  1. lol good point. Still want him back!
  2. I feel like it's lauder because it's Richmond when before it was us, but yeah GWS going so well hasn't helped.
  3. Just read this: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/recovery-session-six-weeks-ago-nobody-thought-tigers-list-needed-patching-20160502-gokf0o.html Why is it that Richmond get sympathy, and can even use the perfectly valid excuse of the expansion clubs getting talent, but Melbourne can't? We were shouting this argument from the rooftops 3 years ago and no one listened. Now Richmond cry foul and all of a sudden everyone agreed that the expansion clubs had too many concessions. Sigh.
  4. Oh FFS give it a rest AFL! Fix the goddamn draw before you start tinkering with [censored] that isn't broke. But nooooooooooooooo, can't fix the draw because the media stakeholders would complain. I'm sure this 'expanded' finals series would benefit those interests as well...
  5. So every Victorian club MUST have a home game at Etihad? Did the AFL just make this decision unilaterally or did it just work out that way that everyone sold a home game there?
  6. Oh I dunno, I sometimes enjoy his meltdowns. However I think on this occasion, like you, I'd prefer Oliver on the ground over the comedy value of a picket fence rant.
  7. This word about Tmac is concerning, but it 'feels' correct after having watch the match. I just struggle to believe that a coach with Roos' experience would continue to let Riewolt on the loose like that.
  8. Fortunately Oliver should be fresh
  9. lol you serious? Even interstate teams? Why? How did that happen?
  10. I'm guessing it was because he says "I'ma gonna win" with such confidence before race and screws up the rocket start. And agreed, Yoshi was the best kart in '64.
  11. Best thing I've seen in a long time
  12. That game was team effort. Garland had as much to do with it as McKenzie, and a lot of it was illegal holding at the stoppages that wasn't paid. I'd much rather old Gazza gets the Jack Viney treatment again. Even if we no longer use him to tag, I just wanna see some more of those crunching tackles!
  13. I'm not sure on the Carlton one. I was in fits of laughter watching them against Essendon yesterday. They are horrendous.
  14. I'd agree with this assessment. Sad to hear Melksham isn't the answer. So if 50% of our backline works better one on one, why are we trying to zone? Is it because it allows us to push up the ground more offensively? I'm all for the zone if it's tactically sound, but if we don't have the cattle we don't have the cattle. Who does that leave that's capable of this style of play? Salem? Vince? Looking at their last (and only) couple of games, Hunt and Wagner look like they might have the potential to pull it off. But a back line with 3 one-on-oners, 2 potentials and Salem doesn't scream "let's implement the zone" to me. I dunno, maybe Roos has more faith in these guys. But even in the wins we've had this season, we've bled goals.
  15. Interesting thoughts. Not having seen much of him, is Melksham a 'smart' footballer who would help in this regard? I'm just thinking if you take away the 'dumbest' and put in someone who's better at the zone than anyone we currently have, that exchange would make a huge difference.
  16. I love that the article specifically says they didn't want to rebuild through the draft like Melbourne, because their supporters wouldn't support a long-term rebuild. I'm so happy PJ and Roos don't think like this
  17. Meh, they played better than we did. They were faster and more accurate with their disposals. I'm not panicking. We've seen what we're capable of. This loss isn't a set-back. It just feels that way because the bookies had us as favourites for some stupid reason. I'm not nearly as shattered after this loss as I was after Essendon. Confident we will beat GC next week.
  18. It'll start off subsidized, but I can see it becoming profitable soon. AFL is in our blood. The addition of the women's league means I get to see the Dees twice every weekend instead of once. I'm stoked they're doing this. I'll watch it. You don't have to if you don't want to, no one's forcing you. I honestly can't wait to see Daisy out there in the red and blue, especially against the bulldogs. She's as much a demon as anyone in the men's team, probably more so than a lot of them. I agree with Return to Glory. The women's league is a much much better expansion project for the game than overseas. I can't wait to take my daughter to the footy, and she can actually she women play.
  19. Nail on the head here. The AFL isn't being sexist, although it may look that way. They're looking at the best way to make some MONAAAAAAAY. Leave it alone AFL, FFS.
  20. Burn of the year!
  21. Yup. At one time, Turnbull was my great white hope. Socially progressive, economically conservative (similar I guess to how Rudd positioned himself before he massively failed to be either one of those things). Now it's pretty clear he either didn't mean what he was saying before he became PM or made a bunch of compromises to get there. Either way, it doesn't matter. My vote was his to lose and he's lost it. Can't vote for Shorten either. Despite him actually saying some things I agree with in the last week, he remains irreparably compromised by union interests. Plus I have no faith in his ability to competently implement anything. Looks like I'll be drawing a great big dick on my vote card again. No way I'm giving a protest vote to the greens. I've moved from a position of 'disappointed with Australian politics' to 'actively disengaged'. I don't read nearly as much news about politics as I used to. I have no faith that anyone in any position of power in any political party has the country's best interests at heart. I agree that those issues you've highlighted do seem to be the big ones for this election. Just on the Manus Island fiasco - I do find it funny that Labor is making this out to be the Liberals' fault. It was their goddamn policy, the Liberals just continued it when in power. Now they have the nerve to blame the Libs? I mean, the Liberals' hands are far from clean on this, but Labour is just making it out like they had nothing to do with it and they are the sole guardians of human rights. [censored] I've made myself angry again.
  22. Just reading that gives me shivers. You must have been damn scary, nut.
