How much football have Demonland members played?
spirit of norm smith replied to Nasher's topic in Melbourne Demons
played 5 years in Southern League for Tooronga-Malvern (1sts and 2nds). Then 3 years for Highett - mainly in the 1sts (but in 2nds at the end). I was like a Dean Laidley type before I realised I was a good average player. Finished in 1999 and then enjoyed watching the Demons march to the GF in 2000 ... never went back. At 27, my dream of an AFL career was over -
another opinion on Freeman ... "Freeman is incredibly quick and powerful and compares himself to Dangerfield and Luke Shuey. Freeman can find the ball and he uses it really well. He’s an under rated kick and a real force as an outside player. He seems to have an AFL ready body. I’d like to see him try get the inside ball a little more, but other than that; there are no outstanding flaws to his game. Freeman’s combine was incredible – second in the 20m sprint with 2.82 seconds, he came 10th in the 3km run, 10th in the beep test with 14.10 and first in the repeat sprints".

The AFL are trying to kill Melbourne
spirit of norm smith replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
agree ... this is madness. why do we have an etihad home game. -
could Scharenberg slip to pick 9 ... I had Freeman as a lock for #9 BUT its a tough one if Scharenberg was available.
-
Freeman, Crouch, Salem, Lennon ... any are all good by me. I think all will be available (likely boyd, kelly, aish, scharenberg, billings as top 5, #6 Bontempelli #7 Kolodjashnji)

Brad Dalziel must be very unlucky... he played some good games in 2nd half of 2013.
-
agree with Riley ... look at Matthew Sully from Cats VFL team. Very good tall defender.

Taggert, Magner, Stark delisted; Clisby promoted
spirit of norm smith replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
outs: Sylvia (FA), Davey, Rodan, Macdonald (retired), Tynan, Davis, Sellar, Gillies, Taggert. rookies delisted: Stark, Magner, Couch. ins: Hogan (eligible), Tyson, Vince, Michie, Cross, Clisby (rookie upgrade). so 3 more main spots on the list and 4 rookie spots. draft #9, 40, 57, 91 (clisby upgrade). or we may pass on 57 & select PSD#2. -
avoid Nahas !!!

yes... shhhhhh. Fuller and Dumont were my ones to watch from the SANFL GF. Nathan Gorden also will be on an AFL list in 2014
-
Freeman tipped in Herald Sun Phantom Draft as our number 9 pick. He would fit in perfectly as a runner with real acceleration. Loves to run and bounce and deliver inside 50.
-
agree... Horsley is an option. Maybe rookie draft is best opportunity.

AFL NATIONAL DRAFT - Pick 40
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
one role we need is a tall rebounding defender... like a Grant Birchall or Andrew Mackie type Watched Tom Cutler video and fits the bill perfectly. 190 cms good pace and skills, versatile and good 2nd efforts. Predicted draft range 25-35 but my slide to 40 , I hope. -

order of preference... Freeman, Lennon, Crouch, Kolodjashnji, Bontempelli, Sheed, Dunstan, Salem, Taylor. Assume Boyd, Aish, Schareberg, Kelly and Billings are top 5. BTW our pick is effectively pick 8 as Kangas pick #8 is Luke Mcdonald as father/son selection.

Bail to Lions for pick 48... win win

Who will we delist next week?
spirit of norm smith replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bail and Nicholson are not in my future plans -
order of preference...from the likely available candidates Freeman Crouch Lennon Kolodjashjni Sheed Bontempelli Dunstan I assume Boyd, Aish, Kelly, Scharenberg, Billings are top 5.

Dunstan is the smoky at no.9 pick. A real hard footballer. Good mates with Jimmy Toumpas.

AFL NATIONAL DRAFT - Pick 57 or is it 58?
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
if we get Kade Kolodashnjjjjiii at pick 9, surely we choose Jake Kolodashnjjjjiii at pick 58. Double The Trouble for commentators
