I think I recall reading somewhere that Garlett isn't too far from re-signing as well. EDIT: Cheers Vagg. Sorry for the scare

Out: Harmes, Salem (Depending on concussion), In: ANB, Oliver Harmes looked really flat on the weekend so I'd like him to have a week at Casey so he can build up some form. I still very see him as a key part of our future. Salem varies on whether he recovers from his hit with Viney on the weekend. ANB certainly deserves his chance after several consistent weeks at Casey. Oliver is an automatic in if he's fit and good to go. Hunt gets another crack in my opinion. Has made the odd mistake here and there but I love watching him trying to take the game on with his scintillating pace. He will only get better. I reckon one more week for Trengove in the VFL as well (mainly out of selfishness as I want to see him return on the MCG!)
-
Disappointed but by no means concerned. As a team, we were still able to kick 15 goals and now appear to be doing that on a weekly basis. We have a good defence but it was beyond average today with Jetta the player who came close to breaking even. Can't believe some posters who are already calling Petracca 'Toumpas 2.0'. Cut him some slack. Petracca's game was any that I would expect from a nervous kid playing his first game. Certainly had his moments and will be better for the run. Would love to see Oliver, Neal-Bullen and maybe even Trengove in the team next week in place of Harmes (who looked cooked today), Frost and perhaps Salem (depending on how he recovers from his concussion). Also, I believe Hogan is the first player to kick 7 goals for Melbourne since Robbo around 10 years ago.

Mayne and Neale are also speculated to move clubs at seasons end as well. Serious rebuild coming up for Freo. All and all, there's seriously been some terrible list management by Ross Lyon considering there is a real lack of young talent coming through.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY
Demon Jack replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
He didn't have the biggest game on Sunday night but he still looked incredibly lively and I don't remember him making many (if any) mistakes. I'll admit I was a tad sceptical about his recruitment but he's been fantastic so far and would easily be in the top five in our Best and Fairest. He also has a bit of pace! Something we've severely lacked over the last few years. Howe was serviceable during his tenure but we've received a significant upgrade here. -
Might actually consider going to Etihad just to see Petracca debut and hopefully a Dee's win. Ugh...I feel dirty already.

REPEAT!! REPEAT!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!! http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2016-04-27/petracca-to-make-afl-debut-against-saints

Round 5 AFL Team of the Week (Maxy & Jack)
Demon Jack replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gawn's also leading the AFL Round 5 'Player of the Week' public poll. For what it's worth, Jack Viney won the honours last week. Could be two Demons in a row. -
Is it just me, or has Harmes' disposal improved out of sight over the last 2-3 weeks? Love the way he tackles as well! Definitely won't be dropped.
-
Despite the fact he's clearly underdone, Gus still did some handy things on the weekend and against Collingwood as well. I still think he needs a good month at Casey to get some fitness and form back. I heard somewhere that Salem was on the bench for a good portion of the last quarter with ice on his upper part of his hamstring. At this stage In: Oliver, Petracca Out: Brayshaw, Salem (only if injured)
-
The man is a pure genius of psychological warfare. I love all these tough guys we have in the team now. Kent, Jones, Viney, Bugg. Heck, even Salem and Hunt were in the thick of the brawl on Sunday night.
-
I'm going to be completely honest and say that I'd completely forgotten he was on our list. He's 27 and should be at the peak of his powers at this stage of his career. I love Grimesy and and really empathise with him after all the hell he's had to endure over the last 5 years, but I doubt he will be at the MFC in his six months time.
-
His goal was pure class. Also, check out his no look handpass in his opening minute to Kent which led to Brayshaw's goal.
-
Because St Kilda are goofs. McCartin will be a good player but Petracca's ceiling is enormous.

Jack Viney's square off on Rance
Demon Jack replied to Vandenberger With The Lot's topic in Melbourne Demons
Viney cleared! -
N.Jones: Typical Jones performance Hogan: Some wasteful kicks Salem: Classy and composed Watts: Continued impressive form Viney: Absoloute mad dog Lumumba: Provides exciting run Brayshaw: Exciting first minute Gawn: Making Jim proud Tyson: Back in form Dunn: Solid defensive performance Kent: Manic forward pressure Frost: Doing just enough Pederson: A vital cog Vince: Incredible return performance McDonald: Great intercept marking Hunt: Speedy and feisty Bugg: Dosen't give a... Kennedy: There when needed Garlett: Game's best forward Jetta: Did Jetta things Wagner: Continues to grow Harmes: Remains exciting prospect

Funny you should say that. Wasn't there a Melbourne captain who went by the name of Nathan Jones who received little to no plaudits when he would play his guts out when his team was continuously smashed. Can't stand the channel 7 commentators sometimes (Hamish, Basil). Their bias is astounding.

I love Tomas Bugg.

Well, that was an experience and a half. What a win! A few observations Max Gawn played the best first half I've ever seen from a ruckman. He had those go-go gadget arms working superbly. Dom Tyson is back to his 2014 form. Provided he isn't suspended, Viney will go close to winning the Brownlow this year. Absolute jet! Watts continues to surprise. Has 12 majors after five rounds and is leading our goal kicking list. Speaking of leading goalkickers, tonight was just the second game where Hogan was gone goalless ... and we still kicked 20 goals! Despite the fact he didn't hit the scoreboard, 10+ marks and 17 odd touches is still a solid night up forward. Wagner and Hunt are guns in the making. Loved watching Hunt take on the opposition and use his dash. Brayshaw dosen't seem right at the moment. Injury? Fitness? Second year blues? Will still be a dynamite player for us but I think he needs an extended run in the twos. Kent continues to improve. Starting to put together a break out season. We play St Kilda next week. Dare we dream of three in a row?

I'm absolutely tired of Hawthorn. Smith was clearly holding the ball.
-
Still only 20 years old yet he plays with composure and skill. He'll only get better as the season progresses. He'll certainly be a scary prospect when he develops a tank and is able to run through the midfield more often.
-
Agreed, I loved Hogan's game on the weekend. Wasn't the star but he played his role incredibly well while Watts' got most of the chocolates. He was leading up the ground which is something we didn't see much of during the opening two rounds. Loved his big grab in the third quarter as well. Regardless, he will still kick 50+ goals this year.
