  1. I think the best parts of Higgins won't fade with time, he's a beautiful kick, a good leader, and very smart. i'd feel much better with him on a wing than i do with Jones out there.
  2. Work ethic comes back 100% on the coaching team. if Goodwin can't motivate the players to behave like professional athletes then either the players go, or he does. we can't afford to waste another season.
  3. I don't mind the idea of trading the pick for the right deal. but only if there is confidence they know what's caused the fall this year and are absolutely sure next year won't be the same thing
  4. we really just need extra depth for a year or 2. i reckon Weid is going to come through really strongly in that time. it's why i don't mind the idea of Roughy one year transition into coaching. even if he hardly played he could teach Tom and Sam about forward craft
  5. I think the GC priority pick thing is happening. the last significant hurdle is the clubs where there will no doubt be strong opposition but when guys like Barrett and caro start saying it, the AFL is trying to slowly get the public to accept the fact this is happening.
  6. I don't mind giving him another year playing as a forward. i think his experience is huge for our group, and will be vital for us to push back up the ladder.
  7. to be honest i think the $$ side of things is where they have a big edge over us in this race.
  8. Nah nothing much else. we've left our run a bit late for Hill it seems but Langdon might be pretty close to over the line barring a big offer from another club.
  9. Hoping the people i'm speaking to are wrong, but i'm hearing the Saints and Hawks are ahead of us in the race for Hill. we are having to be pretty creative Salary cap wise to come up with a financial offer to get him and Langdon and it's looking like the club is prioirtising Langdon over Hill. and the Saints and Hawks have some money to splash.
  10. I'm still extremely bullish about 2020 and here is why. 1. our ladder position provides us with the opportunity to significantly improve our list. if we can add Langdon, Hill or ideally both, and somehow retain a later first round pick and only give up draft picks, i think our side already looks better and more balanced. 2. Our ladder position also provides us with what should be a significantly better draw than we had this year. 3. Our list is still quite young, another full pre season and some continuity and playing together should help team chemistry further develop. 4. the football department review should cause some new voices in the football program which has lead to some very positive results at other teams. 5. we have a good list, if we can get the game plan right, have a good run with injuries and secure an easier draw i think we put ourselves in a position to quickly build confidence and have a serious crack at top 4 in 2020.
  11. I see it the opposite, the MFC would have the opportunity to move on from sentiment and become the ruthless sporting organisation it needs to be, if a player isn't in the best side, best mix for the way we want to play, we move them on. look at the Hawks, they've had no problem moving on heart and soul players in the pursuit of improving their side. Jack is a good player, but i think we've seen the best he's going to be, and our side looks better without him in it, so i think we should take the emotion out of it and make the brave decision. instantly show the list that noone is safe, you have to perform or you're on the chopping block and start building the tough, ruthless professional sporting organisation this club has never been. Roosy did it moving on Grimes who was a heart and soul player.
  12. I'd rate Hills value at about the pick 13-18 mark. so i think a trade of Pick 3 for Hill and Pick 9 would be a fair deal. the Dockers may like an upgrade of picks to get it over the line. established outside midfielder and a presence in the top 10 is a good result.
  13. I wouldn't trade pick 2, but i would downgrade pick 3 if it meant getting an established player in as well. if Noah anderson is an option i'd take him over anyone else that is currently an option
  14. my view of the draft is that after picks 1 & 2 it drops off a little. if Noah Anderson is on the table and the suns don't get pick 2 i think we grab him in the draft. if the Suns get picks 1 & 2 i think we trade 3 if there is an opportunity to fill a significant need as in either a big key forward, or multiple outside runners.
  15. We'd have to give up a first round pick for Hill but potentially we could trade pick 3 for Hill and their first rounder - around 9. then add pick 21- Langdon to the deal and it's a win - win for both sides in my opinion.
  16. Bluey top 5 in my opinion 1. Max Gawn 2. Clayton Oliver 3. Christian Salem 4. Christian Petracca 5. James Harmes goal kicker, i reckon in the last 4 Fritsch might be a chance to run down Track on current form. though 25-30 goals and averaging 20 touches per game is a strong return from Track
  17. you have to wonder about how much of an impact Goodwin will actually allow assistants to have, if we got a new defensive coach would he allow them to set up their own structures?
  18. Lets be real, we've had a horrific year and for the most part avoided the blow torch. it was always coming and it's probably deserved.
  19. Like the sound of Deven Robertson. seems like a lot of inside midfielders at the pointy end so wonder do we go best avaliable even if we are well stocked in that area or do we draft someone a little early that fits a need? 8. Deven Robertson Best position: Inside midfield Height, weight: 182cm, 80kg Recruited from: Perth Projected draft range: 5-30 Plays like: Adam Treloar July Rankings: 8 Rationale: Nephew of Darren Glass, Robertson is one of the most productive ball-winning midfielders in the pool. Winning the Larke Medal for the best player during the Under-18 Championships, Robertson was as consistent and influential as any during the carnival Strengths: Production, attack on the ball, contested ball winning, freakish reflexes on ground ball pickups, stoppage work, work rate, endurance, speed, agility, evasion, tackling, pressure around the ground, distribution by hand, moves the ball on quickly, courage, leadership on and off the field Weaknesses: Scoreboard impact, ball use under pressure, unclear versatility
  20. Correct. have heard he is interested in another senior coaching gig, may feel a senior assistant role at another club is the best way to get his name back into those conversations. wouldn't be surprised if the Suns are looking at him on decent $$ as a good football person to come up and support Dew and develop their young players.
  21. His speed is the thing for me, he mitigates one of our big weaknesses down there in leg speed, i think the more games that he, may and Lever play together the better Frost will get.
  22. Yeah, apparently it was reported on AFL 360. i didn't watch it myself so didn't see any further info other than the tigers are aware, and he's leaving at seasons end.
  23. Apparently Caracella leaving the tigers at seasons end. i wonder if he's on our radar?
  24. Would be a great pick up. he's a lot like Tommy as a big guy with an incredible tank. i wonder where we'd intend on playing him? I reckon if the GCS get pick 2 there is a good chance pick 3 might be involved in getting Langdon and Hill from the dockers
  25. Would love to get Michael Voss in as a midfield/stoppage coach. how good would it be to have Voss to team guys like Brayshaw and Oliver?
