Wardius is a classy left foot goalkicker, cat B rookie. 181 cm good build , strong mark. Had 22 disposals, 12 marks, 2 tackles and 8 goals in last game v Sandy zebras. Would replace the Fritsch/Melksham type role.

Small forwards. Jesse Motlop 3 goals. 9 tackles. Will White (a young SSP last minute addition ) 3 goals. 5 tackles. Both applied pressure and showed goal sense. When they were within forward 30, they went for goal. Their tackling pressure created goals. Papley. Cameron. Hill. Stengle. Keays. Curtis. Moore. Higgins. Rankine. Zurhaar. Watson. Rioli. Etc etc. Small forwards for many teams are aggressive keen goal kickers. Yes we have kozzzy but now seem to want to put him into the midfield to create energy and run … “rob Peter to pay Paul is the saying”!! Apart from Kozzzy, Chandler and Spargo are well below other small forwards in the league. Chandler has had one good game and has been average in others. Spargo offers 5 minutes with one or two cameo efforts but can’t jump, has no pace, no tackling and doesn’t score goals (must delist at year end). Aside from needing to find a key tall forward, the search for an energetic quick small forward should be on our recruiting menu.

Actually I wouldn’t have minded if they gave Sestan a game this week - omit Melksham. Sestan needs to be given a chance. Actually I wouldn’t have minded if they gave Kynan Brown a game this week - omit Spargo. (Spargo had 1 tackle and 4 missed tackles last week ). Kynan Brown knows how to tackle and needs to be given a chance. Both or either of these changes would have been okay by me

Have to clarify the Tim Lamb performance on trades (Jason Taylor does the drafting). Pre Tim Lamb. Hibbo. Melksham. May. Lever. Langdon. Brown. 5 things to work on to achieve success Man up. The zone does not work. The zone does not work. We guard grass. Other teams sit back and then pick it apart. Also allowing teams to play 1-2 behind the ball in our forward line is sporting suicide. Do not continue. Forward 50 entries. Forget the soccer ball [censored]. Work transition drills until the lights have to go out. Work and work. Lower your eyes. Kick to space even. Make forwards work. And crumbing and forward tackling must improve to kick it in. Tackling. How bad? Slipped tackles. Missed tackles. Trac. Spargo. Windsor. Clarry. Perhaps are the worst offenders. Opposition get the ball clear and push past all together. Lock it in. Lock arms. It’s been poor for a while. Horrendous now. Transitions. Be brave. Use the corridor. Overlap running (but not overhandballing). Simple but effective is to demand the footy. Standing still doesn’t work. Waving arms next to your opponent doesn’t work. Clearances. Better v bombers but often the Dees are all bees to a honeypot. 3 in. Not one player available to spread. Kane Cornes described the Dees as “UNWATCHABLE”. Have to agree. Scoring is the key and it’s been a problem for the Dees for 3 years !!! It’s so frustrating to watch us and get angry, sad, disappointed, frustrated, angry , sad, disappointed, frustrated … and despondent. We had 5 minutes of Hope which was quickly killed and incinerated in the last qtr.

He’s a good youngster with footy smarts. Definitely be top 15-20 pick. But unless we trade in, our first pick is likely to be around 25-30.
