Dynasty. What is this media rubbish? We won the 2021 premiership. 🏆🏆🏆😊😊😊☀️☀️☀️ that was sensational amazing unbelievable But the presume or assume that we will just roll up and win more. It takes hard work and dedication and good fortune to win premierships. Let’s just concentrate on next week. Remove hubris … it’s very dangerous

Unsubscribe this week Probably only Viney deserves any votes. Oliver after 1/4 time and Petty 3rd quarter. Many many were very disappointing. Half hearted effort. Outcoached and outmuscled.
-
Lazy effort v eagles last week. Poor attitude and no desire this week. Outmuscled and Outcoached. That’s the headline.
-
3rd. 2 behinds outmuscled. More physical. dees showing physical weakness. Clearly outrun. Too many jogging Man on man pressure finding out some passengers embarrassing half efforts - Bowey !!! Melksham snap 45 metres - wow. He can kick a drop punt. again (Dunstall) Petty Langdon Hunter 😊and nil Bombers up 5 goals now flood back !! Smart Scott clearly out coaching Goodwin
-
🤮🤮🤮🤮poor. 2nd qtr Petty. Trac. Clarry. Riv. May. Grundy (defensive work). Spargo. Sparrow. Not working hard enough defensively. Tomlinson deliberately out of bounds - dumb !!!!! pressure nil - parish 20 touches (Goodwin??tag ??????? Anyone ?? ) coaches preparedness for bombers double rucks !! 🤮 umps !!! Head high and holding the ball ???? Turnovers !! And hospital handballs- Grundy x3, JV, Trac Wtf !!! Gus. Maybe JV. 👍🏻And … ??
-
Spargo to take the week off then back to Casey. Was not contributing anything and defensively poor when bombers backs were running. Wants to easy ball. His leads to the pocket are fruitless.
-
Spargo off. Jordon on. It works for us !!! Spargo been a passenger anyway. Had 5 options and then knocked himself out.
-
Arrogance. From Goodwin and Grundy to 15 others. Not working hard enough. Not going in.
-
And Shiel gets caught, drops it - play on 🤬🤬🤬

MELBOURNE Strength: Points from turnovers (68 per game) – 1st It’s the most common way for AFL teams to score, and the Demons are doing it better than any side right now. This would be all the more encouraging given Melbourne’s ball movement inside 50 and general forward function fell apart in the second half of last season. But Simon Goodwin’s side, which has been boosted by the addition of winger Lachie Hunter, is currently the gold standard for converting goals in transition by craftily changing angles and playing with more flare. Big improvement in this area may be the No.1 reason the Demons can win the flag.
-
Question mark: Clearances differential (-6.8) – 18th This might be the most surprising stat of the lot for a team so recognised for its star-studded midfield. Although it could be partly of the club’s own doing. While Clayton Oliver is probably the best inside mid in the game and continues to get heavy usage in the role, Goodwin has made an emphasis to expand his on-ball rotation this season. Oliver, Christian Petracca and Jack Viney are still the Dees’ main three on-ballers, but the likes of Tom Sparrow, Kysaiah Pickett, James Harmes and James Jordon have gotten more midfield opportunities. And although Brodie Grundy has done a great job filling the No. 1 ruck role in Max Gawn’s absence, the Demons skipper was the best clearance ruckman in the game last year by some margin.

Jake Lever - Ankle | Out. TBC 1 week Michael Hibberd - Achilles | managed 1 week Max Gawn - Knee | 1 - 2 Weeks Joel Smith - Thumb | 1 - 2 Weeks Kye Turner - Groin | 1 - 2 Weeks Christian Salem - Knee | 3 - 5 Weeks Will Verrall - Pelvis | 8 - 9 Weeks
-
Loss of Munro and Buntine (and White still out). Very young Casey group. Jordon probably will be sub so expect Baldi to play.

Are we too tall ? May Petty Tomlinson TMCD BBB JVR
-
Yes. Anger never subsides. Seeing Hardwick holding Brad Green's arms from behind whilst allowing the thug Wallis to punch Green in the throat. Disgraceful. Together with Long’s dog act on Simmonds, two of the lowest acts seen in a GF.
-
1- Bombers will rely on quicker ball movements into agile forward line. Stringer, Langford and Jones move around and are not the standard big target forwards. Stringer will run through mid and forward zones. Dees will want to see how May, Tomlinson and Petty work across this. It’s a shame Daniel Turner didn’t have a few more games under his belt and put his hand up this week. 2- Merrett Shiel Parish Caldwell. Dees should control more of the midfield and need to win the contested footy. This should be our advantage. Unleash JV again in BEAST mode. 3- Assume Draper and Phillips to physically go at Grundy to wear him down. Tmcd could be used to support. This could be a weakness as exposed by the Lions. 4- our tall forwards JVR TMCD BBB would be taller but matched by Bombers defence. If we go slow, we will beat ourselves. Where we might hold a key is through Pickett and Chandler. Assume Mcgrath might go to Pickett. If Kozzzzys on, he might be the match winner. 5- I hate the Scott brothers. Their arrogance is unbelievable and it’d be nice to get the win over Brad Scott. Even when he was at the Kangas, he didn’t rate us.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I’d be keen to keep pick 8 ( Freo to finish 11th🤣🤣) and pick 18 ( Dees to win the premiership 🏆🏆). Two young midfielders to be added to our group with foresight of list management in years ahead. We seem very well covered in other areas. Will Lorenz, Cooper Simpson and Darcy Wilson would be likely types in the Dees mindset come November. -
I watched the replay and we won by 68 points. Fritsch kicked the goal after the siren. Not sure why this hadn’t been raised in the media. Oh yes, we’re not the Pies of the Blues 🤣🤣🤣
-
Special mention to Paddy Cross. Looks like another good young addition.
-
Bailey Laurie. Definitely will be an AFL footballer but behind too many at the Dees. Starring at VFL. Tom Sheridan. Get the boy a pen. Love his style. He’s another great find and reminds me of when we discovered Fritsch. Blake Howes. If he lifted his intensity, he’ll get a game in the next 3-4 weeks. He’s ready. AMW. Get him signed up. Jefferson. Build him up and watch the JVR/Jefferson combo in years to come. * actually liked Trent Mynott from the Dolphins. I’d invite him to pre season and see how he goes. I think he could be a very solid AFL player.
-
Agreed. Was looking lost in attack and comfortable in defence.
