  1. It does pose a question of how good the list actually is my take on it is Elite players in their positions Clayton Oliver Max Gawn Steven May Jake Lever Tom McDonald Very good players - Would likely be 22 at most other clubs Christian Petracca Christian Salem Angus Brayshaw Jack Viney James Harmes Nev Jetta Nathan Jones Bailey Fristsch (Forward) Sam Frost (Raw but really talented) Michael Hibberd Jake Melksham Jayden Hunt Marty Hore While all the rest are probably fringe players. some are probably a bit stiff but trying to keep it realistic. So that leaves us with 5 genuine A grade players, two of whom have been injured for big parts of the year, and one who's been horrifically out of form and now injured. 60% of your top 5 players basically not being there significantly hurts any side. imagine the Eagles missing Gaff, Shuey and McGovern for significant portions of the year. and for good players you've got 13 - most have played a good chunk of the year, but there is a clear balance issue between inside and outside. outside of Frost and Hunt, none have real leg speed, only Salem and Melksham i'd say would be considered elite field kicks. 18 very good or above players shows the list is there to play finals. but we do need to balance it out better than it is now with positional changes, maximising strengths and being brave at the trade table my opinion is you can only carry one ball hunting inside midfielder these days, the rest have to offer something on the outside I think we lack genuine pressure forwards, forward structure, quality leading patterns and leadership to set up the forward line correctly. i think our midfield balance is exposed badly when all our mids first instinct is to go in and get the ball and they get sucked to the honey pot and if we don't win it, we get torched on the outside and even if we do we don''t have the class or the quality to get full value for it. down back we look solid but our lack of outside speed too often puts our defenders in the unwinnable position
  2. I think 99% of the time when they say clubs x,y and z are chasing it's either already common knowledge or they're just guessing. I'd guarantee that there would be 10 clubs keen on tippa minimum if he was actually gettable. which i don't think he is. i think he's leveraging outside interest to get a better deal at the dons. I thought Coniglio was doing the same but he seems to be on the way out
  3. They handed over a profitable football club with a finals ready list. they 100% did their job. and i think we should all be extremely grateful because people so easily forget how bad things were under Mark Neeld.
  4. pick 21 or whatever it is for Langdon and their third round pick. something like that. or upgrade our 4th to their third. I'd be going all out to get Brad Hill as well. the dream result would be to sign Hill, Langdon and keep 2 to use on Anderson.
  5. Not sure on Day. if i were in charge i'd move Viney forward, chase Dan Butler and go with Melksham Weideman Fritsch Viney Mcdonald Petracca and have Butler rotate through to provide extra pressure
  6. yep. see if we can snag Brads brother as a free agent, bring in Sam Gray and Dan Butler to provide some pressure and tackling up forward and have a sniff around for a KPF
  7. I personally don't like Langdon as a player and i wouldn't be giving up anything significant for him. he runs all day sure, but he's not a very good kick at all, makes average decisions and while he'd probably fit in, i don't see him being a regular in the best 22 or contributing in any meaningful way to improving this side to the point it can challenge for a flag. Brad Hill on the other hand... Speed, class, skills
  8. 100% if we don't improve significantly next season they have to pull the trigger on Goodwin in my opinion. i think there are some mitigating factors this season, if they're no longer relevant and results don't turn he should be moved on. I really think in the understandable pursuit of stability we've probably become a little stale, i'd personally like to see a significant clean out of assistants, particularly. Forwards, Midfield/stoppage if Brett Ratten misses out on a senior gig i'd be going all out to get him as our senior assistant/midfield coach. and as far as forwards, Stevie Johnson is extremely highly rated, understands leading patterns etc, i think he fits the bill.
  9. Hopefully all the way to our second round pick. for me we hit the trade period with a list of 5 2x outside runners with good skills and speed. 2x pressure forwards 1x Key forward, ideally ready to go. I think we are likely to land Ed Langdon by the sounds of things, so that's one elite runner, but probably skills/decision making his weakness. i'd personally be sniffing around Dan Butler, Sam Gray If Brad Hill is gettable we simply have to go hard.
  10. He showed on the weekend that his footy smarts somewhat cover his lack of speed, could easily have kicked a bag if he summed up the conditions a little better. last 5 games if he can kick 10 goals in that time, average a couple a game and help the forward set up i'd personally give him 1 more year. he's not going to apply pressure so he has to kick goals.
  11. I would certainly look at getting someone like Nick Reiwoldt in to help the forwards with leading patterns etc even in a part time capacity, we can get the ball in there but anything that gives us better looks is worth considering. Blake Caracella is talked about glowingly by everyone he deals with though i suspect he could be in the mix for one of the senior vacancies.
  12. I think we have a very good list and one most opposition teams would jump at given the opportunity but i am much more concerned with the coaching/gameplan side of things 1. all of the top teams have moved the ball a lot more conservatively and relied on forward speed and pressure. we move the ball too quickly, can't apply enough pressure when we get it in there. 2. i don't think our forward set up or midfield set up work well. too many players get sucked in and really they just have to break even to win the ball and get it in space. and the forwards have no idea how to make space for each other. i think we desperately need to find a key forward, 2 pressure forwards and 2 outside midfielders with speed and elite skills if we end up with pick 2 i'd seriously entertain the idea of sending it to the Dockers for Langdon, Hill and some sort of other combination of assets. couple of elite outside players would seriously add to the side.
  13. If i'm in charge i'm putting a decent deal in front of Jade Gresham and Josh Kelly, i suspect Kelly to Norf is basically a done deal, but no reason we can't get in his ear, in fact i'm sure we already are. I don't think we have any reason to fear players leaving if we want them to stay given the state of our list and where i think we should go in 2019.

Surely he’s worth it as a delisted free agent...

Probably too similar to a lot of our other players to be legitimately interested in my view.
  16. Yep. The other thing is centre clearances just went up massively in terms of value due to the new rule changes. An area we dominate at and the hawks struggle.
  17. Can kick a long goal
  18. My personal ratings would be Lukosius a bit lower, he’s definitely talented but I just don’t think he’s a genuine power forward. Plays a bit too much like jack watts and maybe I’m a bit scarred Izak Rankine I have on par with Walsh as the best players in the draft. He was seriously damaging. bailey smith is interesting because he could easily play half back or mid, I think he’s got potential to be the best player in the draft if he gets the balance right. Ive mentioned elsewhere I think Jye Caldwell has the talent to be a top 6 pick but the types of injuries he’s getting so early is a real concern... he’s an outside chance to slip through to our 23 though unlikely. The king brothers are interesting because I think the only way an interstate team drafts them is if they can get both. Phantom top 5. 1. Sam Walsh 2. Max king 3. Ben king 4. Bailey smith 5. Jack Lukosius Can see a couple of the SA boys sliding a bit. I reckon the Gold Coast would be a better chance of retaining the king brothers than the SA boys.
  19. Especially for a guy universally known to be a highly efficient user of the ball. That’s where hunt let’s himself down in comparison.
  20. 1. Richmond 2. West coast 3. Melbourne 4. Collingwood 5. Essendon 6. Adelaide 7. North Melbourne 8. Hawthorn 9. Sydney 10. Geelong 11. GWS 12. North 13. Fremantle 14 bulldogs 15. Brisbane 16. Carlton 17 st. Kilda 18. Gold Coast suns
  21. I don’t mind pruess being used up forward simply because I can’t see him being out marked. Bring it to ground and let the smalls go to work.
  22. B: Lever. May. Jetta hb: Salem. Frost. Hibberd. c. Harmes. Viney. Kolodjashnij hf. Petracca. Weideman. Vandenberg f. Hannan. McDonald. melksham fol. Gawn. Oliver. Brayshaw. I/c. Jones, fritsch. Lewis. Neal-bullen
  23. I vaguely remember roosu saying something similar in his meeting with goody, it was mostly about culture and so on rather than just football. I think we are onto a winner with goody
  24. I actually think jye Caldwell is a chance to slide. Very talented kid but injury concerns at a young age may put some doubts in recruiters minds for the first round
  25. It basically makes kade a free hit the way the trade played out. And this kid has absolute A grade talent and potential. I think a bit like Gus his confidence putting his head over it has taken a hit due to concussions but they’ll be able to support each other and I’m super confident it’ll be a bargain pick up for us.
