PREGAME: Rd 22 vs Port Adelaide
spirit of norm smith replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Tom McDonald is ready for retirement. He’s moving slower and getting outbodied. Just hanging in. Has moments but is getting exposed too much. Goodwin had refused to play Tomlinson who surely walks out after getting overlooked again this year. -

Thats the worry. Our last 12 games are embarrassing losses and deteriorating playing style -
Thats just cruel. He would be very handy in red and blue.

Not just this week. We have lost clearances for 11 of the last 13 games. -
Its OBVIOUS RIGHT Dogs. Fast. Direct. Waves. Running. Dees. Slow. Indirect. Wide. Static. Do not question our premiership winning coach though !!!

Midfield. McQualter. Bust. Totally inept at centre clearance Forward line. Stafford. Bust (for last 3 years). No structure or strategy. Tackling. Is there any coach or special coach. Our tackling has gone from top to the worst in the league. Max Vineys jujitsu technique has Trac and JV7 as non competitive in tackling this year. Bizarre !! -

Our demise is not due to this youngster. Yes perhaps he’s not quite ready but given the 2023 draft group, JT thought he was the best option for a potential midfield role. Throlstrup is more of a half forward who could go into midfield in bursts. Like Cam Rayner, he will be a hot and cold type in my view. -

Clearances 12-1 at one stage. Now 17-9. Dees need to be more contested. Looking like bruise free footy. 🤬🤬🤬 -

Pathetic. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 I’m watching the Olympics now. Watching athletes with heart Will tune back in later -
Oops. McAdam just heard my post and did something!!!
-
A few changes at year end. obviously BBB retires, Hunter cannot have his contract extended, Schache will be delisted AND Tim Lamb and the footy department to explain why McAdam was given a 3-year contract !!! FFS
-
Disappointed he was not available at later pick. He went earlier than most had expected but Bergman improved during the draft year to end up in 1st round. Happy with Jackson and Kozzzy of course as well as Riv. Disappointing we didn’t get Anderson. Disappointed we didn’t get Serong. You cannot have all the cars in the showroom. It was a strong year which has been shown out.
-
Bergman has elite disposal efficiency. Elite marks. Elite distance covered. Elite interceptions. Elite rebounder. Other stats aren’t indicative of a tall midsized defender.
-
Miles Bergman is a star. Was really disappointed we couldn’t get him in his draft year. Would definitely get a 5-6 year contract offer ready.
-
We will probably have at least one emergency not play !!
-
@WalkingCivilWar elite preparation?? I’ve seen more engaged blokes at our local footy club on a Tuesday night. Yeah it’s cool but … anyway thanks for the vids!
-
Waterman’s manager is doing the right thing. He’s put out the bait. Dees have probably bitten. Waterman is looking to cash in now on his good form. It’s up to the Eagles to stump up the cash to keep him. Presumably he’ll stay but it’s all like poker with some bluff and counter bluff moves.
-
Sorry yes need to be patient. I meant we might need someone who can cover for next year 2025 with Tmcd pending retirement and Tomlinson likely to be elsewhere. Adams imv wouldn’t be ready to cover May in 2025.

Welcome to Demonland: Ricky Mentha
spirit of norm smith replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
@ChaserJ yes a move into transition defence role seems to have been a good one. -
Dees are concerned that we have May (2-3 years left), Tmcd (pending retirement) and Tomlinson (surely he says he wants to go as he’s been given limited opportunities and gets dropped on a whim by Goody). Adams hasn’t developed and whilst we have to be patient, finding a young 21-22yo defender as backup would be handy in the next few years. I’d prefer Derksen who can play key forward or back, and might be available for a 4th round pick.

2024 TELSTRA AFL DRAFT COMBINE
spirit of norm smith replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I’m amazed that some of these State Combine players weren’t in the National combine list of 65. Especially Zak Johnson and Kade Herbert, who are strong ball winners with good skills and are mids who kick goals. I’d rate them in the 30-35 range. FIRST INTAKE 2024 STATE COMBINE LIST Zane Cochrane (Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Metro) ⭐️ 50-55 Sam Davidson (Richmond VFL/Vic Metro)⭐️ 45-50 Lucca Grego (Western Jets/Vic Metro)⭐️50-56 Kade Herbert (Woodville-West Torrens/SA)⭐️30-35 Damon Hollow (Calder Cannons/Vic Metro)⭐️35-40 Zak Johnson (Northern Knights/Vic Metro)⭐️30-35 Nash King (Calder Cannons/Vic Metro)⭐️35-40 Ricky Mentha (Gippsland Power/NT)⭐️ Mentha is an interesting one. I think the Dees would like him as a NGA cat B rookie. Definitely has talent. I think he’s shown good form since moves to half back to create and use his skills similar to a Shaun Burgoyne type half back. Also thought Patrick Retschko⭐️ and Bailey Mckenzie⭐️ would be there, at least on state combine listing. Retschko. Strong mid/wing who resembles Trac in style and disposal. Had some excellent games this year even against top 10 mids. McKenzie. Super talented forward who can dominate defenders with his marking and goalkicking. -
Prediction… Waterman will stay at Eagles Allen will stay at Eagles Houston will stay at Port There’s a lot of player managers who put out this type of information and the media laps it up !!! it’s to get a better deal for their players.

COACHES VOTES: Round 20
spirit of norm smith replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Again the point. We lost by 2 points. A whisker. It could have gone either way. Yet only one MFC player Oliver got 1 vote (of the 30 votes available). Goodwin thought the Giants had the best 4 players , which is arguable, and Clarry got 1 conciliatory vote. Maybe it was the medication!!! Kingsley presumably gave all his votes to his players. The 4 blokes in yellow/lime also did well for the Giants, in the last qtr especially. -
Part 9: Jason Taylor - Visionary or Over-rated - 2021
spirit of norm smith replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
Drafting 10/10. JT. 👏👏👏 This was exactly what the Demonlanders wanted. JVR. HOWES. WOEY JNR. + AMW. 👏👏👏 Bonus was JT picking McVee in the rookie draft. 👏👏👏
