  1. And how many Demonlanders were clambering not so long ago for us to trade Fitzy [because we had Clark, Dawes and Hogan din't we)! Maybe it would not have been too silly to have even kept Sellar now?
  2. Why would you drop Michie (c.f. Byrnes for example)? He wasn't our worst player by a long shot!
  3. I agree 100% with Sassy so I have re-posted their ranking below: 6: Jack Watts ( everything he touched turned to gold, reckon he is about to show us why he was a pick 1.) 5: Nathan Jones ( was absolutely everywhere and busted his gut.) 4: Bernie Vince ( if he kicked straight he could have had 30 touches and four goals) 3: Dom Tyson ( made mistakes but 32 touches and a goal and we have a gem on our hands) 2: Lynden Dunn ( was super impressed, his kicking was a real highlight ) 1: Matt Jones ( that chase down of Gilbert, looked very zippy and clean )
  4. If we win well, we may even end up top of the ladder momentarily. Now that would be a nice boost for membership!
  5. Icing on the cake would be for GWS to realise that he have not got room for three key forwards and swap us Tom Boyd for Pedersen.
  6. They will both get a game! Roos has as much as pre-empted it.
  7. Our list was worse last year and it had little influence on the AFL [after the other 17 clubs all got in their ear]!
  8. I agree with JKH under your definition of 'find' however I suspect Tyson will be the most influential in truning around our [midfield] fortunes [with a significant assistance from Vince, Mitchie and Cross]. Georgiou is also obviously a find as a mature recruit however he merely adds depth to a reasonable backline and will not turn around our fortunes like Tyson and Co. will!
  9. Why would the AFL give us a Priority Pick when they didn't last year when we only had two wins? We should have had a PP last year and we should see Tom Boyd running out this year in the red and blue [instead of orange]. Given that last year was at the tail end if a succession of poor showings, I cannot see what justification that the AFL can give for rewarding us with a PP next year? In my view, it would be a gross injustice if they ever award a PP again [to any team] in the light of the way they shafted us last year!
  10. Bluey: Bernie Vince looks a class above the rest of our list imo Goalkicking: Jeremy Howe if we get even 2 of our forwards back this year he will get the third defender.. Most Improved: Jimmy Toumpas will demonstrate why he was worthy of No. 3 pick. Number 1 ruck at season's end: Maxy Gawn Best first-year player: Jay Kennedy- Harris looks a massive steal James Frawley, stay or leave? Stay, particularly if he sees a good horizon with Roos at the helm. Season win tally: 5-6. we finally have some structure but it's still only a step forward, got alot left to do
  11. Maybe we were a bit quick to get rid of Sellar [given events since]. I expect that there were some who had reasonable expectations that we might have been awarded a Priority Pick for only winning two games and we could of used that on Jesse Hogan and we would have been sweet in the forward line.
  12. Whilst waiting for Dawes and Hogan to emerge, I hope that Watts can spend some time as a target in our forward 50. Be nice to have somebody who knows how to find the goals [apart frpm JKH].
  13. How can Hogan be 'back' when he is yet to play a game?
  14. Don't think that Chip, McDonald and Judy are our only three [tallish] defenders, both Dunn and Georgiou will be important to Roos this year, particularly if we get any injuries to the first three. Also Dunn is capable of going forward and kicking a goal and we certainly need some reserve back-up options up there.
  15. Surely you are joking? We should have had a PP last year on the basis of our two wins yet the AFL succombed to pressure from the other Clubs and denied us our due. Why would this year be different? We should have Tom Boyd on our list this year, making our forward line much stronger for the next decade combined with Hogan and Fitzy.
  16. Is anybody staying for the Casey vs Box Hill Hawks game?
  17. We should of kept Sellar in anticipation of this.
  18. I heard that it might be on the MFC website and/or twitter [which I don't really understand]
  19. It is a bit hard to select against hawthorn from the squad offered and shame about Dawes & Gawn still not available. Maybe the following would look good as practice/preparation for Round 1? B: 41. Alexis Georgiou 8. James Frawley 14. Lynden Dunn HB: 31. Jack Grimes 25. Tom McDonald 46. Dean Terlich C: 5. Jimmy Toumpas 2. Nathan Jones 4. Jack Watts HF: 38. Jeremy Howe 21. Cameron Pedersen 9. Jack Trengove F: 24. Jay Kennedy-Harris 48. Jack Fitzpatrick 1. Jesse Hogan Foll: 42. Jake Spencer 12. Dom Tyson 23. Bernie Vince Inter: 18. Daniel Cross 22. Viv Michie 7. Jack Viney Sub: 44. Rohan Bail Emerg: 45. Matt Jones 13. Jordie McKenzie 19. James Strauss Unlucky: 10. Shannon Byrnes & 17. Sam Blease
  20. Sure hope we promote Georgiou before Round 1. He may be quite had for us this year in providing depth in our backline!
  21. Fellow Demonlanders, Round 1 in 2014 gives us a wonderful opportunity to 'go for percentage'. What a wonderful start for the year if we are not only in the eight by virtue of winning but we lead the ladderboard after the first round. A great start for the year and the game is ours to lose [but let's hope not]. We should accept nothing less than to start the year as top of the ladder.
  22. Nothing wrong with the rookies that we have targetted [i.e. would you get rid of Georgiou to make room?] and i guess it was a toss-up between him and Bennell.
  23. If we finish less than 40,000 this year it will be massively disappointing! If we can all convince one or two mates into rejoining [or joining for the first time] we can easily make it especially when we are 28K+ to date!
  24. Well you may not be sure but i similarly don't think it a good idea to squib out of a scheduled practice match.I am sure that the playing group will take confidence out of playing the Premiers as will Casey against the Box Hill Hawks.
