  1. I think this will be development year at Casey for JVR. With TMc and Ben Brown contracted until end 2024 and both in their 30's easily by then best to ease him in. No rush. Another good pre season will see him in good stead for a few games or more nest season. The club long term would be looking at him, Luke Jackson, Weid and Fritter to be the base of our taller forwards going forward. Fritter plays small and tall. No doubt we will be looking at recruiting another over the next couple of years.
  2. The way Jason Taylor has been recruiting he will likely end up a Dees Hall of Famer one day.
  3. Clubs down the bottom tend to go to the draft for a rebuild and once the list has a base of young talent they then go for established players. Eg we drafted heavily and then went for Lever and May. I do not think Jackson will on on West Coast radar for the moment.
  4. Better COVID week off than an injury week off. Gives us the chance to give some players a run which we did not get a chance to do last year. All pending we win of course. Would not mind Majak getting a run to see whether he is up to AFL but the chances of both Gawn and Jacko out at the same time are minimal. So i doubt he will be selected.
  5. He is still very young and inexperienced. It would be way harder to play to his current standard and grow as a player in a bottom 4 team than the top team. His manager would be aware of that. I think we will see at least one more contract. Not sure about our CAP position though.
  6. Jordan will likely get a run at Half back with Harmes or Brayshaw to swap back as the break glass in case of emergency situation.
  7. Robbo and his band were very, very good at the members/supporters day after the GF at the MCG. Definitely worthy of live TV.
  8. I think Gus will want to see how this season is panning out before committing. No doubt he will be looking at life after football and taking that into account when making a decision. Probably looking at possibilities of media after footy. Is getting exposure and experience with Gus and Gawny. Also the more success he has as a player the better after footy looks. Chances are he will reach an agreement with the club. Probably a 2 year tops 3.
  9. The reality is Luke while a gun in the making still has a lot of development to go through before going to another club for big $$$. He would be far better off for his own good signing on for a least another 2 years if not the RFA. Its way easier to perform in a top side like the Dees with the likes of Gawn and our mids than with a rebuilding team without a Gawn. I am tipping his management will advise him to stay while at the same time negotiating a good deal.
  10. We may well need the depth if COVID hits clubs during the season. Looks like at or near to peak in Vic? I think our depth would likely see us fare better than most clubs if players miss COVID games. If our run of luck with injuries continues it may be the only way our depth gets AFL exposure? Although we may find players managed a little more this year.
  11. Ben Brown is a proven AFL good player over a long period. They tend to pick the tempo up quicker. North wanted to bank his salary for future 'mature player' recruiting while presently recruiting kids and list building. We were just strategically smart picking him up for draft pick peanuts. We will get performance compared way better draft pick value from BB than the Cats will get from Cameron.
  12. Watched it again. Sparrow had a very good game. He will just keep getting better. Set up a couple of goals at crucial times.
  13. I usually dump Fox Footy over the summer but kept it this year to watch the GF over and over and over....... Every time i watch it i see great things i had missed in prior viewings.
  14. Viney form ok is pretty much a walk up start for selection. Dunstan will have to earn his spot and he would know that. There may well be the odd injury or form issues that create a gap or 2.
  15. Well done Clayton Oliver. Should end up one of the Dees best ever. Gus Brayshaw played his best game for the season in the GF. Very suited to the 'hand to hand' combat in a GF. Very good at dropping back and doing the heavy lifting.
  16. at news and great recruiting by JT and his team.
  17. From a 9th May 2018 AFL Website article on Father/Sons: Watch list: Jeff White's son Kalani, 11, is another the club is keeping an eye on while he plays his footy for Surfers Paradise in Queensland. White also has twin sons named Kai and Tahj, still only seven years old. Adem Yze's son Noah, 12, Aaron Davey's son Marley, 8, David Schwarz's son Cooper, 14 and Shane Woewodin's son Taj, 15, are others on the Demons' radar, although admittedly they are all very young. Defender Nathan Brown also has three sons – Kynan, 13, Jake, 11, a talented soccer player, and Ryder, 9. Past father-son successes: Todd and Jack Viney are the club's major success story, with father and son both winners of the Demons' best and fairest award (1993, 1998 and 2016 respectively). Steven and Billy Stretch, Ron Barassi snr and jnr, Alan and Chris Johnson and Glenn Molloy and Graham Molloy are other examples of Melbourne's father-son combinations. - Ben Guthrie
  18. Looks pretty quick and goes hard.
  19. Judd McVee East Fremantle, WAFL / Geraldton FC State: Western Australia Height: 183cm Weight: 72kg Date of Birth: 07/08/03 Medium midfielder who can also play across half-back and use his elite kicking skills to set up the play. All-Australian at Under-16s level in 2019, he has a high footy IQ and is very creative with his vision and clean hands. Has similar traits to Essendon star Darcy Parish in the way he hunts the footy around stoppages and was a good performer at Under-18s level in the WAFL, averaging 14.9 disposals in 12 matches. Represented Western Australia at Under-19s level in two matches this year as he continued his development.
  20. I was wrong 1 rookie spot taken Judd McVEE
  21. Its a little confusing. 3 rookies were delisted and i rookie Jordan upgraded to the primary list. Does that mean 4 rookie s[pots available??? 5 players off the Primary list and 3 drafted on, Jordan upgraded and Dunstan recruited. Bradke delisted as Cat B.
  22. We may?? get a fairly early rookie pick if clubs pick up their committed picks with their first picks. We are one of the few clubs that did not move players off the main list with a promise to rookie them. The may pick them up with their last picks though?????? Not sure.
  23. Off the Primary list = 5. Hore, Jetta, Jones, VB and Lockhart. Jordan added from Rookie List. Rookies of the list =net 2. De Classe and Nietscke (Jordan added to main list) CatB Bradke delisted Added to Main list via Draft = 3 van Rooyen, Howes and Woey. So including Jordan NET 1 down on main list we can fill. So far it looks like we can fill 1 position on the main list and 3 on rookie list. Also can recruit a CatB if we want to bring it back to the same numbers and set up as last year. Summery : Net 4 to add plus option of Cat B My guess only. Hoping for a ruck: Josh Cripps?? Could be an interesting afternoon.
  24. Good pick up at 39.
  25. Pick 50 should come back to 47 after the Saints and GWS use picks on Academy players. The Saints may have to trade a future for one or 2 picks if earlier than expected bids are made. We have a fair wait from 21 to our pick 38 so i expect we might try to package 38 and 42 to go higher.
