2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
26 in the academy. 5 of them are under team academy. Then 3 father sons. That leaves 18/26 as “available”. Harvey Langford was very good this year for Stingrays. Strong taller mid with good left foot disposal. Not overawed in the contest even as an underager this year.

Phantom Drafts 2023
It’s likely to be traded out for a future 2024 2nd or 3rd round. I’d be speaking with the Power. They’d like a draft pick around this late second round. A future 2nd rd pick off them is reasonable. (Read somewhere that Dees might try to use “42” to get us a future 3rd off from Saints / around pick 50-52 in next years draft after academy and fathers sons. Thats a bad deal).

Ashton Moir
Will be this years wildcard pick. Could prove to be the best player in this draft alongside Reid … or lose his desire and be delisted after 2 years.

Phantom Drafts 2023
Assume Reid, (Walter), Mckercher and Duursma are gone, where available my preference is At pick 6 (7). Preference remains Curtin, Sanders, Windsor, Leake, O’Sullivan and Watson At pick 11 (13/14). Preference remains O’Sullivan, Windsor, Wilson, Tholstrup and Murphy Curtin does seem like a future star who could play CHB or in midfield. It’s hard to say where he is best but he could be described as an all rounder. Reminds me of the Bont in his draft year. https://www.afl.com.au/news/117000/26-days-to-the-draft-meet-gun-prospect-marcus-bontempelli

Phantom Drafts 2023
Cal echoes others. No surprises 7. Caleb Windsor POS: Midfielder Ht 185cm, Wt 74kg, DOB 9/6/05 From Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro The winger with all the right stuff. If things go a certain way, Windsor comes into contention for the Demons' first pick. The elite runner and midfielder has real pop to his game – and it's the upside that is exciting for recruiters as well. He has speed – he ran 2.92 seconds in the 20-metre sprint – and can shift forward and hit the scoreboard from the wing. Has weapons with his run and carry and an elite pace and endurance mix that brings him into contention early. If not him? The Demons have been in the thick of the action. If Nick Watson gets this far, he is favourite to be picked. Zane Duursma would also be snapped up. Under this scenario the question would be on the Dees grabbing Dan Curtin or letting him pass and also what the Dees would do if West Coast offered their future first-round pick? It seems more likely they will hold their own pick, but they have continued attempts to get up the board, including to Hawthorn's No.4 pick using a future first-round selection. 13. Koltyn Tholstrup POS: Forward/midfielder Ht 186cm, Wt 86kg, DOB 28/6/05 From Subiaco/Western Australia The Demons have shown recent interest in Tholstrup among a number of clubs to do late interviews with the powerful forward. His explosive streak in the front half adds some presence and in the future he will likely go through the midfield more as well. Tholstrup played most of the season with Subiaco's senior side so is ready for the step up at that level and he is prepared for a move away from Western Australia. Tholstrup was invited to attend draft night, showing the early interest in him, but he has chosen to watch from Perth with more family and friends. If not him? The Demons have been active in trying to push up the order so may still move position. Caleb Windsor is a chance to get through to this pick in an alternate draft order, while Connor O'Sullivan and Nate Caddy would also be looked at very closely if they managed to sneak through.

Ryley Sanders
Have to keep Sanders in our mindset. Elite skills. Elite runner. Loves a goal. Has future star stamped on him. I’d be grabbing him if available Imv he plays like Jason Horne-Francis AFL Website bio Another top prospect who sat out the Combine, Sanders did not test due to a hip issue. It will have no impact on his draft placing, having shown throughout the whole year his incredible consistency and production as a midfielder in the group. Sanders capped his season with 25 disposals and four clearances in Sandringham's Grand Final win over the Eastern Ranges, when he had some key moments as he always does. Sanders averaged 31 disposals at that level to go with his Larke Medal in the under-18 carnival in a complete campaign.

Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
Caleb Windsor has excellent skills, pace and decision making to be a quality AFL midfielder. Loves a goal. And can chase down tackle which gives him that added bonus as a running mid. Plays like Max Holmes. AFL Website profile Windsor had already been creeping up draft boards but he solidified his place as a potential pick right around the top 10 with his starring performances at the Draft Combine. The Eastern Ranges' runner came third in the 20-metre sprint (2.916 seconds) and placed in the top 10 for the standing vertical jump (73cm) and running vertical jump (92cm) events as well, showing his mix of athleticism and pure speed. The polished goalkicking midfielder also ran 6:35 minutes in the 2km time trial.

Phantom Drafts 2023
Yes on phantom drafts above Darcy Wilson would be the “13th live pick” given the amount of father son and academy picks being in the first round. I’d prefer Wilson ahead of Tholstrup as he’s more likely as a hard running goalkicking mid with elite kicking skills. Tholstrup is a good youngster and might be move into senior footy quicker but I think Wilson offers more in the long term. And Tholstrup comes with a potential go home factor as well.

Welcome to Demonland Koltyn Tholstrup
From my view during the championship, Tholstrup is energetic and determined footballer, eager at the contest. Loves a goal. Good aggression. Skilled player. Doesn’t accumulate a lot of the footy. Suited to a goalkicking half forward role. Imv he plays like Cam Rayner or Cam Zuhaar. Would be worthy of the Dees pick 13/14 AFL website profile Recruiters were impressed by Tholstrup's season, particularly his commitment to his role at senior level for Subiaco in their forward line. The forward/midfielder enjoyed a strong carnival for Western Australia and plays with some physicality and strength. He matched it with senior opposition through the season and will do the same early in his AFL career.

Phantom Drafts 2023
Yes that’s a massive call to give up a future first to push up 3 spots. Its a NO from me … but Dees always seem to be super aggressive.
