid probably comes in for Jackson although Jackson was ok for his first game. May even be given another game. Brown is a break glass in case of emergency player and that does happen but not just now. Bit of a cheek though dropping players with our win/loss ratio - haha. We are getting cocky already!!!
  22. It was amazing in the last q. We would bomb it long to a 1 against 2 or 3 contest over and over or so it seemed. They win I say well it will come straight back as we have a couple of extra up the field. I was wrong they would find an a lose player to kick to. Others seeing that would have shaken their heads in disbelief as well. This was for most of the last q or so it seemed. That comes back to awareness, composure and on field leadership. We can only improve on that. No doubt Coaches will be stressing composure etc and how to cope with momentum loss and regain it. Do that against the top sides and it will be very ugly.
  23. We will know after next weeks game how good or bad yesterdays performance was. If we play well and win well next week we will praise our effort to get up against mounting odds late against the Blues. If we get flogged next week well its...…………………...a worry at the least. We seemed to lack individual and team composure after half time. It completely went missing in the last quarter. Fumbles, misdirected kicks, easy marks by Blues. We were kicking to team mates who were outnumbered. They were kicking to un marked players and running the ball out. etc, etc. Rabbits in headlights!! Team leaders need to stand up in these situations. We won so there is some argument they did. Gawn, Oliver and Petracca kept us in the game and got us over the line. Viney was below his best so he will improve - no doubt. T Mac needs to have more influence on a game like he used to. That should start to come and soon. Strong tall forward play can lift a team. We have seen Tom do that before. Just as well quarters were shorter otherwise...... Hunt was a good option up forward but Kossi will add that defensive speed tackling pressure to a much higher level. That can make it difficult for backs to run out as easily and lift team mates. Kossi was missed yesterday and will come straight back in. Do we keep giving games to Jackson or do we bring in the Weed for another go. That will be hard for selectors. Might pay to give Jackson a go in a few Scratch games to build his confidence. He competed well against the blues but the more mature Weed may give us a bit extra if he can get his marking going. Looks like the Weed gets a go. Brown is a break glass in case of emergency selection. Not there yet. May and Lever still trying to get that 'chemistry' going. Will eventually happen and that should gel the backline. We did win, with a number of new players it may take a little time for it all to come together. Its wait and see from here.
  24. Who knows we may one day see Jackson roving to Bradtke.
  25. Pickett looks like the type of small forward player we really need. Gee, those highlights look good. I have watched them a few times.
