  1. Financially we can afford both, the evidence for that is the offer we made to GAFF the reality is that we can’t trade our 2019 pick unless we replace it and even then we’d need to include a quality player to be any chance without hogan leaving.
  2. Tom Browne reporting freos priority is lobb not hogan. I personally think this is garbage they’ve been chasing Jesse for years and just did a four hour facility tour with him where they no doubt discussed his gaff sized offer. Id suggest someone from freo has leaked this to him to try and panic Melbourne into lowering the asking price rather than missing out on May. Sadly for freo the only person who hasn’t seen through it is Tom.
  3. Has been offered a 4 year deal and promised game time apparently.... not sure what we are up to with that.
  4. No, and Jesse and his management have said they’re not interested in discussing one at this stage.
  5. I wonder if our attitude would be similar to Steven may. If you wanna stay that’s fine but you have to sign on long term, if not let’s move you home now.
  6. I’m not too sure, you’d think hogan would be their priority and they will play hard ball to try and retain a top 10 pick to land both which is why the trade with port would appeal. If they could say get hogan for 6&9 and trade 10 for lobb i hope and think they will still demand 5&6 hogan is probably the best young forward talent in the game and will be a superstar for a long time, I don’t think we should wriggle even a little on that asking price because not only is it fair, freo will buckle. They can’t afford not to sign hogan. They need something to convince members not to jump ship. my Ideal outcome would be using those picks on Steven may and bailey smith
  7. 5 for Polec and pick 9 from port red (on the assumption they held pick 9 at this stage)
  8. There is no way in the world freo made there offer to hogan without knowing they would have to cough up two top end draft picks to get him. They probably didn’t expect Lobb to be on the market as well #5 &#6 for Jesse hogan or F off freo he’s contracted so pay up. #6 grabs Steven may who fills a significant hole for us. #5 is the really important one. I’m sure we are sniffing around for an established outside mid. Could we get in on the Polec chase at the last minute and offer #5 for Polec & #9 considering they were ready to accept #11 for him alone. i also love bailey smith as a player and have no objection to going to the draft and bringing him in to further build our already handy talent pool.
  9. Very likely. It’s a bit like Gus Brayshaw last year, kolo has some exposed quality at AFL level but health and injuries have stalled his career. I believe any pick past 30 is a bit of a punt and 34 for a player with his upside is one I’m comfortable with.
  10. have been told trade for our second round pick is basically locked in. Will be done pretty quickly. The first round pick suggestion is a joke. They’re pushing him out the door, and I’m really not sure why.

was told by a drunken port supporter we were keen on chad Wingard.... god I hope his drunken ramblings were just drunken ramblings
  12. We should just set up an automatic voice mail for when the dockers call “5&6 or F off, no negotiation”
  13. Also their horrifically outdated game plan and Ross consistently picking underperforming veterans and wondering why their younger players aren’t developing. I don’t see them playing finals for minimum another 3 seasons even with hogan.
  14. The silly thing about that is May will be 28. He’s not going to get offered a 5 year deal. He would maybe get a 4 year front loaded on pretty good coin which wouldn’t usually guarantee top compo but it is the AFL so they’d get that if it were a 1 year deal

It does pose an interesting question about Nathan Jones role in 2019, I think the obvious reason Tyson has been pushed out is that he can’t really play any other position to AFL standard
  16. What a load of garbage. They wouldn’t bother giving Jesse a tour of Fremantle if Melbourne hadn’t given them the all clear. The reality is we can just say no deal and walk away at any stage.
  17. The bloke who designated himself list manager for the trade period. This is like Eddie being In charge of Collingwood for the trade period. It’s an absolute joke. If he stuffs up the hogan signing he should also hand in his resignation
  18. Would be a disasterous result for a contracted player of Hogan’s talent. I have faith the quality people we have won’t allow that to happen.
  19. Will be pointed to in negotiations over hogan. 4&5 or F off dockers
  20. Sam McClure just said it matters more how freo value hogan than ya in terms of a trade... no sam, if I want to buy your car I also don’t get to set the value. Jesse is contracted and we are entitled to set the price required to Break it
  21. Maybe not but it’s not unreasonable to think Jesse might like to see us looked after which Fremantle are in a better position to do than the eagles

Yeah I don’t blame him, he has his family, girlfriend, uni and all of his future basically lined up in Melbourne. And I suspect he will get interest from a Melbourne based side as well. Potentially we see him as part of the kolo deal that allows us to hang onto that pick 33

Stkilda - hey dean would you like a 3 year deal on decent coin and to be part of our regular best 22 also stkilda - sorry dees he’s only worth pick 75. Not how it works saints. We want a pick around 40 for him
  24. Does one of Oscar or frost potentially play forward if Tom goes down? Perhaps we have our eyes on someone.
  25. I suspect the outcome would be may, Kolodjashnij and a presence in ideally the top 10 of the draft. If we don’t get a high quality key position player in where hogan goes out it’s a bad result. I personally don’t mind the idea of a deal like 9,10 and Pearce from the dockers instead of that higher pick. If we could replace frost and Oscar with May and Pearce I think we go into 2019 with no obvious weakness
