Do we want to play him as a forward? i don't get it.
-
100% if we could get him and Betts for a decent price i reckon that'd be a good result.
-
If Jacks sir name wasn't Viney would be be in trade discussions? he's one dimensional, injury prone and we have too many of that type of player. he'd have currency on the trade table.
-
100% i would. i genuinely believe a lot of his issues this year have had more to do with the crows setup than him, if we could nab him cheaply i'd 100% go for it.
-
I'm really not sure who we should look at, it's a tricky one. someone like Peter Wright from the Suns would be great if we could convince him to leave.
-
He might as well already be wearing brown and gold mate, we are zero chance.
-
I reckon behind those two Steven May is the third best leader at the club. Jordan Lewis 4th. and then the current co captains 5 & 6 arguably. bit of a sad state really isn't it when your best leaders aren't in formal positions.
-
still not established at AFL level, if we get an injury we really don't have much back up
-
I think we need to have a good look for a second key forward to take the pressure off McDonald. and i don't think it's a big fish option. what creative lesser name options could we consider?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Ted Lasso replied to Tinks's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm sure i'm in the minority here but i'd be considering him on an absolute basement contract one year. just because if he does get himself fit he's super talented. -
One thing that's been touched on is the fact a lot of pre season, but that combined with the game style and being unable to convert inside 50's What it means is some already underdone players struggle to run out games as well as their opponents the game plan is not tweaked in any way to accomodate this. and the inability to convert inside 50's into goals means they don't get any breathers and put in a huge amount of effort trying to move the ball in quickly and getting no reward, it would be incredibly draining phyisically and mentally to feel like they've dominated games and been beaten comfortably.

If not goodwin, who? is the biog question that i think needs to be asked. I don't like him as a bloke but Ross Lyon is gettable, his game style suits our list, he has a fantastic coaching record including grand final appearances with two clubs. maybe rebuilding isn't his thing but i reckon he'd get us back up the pointy end in 2020

Roosy: "Deplorable" Dees have "no recognisable brand"
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree, last year we had two key forwards marking everything in the finals, so we could kick long with a degree of confidence. now the club is acutely aware of the critisism of it's efficiency inside 50 and is toying with the way it's kicking the ball in, and it's causing quite a lot of confusion. the game is much simpler when you know you can play on, run and kick long with confidence someone would be able to take a mark, we haven't had that for the majority of this year. -
The thing i think it's important to make sure he's aware of is, IF he signs on again, he is not a lock for the AFL side, that's taking nothing away from what he's done for the club but there is a reality that from here, he has to earn his spot.

Roosy: "Deplorable" Dees have "no recognisable brand"
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I honestly think we'd be more likely to sack Goodwin and just wear the payout on our soft cap than we are to re-appoint Roos alongside him. but i do agree the team around Goodwin needs a serious shakeup, and an injection of experience, and the game plan needs an overhaul. -
Hahah sorry Dazzle, worked very late last night haha. we can only trade it if we get a different one to use, though i think we can apply to the AFL for clearance to trade it.

Gold coast getting pick 2 would be an absolute joke. i would give them picks 11 and end of first round in addition to pick 1 which they have, access to state league players and a mini draft selection from the talent pool of 2020 that they can trade this year. that should give them a haul capable of improving even that joke of a list without compromising another draft in the name of a club that has since day 1 been a horrible idea

Pick 2 for Brad Hill?
-
i think an ideal/realistic 2020 line up would be B: Nev Jetta Steven May Jake Lever hb: Christian Salem Sam Frost Michael Hibberd c Brad Hill Clayton Oliver Issac Smith hf: Christian Petracca Tom McDonald Jake Melksham f: Joel Smith/Jayden Hunt Sam Weideman Bailey Fritsch Fol: Max Gawn Jack Viney Angus Brayshaw I/C: Aaron VandenBerg/Nathan Jones James Harmes Noah Anderson Ed Langdon

Hard to disagree with him. we are a neither here nor there as a footy club. i think a lot of it comes back to the quality and lack of on field leaders we have. and that hurts our ability to implement a game plan for 4 quarters. -
Not sure Coniglio is the type that we want. but i think we have too many of Gus type in the side, we know with his concussion issues he's maybe one bad hit away from being done, and he's got significant trade value. i personally think it's the kind of brave choice they should consider
-
Must keep pick 2 at all costs. i'd be offering our 2020 first round pick and our 2019 second round pick for Hill and Langdon, and a later pick or something like that. and bank on us not finishing down the bottom again. if we can add in Hill, Langdon and Anderson i think we are in a good spot, especially if we look at maybe a Dan Butler for some forward pressure and a key forward, even a short term solution to support Tommy
-
Would Angus Brayshaw be up for trade if the right offer came along lets say he netted us Brad Hill & Langdon somehow?
-
I honestly think if Jack Viney wasn't who he is, he'd be on the trade table, he's one dimensional, injury prone and probably still has decent trade currency. this may be unpopular, but i loved seeing May going off at frost a few weeks back, he's passionate, drives high standards, he's clearly already a leader of the club. i think on field leadership is super important these days, i think we're fine down back with May, Lever, Jetta we lack it desperately everywhere else though.
