  1. He will get the ball inside 50 with speed and has a big tank. Quick movement is important. Happy with the pick.

I am tipping North picks Curtin. He will be a gun. We may find Either Sanders or Watson available at our pick bit I think from 'expert intel' we will pick Windsor who will be able to move the ball very quickly into the forward line. Our movement forward has been very slow causing no space for forwards to operate.
  3. Smoke and mirrors this draft. Twomey said on gettable the same clubs were in line for the same players in the first 10 or more picks. Usually we see one or 2 surprise selections. So they would be playing games with each other.
  4. JT played down the Tholstrup visit. Said Jeffersen played some good footy at VFL and needs another preseason. Hopefully we see Jeffersen play a few AFL games next year.
  5. I will back in JT's record and go with who ever he picks at 6. Cal Twomey said Windsor is light and may not play much year 1. So if we pick him we may need some patience.
  6. I can't see Curtin getting past Nth. We have told Tomlinson he is required and signed up Hore as a back up down back. That tells the world we have some depth concerns. If that is the case why would we overlook a young gun in Curtin if available who may also play other positions. It may be we are expecting Kalani White in the 2025 draft as a CFB? Curtin looks terrific in his highlights package. Could be smoke and mirrors from clubs? It may also be that Windsor has a huge amount of improvement in front of him and we are set on him. Windsor also looks good in his highlights. Our main 'express pace' ATM comes from Pickett, Chandler and Bowey. Another quick will be good.
  7. I would be happy with either Leake, Tholstrup or Windsor at pick 11. They all have loads of talent. One or 2 will be available at our pick. Obviously depends on internal rankings which in part will consider needs.
  8. I would be happy with O'Sullivan at our 1st pick. He is regarded as a swing player who could play forward as well. Given Petty may leave for the Crows next year we could nab a mid in next years draft given the crows would have to come up with some good picks.
  9. He looks good. We have recruited well out of WA. Our scouts must be top notch. Perspective is that he is Under 18 playing against men in a good standard WAFL. Not sure how he tested for speed, agility etc. If we pick him i will back our recruiters.
  10. This weeks Gettable on the AFL website did a mock 20 based on needs ie holes in list - players to cover etc. At 7 we bid on Read (GC) and pick O'Sullivan. Pick 13 we take Wilson. Doubt whether we would pick Wilson. Rookie me profile lists improvements as contested work and strength. Still i am not selecting. They have Caddy at 9 (GWS), Sanders at 10 (Cats) and Leake at 12 (crows). I suspect we may try to trade up our pick 11 2 or 3 spots using our 2024 1st and our 2023 pick 42. Doubt we will see any takers.
  11. Great that we have nominated Kynan. Hopefully he develops into a good player. He is deceptively quick and plays the Dees style of contested footy.
  12. According to BF today concerning how many live picks clubs have. I Have not checked it. Melbourne Starting list size: 36 Out: 5 (Hibberd, Dunstan retired, Grundy, Jordon, Harms trade/FA) In: 3 (Billings, Fullarton, McAdam trade) - plus D.Turner possibly promoted Current senior list: 34 players Current rookies: 4 Cat A (McVee, Sestan, Turner, Verrall) + 2 Cat B (Moniz-Wakefield, Farris-White) Live picks: 4 (6, 11, 42, 93)
  13. Lance Collard is in the WCE Academy and they cannot match bids to pick 40. Zero Hanger has him in the range 20 - 35. AFL Draft Profile: Lance Collard - AFL News - Zero Hanger
  14. Paywall. Who does the Age has us picking?
  15. Today's HUN has us taking Leake (based on latest talk (speculaton) and Windsor
  16. Our 1st pick in my opinion will be out of in order of probability: Sanders, Caddy, Watson, O'Sullivan. 2nd Pick in order of probability: Murphy, Tholstrup, Leake, Shoenmaker. Our 1st pick is effectively pick 8 and our2nd pick is effectively pick 15 given Academy and F/S likely bids. There is maybe the usual surprise pick in the top 8 opening up extra 'touted' pick at our turn. The is sure to be 2 or 3 bolters/surprises in the top 15 opening up 2 or 3 of the 'touted' players to pick from. This draft will be very interesting. Read that we are interested in Leake (along with cats and saints) and that he could be a top 10 bolter. Shoenmaker in the same article is said to be another bolter maybe in the late teens. Would not be surprised if we surprise pick at the draft.

Happy to go to the draft with pick 6 and 11. I would however trade pick 11 and our future 1st to go higher. So we would have 6 and a pick better than 11. Doubt that will happen.

Can someone please confirm our current pick holding for 2023: 5,11,39 (received for JJ), 81 (to pick Kynan Brown). Not sure whether i am correct on above.

Interestingly we have freed up a $mill in CAP space. Its been mooted by posters that we may make a play for GWS pick 7 and Nick Haynes.

Pick 6 which will be pick 7 gives maybe Sanders, O'Sullivan, Watson in the frame, Pick 11 puts Wilson, Murphy , Stevens, Shoemaker in the frame.

Its the poor decision that should have seen him suspended. Irresponsible and putting another in danger. Players get paid to make good decisions at the elite level. Something not quite right about no penalty.

One young gun will not solve WCE's problems. They will need several young players and i believe they will trade pick 1 for access to them. We have several 26/27 year old top players. Reid would be expected to come in and add value pretty quickly. North want multiple picks for young players and they are getting them via AFL kindness. Not a fan of trading Petty. Not sure how the club see Adams, Turner and Jefferson coming on as KPP'S. There is something cooking at the MFC for sure. The other side of the coin is that the club see us picking good players with those picks. I note that we have freed up a lot of CAP space with Grundy and Harmes off the list = circa $1 mill. I note we also have some young players at VFL level up for their 2nd/3rd or 4th preseason, eg Woey, Howes, Adams, Jefferson.
  24. All the best James. You have been a premiership player as well as a very good footballer. Not many people can say that. Cheers
  25. O'Sullivan will be a chance if he slips a spot or 2. 198CMS and in the 90's kg wise already. Probably will not need more than a pre season or so to fit in as a 3rd Tall then eventually 1st or 2nd KPB. If we miss out on him we may have a chance to pick up Murphy (if we nab GC's pick 10) a KPB that needs a few KGs on his 200cm but looks a good type. In this situation it would be ok if it was Sanders and Murphy. Of course we will hopefully get Kalani White in the 2025 draft which will be taken into account in our next couple of dratfs.
