WTF did I just read?
-
The other one's not doing too badly in the key position forward department...
-
No one. It's just that the things we normally learn aren't exactly... uh... useful? Is that the word? I'm trying to say I've learned a lot about jolly good floggings on here.

I see Turnbull has eliminated all possibility of making changes to negative gearing, after going to such lengths to ensure it was scoped in to the new tax review that Abbot scoped it out of. His journey to the dark side of the force is almost complete.

Possible unpopular opinion: If fit, Mitch Clark would be perfect for our current side. Dominant tall forward, perfect back-up ruck, had the fitness to follow around the ground. Unfortunately I can't see Spencer in this role. He's backup if Gawn goes down, nothing more, despite his huge heart and effort. We need a proper foward/ruck so we don't lose momentum when Gawn rests forward.

I reckon you give him too much credit. Hooker is an above average player who the above teams seem to be willing to offer a star-level contract for, especially given his age. Don't get me wrong, I like Hooker. He'd be a good addition to any of the above teams. I just don't see how he's worth that much. It's entirely possible though that the teams are looking at increased salary cap spending because of the new TV rights deal, and $800,000 p/a isn't nearly as high proportionately as it used to be. I still think 6 years for a 28 year old is too long though. I'd say it's too long for almost any 28 year old in the league, unless you need to get them over the line to get a flag in the next couple of years. This contract is more important to Essendon than it is to anyone else. It shows them retaining good talent and that's what they need to do.
-
They're probably flush with room in the salary cap since they don't have to budget for Watson and Heppell. 5 years to Hooker feels like far too long. He's good, but not THAT good.

Ah Nasher. Normally I agree with a lot of what you say, but on this I just can't. This is the internet, where dicks live. I know this isn't 4chan, but still, internet is internet. Embrace it my friend. Here is a totally unrelated gif from a children's cartoon:

I missed it too, but if it was anything like the actual game, I assume Max won easily.

True, and you have to respect the contrition (if it's there, haven't seen the presser). Was still a dirty thing to do though.

I was too young to go to games back when Jacko played, so love when people post this stuff. A few things: 1 - He has a bit of the Hogan stutter about his run up 2 - Is that what a forward line looked like without a 'flood' or 'zone'? Cool. -
I dunno man, I've made many mistakes, but I've never punched a bloke in the back of the head.

Sydney, GWS and Gold Coast the only ones in the 'premiership quartile'? I feel like 5 rounds may not be a big enough sample size. Maybe 10 rounds?
-
Only if he simply sits there the whole time making "ssshhhh" noises placing his finger on his tips.

After the North game where they missed multiple obvious throws, I don't think the umpires' eyesight can be trusted in the slightest.

Collingwood v Essendon ANZAC Day: Why we should care
Bluey's Dad replied to Mach5's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've never been a big fan of the ANZAC day match. Equating sports and war never sat well for me, feels like it devalues the service of those who died. I mean, have the minutes silence and everything as it should be, but the marketing and billing around it just doesn't feel right. The game day feels like a marketing opportunity more than a day of honouring sacrifice. The fact that Essendon play it, given their recent scandals, makes it even worse. The footy pageantry undermines the significance of the day. Just my 2 cents. -
Last year I would have been really angry with this, but now I'm just mildly frustrated. We have depth now. VBD out for a month isn't ideal, but not panic stations. Weird feeling.
-
I hope you factored in some CPI. Could be worth a heap! Good bet in any case, Richmond massive pretenders. We at least know where we're at.

RFCSS? The mantle is passing...

Damo Barrett has Melbourne in the gun
Bluey's Dad replied to Leoncelli_36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Surely not. I can think of very few alternative punching bags that would motivate me to throw some haymakers. Barrett has a massive future in marketing fitness equipment shaped like his head. Well, maybe Joe Daniher.
