2012 ... potentially our best intake (draft/trade) year?
CBDees replied to All the Jacks's topic in Melbourne Demons
You conveniently forgot to mention Pederson, Rodan, Byrnes & Gillies. I suspect that on balance it was an average year and that the 2013 year with Cross, Vince, Mitchie, Tyson, Salem, Hunt, JKH, Clisby and Reilly will prove its equal or better [even though we got robbed of priority picks despite only winning two games in the season]. Also the possibility of one or two rookies working out.- 24 replies

nor was Greg Williams!

If Watts is on the wing that is nearly tantamount to being an outside mid as he can cover the ground quickly enough after the bounce to receive the ball from Jones, Cross, Tyson and Co. and then deliver it into our forward line [presuming we have some of them over their niggling injuries by the First round].

and Sean Charles

Then we did very well indeed {and they would definitely be ruing the day).

Like Jack, Travis was capable of greatness and a silky player. Remind me, what did we get in return when we dispatched him to Brisbane? (Whatever it is, i suspect they are rueing it now!)

A classic example being Port Adelaide last year!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
CBDees replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think the reason we got Viney second round was that there was nobody below us challenging in the first round and we obviously came to an arrangement with GWS. It was not related to his skill or where he would have fallen if he was not eligible under FS criteria. -
I would like to think that this year everybody is ineligible! Bennell?

Three isn't optimistic > four is optimistic!

i AGREE COMPLETELY. I predict us being 3/2 or maybe even 4/1 if we beat WC at the "G". I cannot see St Kilda [in particular] sitting four positions above us on the ladder.

It was probably footage from Monday with a 24 hour embargo. Not enough sport happening in Melbourne so they had to fabricate some news out of old footage. -
Methinks that another merger proposal is being suggested by Beats (post #10). This will have Don Scott riding into the fray on his polo pony!

Nice profile of him on the MFC app and website today also.

Happy to see Blease in one pocket and JKH in the other.

So why are you posting on this thread? Maybe you are following the wrong code? With you attitude against authority, perhaps you should be following Victory or the Wanderers when you may find supporters with a similar view.
-
Why would you want him in the forward line with his kicking? No way i would like to see him ahead of JKH or Blease!

How did the two blokes we re-signed go? (viz. Matt Jones and dean kent)

Casey Scorpions took Fevola after he departed the Queensland State. Maybe they should repeat/compound their mistake with Brown? I am sure Roos will be pleased!
-
Maybe in our utilisation of Cross and Vince in the midfield, we can rest Cross in the backline and Vince up forward?

The AFL has stuffed up the Western Sydney experiment
CBDees replied to Yeats8's topic in Melbourne Demons
It is not so much them poaching Scully [who in the end we came out on top with Hogan] but the fact that so many drafts were heavily compromised by GWS [and GCS] denying the games [potential] elite players of those years the chance of playing with a decent club. In particular, the Demons were particularly impacted by this as they came onto the scene at a time when we would of otherwise had low [and priority] draft picks. In effect, they ensured that the dynasty of the Club's most powerful teams would continue to prevail by denying the cellar-dwellers the chance to equalise by improving their playing lists (the supposed primary reason of the draft system). -
Probably therein lies a value on our list if they slipstream some of their teammates into greater effort, culminating in a fitter match-ready team by round 1.

Training in 40° next week may work in our favour when we play in Alice Springs.
