Believe so but given its year 1, should be rare

The Ultimate AFL 2018 Draft Resource

Outstanding. A very comprehensive guide. -
Still think #23 is between O’Halloran, Williams, McHenry, Ely Smith and maybe a rising Luke Foley.
-
Ease up. Clarry is a star. His footy does the “talking”
-
I think Twomey has got a very very good insight once again. Crows and Eagles next picks. Leaves us with choices around pick #23 Bailey Williams Xavier O’halloran Ed McHenry Ely Smith Then probably look at these guys with pick #28 Tom Mckenzie Fraser Turner Jacob Kennerley Riley Bowman (if we don’t get Bailey Williams).
-
Agree. That’s why I rate Xavier O’halloran so highly.
-
Agree. We can teach him to speak. Footy talent is shown.
-
Always liked the Buggler. Great bloke but his disposal frustrated everyone including himself.
-
Bedford is exactly the type of youngster to develop. Dees will grab him. It’s just which pick and what we have to give up.
-
He should be around picks (excl nga/father sons) 17-25. Interesting to see what Dees do if he is available. I think we will call him out if he’s available.

Kangaroos logo- how do we remove that??

2018 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Valente is the same speed as Salem, Brayshaw & Harmes. Not a jet but not slow. Definitely top 20 rated for me. His efficiency in disposal does remind me of Salem. -
I’m sticking to these for a good draft. Though Duursma is pushing up the draft to top 15-18.

2018 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Chayce Jones at 10 (too low), Luke Valente at 28 (too high) and Ely Smith at 31 (way too high) were surprising. Bedford at 34 would be too early for a nomination. He’s fast and skilled but needs 2+ years development. -
Delisted free agents apparently can be signed anytime virtually in November. It’s right up until about 29th November.

Delisting, Trade and FA discussion 2018

I like it. With this years pick 19, MFC have a better chance at Bailey Williams or Liam Stocker. -
Again mentioned as likely draftee. AFL website article lists Lockhart and Corey Wagner. Both has excellent year at Casey.

Draftees from outside the AFL system
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
AFL website journalist Ben Guthrie has produced his listing on players within SANFL, VFL, NEAFL and WAFL that could be drafted. Noted Demons could be interested in Hayden McLean, 19 yo from Sandringham VFL and previously Sandringham Dragons U18s. Definitely one to consider if we miss out on drafting in Bailey Williams. McLean was unlucky not to get drafted in 2017. Forward ruckman who provides ruck relief. Could be a very handy backup for Weid/Tmcd. I think Dees offer him a good chance to develop in AFL environment and maybe a few games in 2019. -
Lockhart is probably pick 85-90 or rookie selection.

Delisting, Trade and FA discussion 2018
spirit of norm smith replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
It’s does appear to be all clubs shifting to the notion of loading up in the super draft -
Fair question. Need to ask every year about bringing Andrew Brayshaw back to Victoria. But the Brayshaw family also has strong family ties in WA so need to prioritise keeping Angus Brayshaw.

Who will step up in 2019
spirit of norm smith replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree also with Kade Kolodjashnij. Potential to be a very very good addition. -
AFL website nominates players to watch in 2019. Sam Weideman is rightly the one to have to stand up. He will be given the role and has to grab the opportunity. I think he will. Others noted are Joel Smith and Jayden Hunt both of whom need a good run free of injury. Oskar Baker and Harrison Petty are the youngsters named. I think others really are - Billy Stretch. Showed his ability to provide run and delivery but toe injury killed the 2nd half of 2018. He has a wing position there to take. - Christian Petracca. Yes the Trac can still get better and better. He must impact for longer and assert himself. Looking for A grade in 2019. - Jeff Garlett. Jeffy can be the one to make a difference and take us to the top. There will be the chances if he has the renewed will and desire. Talent is unquestionable. - James Harmes. Proved himself in the 2nd half of the season. A full year at that standard would be sensational. From the injury front, Viney and Vandenburg should be hopefully ready to have full seasons. Of course, we should Jake Lever back, if not for Round 1 then by rounds 3-4 onwards. Gawn, Oliver, Brayshaw, Tmcd, Jetta, Melksham all had great years and hope they keep fit and maintain the standard. There is still plenty of upside in many others. #1 in 2019.
