  1. Some talk Brandon Matera may also look elsewhere, showed this year he was a dangerous small forward. i wonder if we could get him as well?
  2. Don't think there is much to this, he wanted more midfield time and was frustrated with how the team went this year like everyone. but sounds like they're on the same page with that now.

I would be offering $$ and pick 3 to get Ben King from the GCS
  4. Would wanna be a serious offer to even consider trading Angus Brayshaw.

Wouldn't go near him, this bloke is way too soft, can't play as a key forward.

This season will serve as the foot up the backside the entire club needs, players will come back in ripping condition. Steven May will come back in the best shape of his life and win All Australian Selection. the club will finish just outside the top 4 and win a final, but ultimately fall just short of really challenging.

He's a defender but he certainly has the attributes to play forward in my opinion. has a good set of hands, as Mach said he's coming into the right age bracket and we'd probably get him for a packet of smiths crinkle cut, so definitely worth considering.
  8. As far as i'm concerned the entire playing group should be on notice. everyone come back in peak condition, anyone who doesn't won't play the first 3 rounds and cops a fine. we have a number of players capable of having All Australian years. if Goody and his team can't motivate them to come back in great shape and turn this club around, we need to get someone in who can.

    where do i sign?

I'd say they'd want a second rounder but our pick 38 should get it done i would have thought.

He's actually had a very good year with the power this year so i'd 100% be asking the question. has some attributes as a player that would suit us. i think he'd come at a good price as well. i'd be all for it.

Yep, we asked for a couple of top 10 picks, they offered one, we tried to meet in the middle with a top 10 and an early second round... after that offer was made, Bell walked away, only to end up agreeing to that trade later on. the MFC came out and said at the time they were only asking for that first pick and 23 or whatever it was.

I'd say pick 20 will get the deal done for Langdon. what we've seen with Bell is he talks a big game but ultimately caves. he had a presser walking away from the Hogan trade, only to end up coughing up exactly what we were asking for to save face.
  14. Important to note he's spent most of this season averaging around 20 touches and a goal, high in goal assists and ranked in the top 5 general forwards in the comp most of this year. for a guy early ish in his career still i think it's a bit rough asking for more. it's literally only happening because he's not kicking bags but surely people would be happier with consistency?

Interesting thing is, if you're saying a player is worth 900k per season, hard to then turn around and say he's not worth 2 first rounders, especially when contracted. i really hope Freo milk this for all it's worth. two first rounders, or one and a very good player or no deal.

I don't see his personality working in the capacity of an assistant coach, but has apparently expressed interest in becoming a GM of football at some stage, so if Mahoney is changing his focus maybe that's something worth considering though i think we'd be better off going experienced there with Balme, Walsh etc

I know which one of those options i'd rather. May has looked very good when on the park and Lever has been down, but we know his best is very good. both with be fine. Burgess will have them fighting fit next season.

I suspect a big part of it is keeping fan interest high by fueling speculation, i'm sure the Dees talk to just as many players but make more of an effort to keep it quiet than other sides who are happy enough for it to get out.

Saints are screwing themselves. between Brad Hill and Dan Hannebry they'll have 1.7 mil per locked up. incredible

I agree, i think it's being put back on Mahoney and Goodwin though, get it right now, or changes will be made. i firmly believe we will also have an external review going on that will include Mahoneys position.
  21. Bit of talk around that we will try and downgrade our first rounder if it's pick 3 to two later first round picks. and potentially even move on the 2020 first rounder to try and get something else back in the first round. i quite like this because i don't think the club is really 100% sure themselves what's gone on this year and needs to plan a little each way, we might rise back up the ladder, but we also might not, so if we can get 3-4 first round draft picks and really boost that young core and keep building for the future as well as add say Ed Langdon i think we are in a good spot. I believe Jeremy Cameron is a free agent next year? and lots of talk of him coming back to Vic so may be worth popping pick 3 under the Giants nose and seeing if they're tempted to maximise their value.
  22. I agree, this is why i rate Mahoney at the trade table. he's happy to pay slight overs to get deals done early so they can focus on other things, and i believe that good will gets extended back to us at times because we're easy to deal with. Bell had overplayed his hand from the start though because the freo supporters thought they were finally landing Hogan, so if he stuffed it up he was done before he'd even really started.
  23. Peter Bell is a joke, last year coming out and publicly saying they were no longer pursuing Hogan because the Dees were asking too much only to recruit him a few days later for exactly what we were asking.
  24. still 100% believe this young list will do something very special, and we will bounce back hard next year so i will be a member again
  25. I just don't agree with compromising the top 10 of the draft for any reason at all. it flies right in the face of the equalisation policies. they should have been given pick 11 and pick 20. so they get 1, 11, 19,20 and then off field assistance and access to state league players without screwing over other clubs.
