  1. I thought it was 10 weeks rather than 8 weeks but nevertheless he will still need to work his way in through Casey if they don't want to rush things, and there is the possiblity that we may get another LTI in the meantime. At the end of the day however, much will be dependent of how match-fit Garland is for Round 1 as it would be his spot that Georgiou would be filling in for.
  2. Don't mind the look of this but I would go for Salem instead of Blease [subject to his relative performance against the Cats and the Hawks]
  3. Apparently there are twelve Casey Players making up the team numbers today. I wonder how much Sportsbet money is on troy Davis as BOG?
  4. To me, doing OK would be finishing somewhere in the top 8. What we need is: minimal injuries to our top players (especially our rejuvenated midfield); having our three key tall fowards on the park for most of the year and JKH putting in a blinder each weekend!
  5. Move him in to replace whoever is on the 'long-term-injured' list asap [and keep him there]!
  6. Bail + Jay Kenedy-Harris = some excitement amongsy Melbourne fans for this season!
  7. No you can thank our stars that we have another indigenous star on our list who is the best think since Davey and Farmer combined!
  8. Although this is meant to be about Geelong/Melbourne where there are extra subs [c'f' Round 1), I don't mind the way you have nominated Salem as i too like the guy's approach and talent. Not sure why you have nominated Pederson [who has been training with the Forwards] in the back pocket in lieu of Terlich and that is one change that i would easily make. As regards the Geelong/Melbourne match [which this thread relates to] of would go with your team, with Terlich instead of Pedersen and Bail and Michie as the two additional interchange which we are allowed.
  9. Now that we have seen both Georgiou and King in action last Friday evening, does anybody who voted for Jetta want to reconsider their vote [or does anybody else want to add a vote]?
  10. I don't mind this line-up D26 but I would like to see Salem in for Barry and play at least one pre-season game so that Roos can evaluate him before the season proper.
  11. I like the way you think Young Dee but my alternative would be: OUT IN Max King - Dawes Pedersen - Hogan Spencer - Gawn Blease - Viney Nicholson - Watts Barry - Salem I know that Roos intends to take his time with the younger draftees but i just suspect taht should Salem play, many members may get a surprise as they did with JKH on Friday night.
  12. I cannot understand the logic of suggesting an either/or in the case of Barry/JKH. I would definately have JKH as a lock. Not only is he exciting to watch [and effective] but he will gain us members as he makes us an exciting team to follow. His last quarter was nothing short of outstanding last week.
  13. Judging from Friday evening, by Round five we will have four wins (minimum)!
  14. I would love to see the first five all play: 1. Jesse Hogan 3. Christian Salem 4. Jack Watts 6. Chris Dawes 7. Jack Viney however this does raise the problem as to which five players from last Friday do you drop from last Friday's game? The problem will only get worse in selecting a team for round 1 and beyond, as that will require seven to be dropped [as we reduce the interchage] and then nine to be dropped as we will welcome back Garland and then Clark. A nice problem for us in some ways but wonderful news for Casey.
  15. The input of the off-season midfield recruits such as Vince, Mitchie, Cross and Tyson on Friday was very very impressive and it will define our season. Already I think many Demonlanders are re-thinking their predictions for the Win-Loss ration over the first five games of the season (and hopefully many will be leaning towards my heroic prediction of winning 4/5). When one consider what these guys will add to the midfield, the realisation that we have acquired a sturdy midfiled back-up in Georgiou, an exciting forward pocket in JKH and we still have to debut our trio of power forwards, I suspect that 2014 is going to be an exciting year for Demon supporters. Welcome to the MFC Bernie Vince!
  16. I haven't had a chance to watch the match yet but from those who did, which four players would you drop for the Geelong game to make way for the four guys we will be welcoming back?
  17. I cannot imagine how your boss got sick of it? Lucky you are not a Hawthorn supporter!
  18. Georgiou has been recruited as a [tall] backman so perhaps he shouls be played there tomorrow night. I accept your comment about Dunn however he has been in the system a for quite a few years now and is equally suited to helping out forward or back. For tomorrow at least his presence would be more beneficial in the forward line and his playing there tomorrow evening should not upset Roos plans or the need for stability. Personally, i would have him as one of the interchange, being capable to assist either front or back.
  19. A slight change on D26 by naming Lyden as an interchange player for this particular match. He is one of the few who can go forward or back wherever there is a need. B: Alexis Georgiou James Frawley Mitch Clisby HB: Jack Grimes Tom McDonald Dean Terlich C: Jack Watts Nathan Jones Bernie Vince HF: Jimmy Toumpas Cameron Pedersen Sam Blease F: Max King Jeremy Howe Jay Kennedy-Harris R: Jake Spencer Dom Tyson Jack Trengove I: Daniel Cross Viv Michie Lynden Dunn James Strauss S: Michael Evans Matt Jones
  20. Who are your two proposed subs [or who are the 3rd and 4th interchange]?
  21. With the naming of Georgiou in the squad I wonder if there will be any temptation to move Dunn down forward in this game to cover for our dearth of talls in the forward half?
  22. I suggest that you contact Jay Clark at the Hun and get him to check his sources. Melbourne Max King could be the answer for Melbourne against Richmond in the NAB Challenge by: Jay Clark From: Herald Sun February 10, 2014 6:22PM MYSTERY teen Max King has emerged as the answer to Melbourne’s big man worries against Richmond on Friday night. The Dees are nursing back to health a clutch of key talls meaning new coach Paul Roos will have to field a makeshift forward line and ruck setup in their NAB Challenge opener. King, a 200cm ruckman taken at No. 19 in last year’s rookie draft, started the pre-season sixth in line in the club’s ruck pecking order.
