  1. i think an ideal/realistic 2020 line up would be B: Nev Jetta Steven May Jake Lever hb: Christian Salem Sam Frost Michael Hibberd c Brad Hill Clayton Oliver Issac Smith hf: Christian Petracca Tom McDonald Jake Melksham f: Joel Smith/Jayden Hunt Sam Weideman Bailey Fritsch Fol: Max Gawn Jack Viney Angus Brayshaw I/C: Aaron VandenBerg/Nathan Jones James Harmes Noah Anderson Ed Langdon
  2. Hard to disagree with him. we are a neither here nor there as a footy club. i think a lot of it comes back to the quality and lack of on field leaders we have. and that hurts our ability to implement a game plan for 4 quarters.
  3. Not sure Coniglio is the type that we want. but i think we have too many of Gus type in the side, we know with his concussion issues he's maybe one bad hit away from being done, and he's got significant trade value. i personally think it's the kind of brave choice they should consider

Must keep pick 2 at all costs. i'd be offering our 2020 first round pick and our 2019 second round pick for Hill and Langdon, and a later pick or something like that. and bank on us not finishing down the bottom again. if we can add in Hill, Langdon and Anderson i think we are in a good spot, especially if we look at maybe a Dan Butler for some forward pressure and a key forward, even a short term solution to support Tommy
  5. Would Angus Brayshaw be up for trade if the right offer came along lets say he netted us Brad Hill & Langdon somehow?
  6. I reckon there are two things keeping Pyke in his position, 1. the payout which has been reported. 2. no standout candidate to replace him. would they feel Goodwin was a better choice? i suspect some at the club would. would Melbourne let Goodwin go? i'd think unlikely.

I honestly think if Jack Viney wasn't who he is, he'd be on the trade table, he's one dimensional, injury prone and probably still has decent trade currency. this may be unpopular, but i loved seeing May going off at frost a few weeks back, he's passionate, drives high standards, he's clearly already a leader of the club. i think on field leadership is super important these days, i think we're fine down back with May, Lever, Jetta we lack it desperately everywhere else though.
  8. Agreed. i would almost say Lewis as a forward offers us more value than Nathan Jones as a rotation, though i wouldn't support chopping Nathan Jones given what he's done for the club.
  9. Now that i think about it i think what i heard was the club was warming to the idea of Eade/Simpson if Roos didn't sign
  10. Ah heard wrong perhaps. apologies
  11. Plus i would say he's capable of having an impact next year, we'd have to get a legitimate superstar to even considering offering up pick 2 or a package of 2-3 very good players covering several needs in one hit.
  12. 3rd. we wanted Adam Simpson before he took the Eagles job, or so i've been told.

And i've got no doubt they already are. i really think they should consider the Mini draft as a solution instead of impacting the 2019 draft. so essentially they get to pick 3 talents from the 2020 pool and offer them up a year early in exchange for a trade. i think that'd net the Gold coast suns at the least 3 very good draft selections in addition to their current one and wouldn't compromise the 2019 draft.

Based on 2019 it would be 1. Max Gawn Daylight daylight 2. Clayton Oliver Daylight 3. Christian Salem 4. Christian Petracca 5. James Harmes 6. Steven May 7. Jack Viney 8. Sam Frost 9. Tom McDonald 10. Jack Viney
  15. the locks for our best 22 right now in my eyes B: Nev Jetta Steven May Jake Lever hb: Christian Salem Sam Frost ??????? c ??????? Clayton Oliver ???????? hf: Christian Petracca Tom McDonald Jake Melksham f: ???????? ???????????????? Bailey Fritsch Fol: Max Gawn Jack Viney ???????? I/C: Angus Brayshaw, James Harmes ???????? ??????? We need some outside run desperately I think we are light on for on field leadership. desperately need a second key forward target to take the pressure off McDonald. need to open up the war chest and chase a big name here.

I seriously doubt it. i think they'll get their first pick, an end of first round pick and some other help. i don't think the AFL will like the precedent it'll set to give them that pick.
  17. If you're Nathan Jones i'm not sure why you wouldn't take the 260k and hope the extra money that is opened up can help bring a Brad Hill in so you get one last chance at a Premiership
  18. Yep. Unless Alister Clarkson expresses interested in joining the club as senior coach Goodwin will be our senior coach in 2020. but if we don't see some fairly significant improvement i don't imagine the club waiting to long to make a change.

I spoke to a mate who has a fair bit to do with young Anderson and he said under no circumstances should we trade pick 2. said we will regret it bigtime even if we managed to sign Brad hill or someone of that sort. I wonder if we could role the dice on our 2020 first rounder and a later pick and try and land Hill and Langdon

As a general rule i am uncomfortable with perscribing motive to people, but it's really hard to see how it's not at least partly based in racism when they're yet to come up with an actual legitimate reason for the abuse he copped.
  21. He's the Clarko of the high performance industry. this is an incredible get for the club. i'm really excited to see the sort of condition guys like Steven May and Christian Petracca get to under his guidance. Now lets get the coaching staff right
  22. In terms of his game plan he's made next to no obvious changes, maybe a few minor tweaks but he seems to think his game plan is flawless and if she just shuffles the magnets enough it'll fall into place. for me some of the weaknesses are very simple to fix. 1. need to get better ball users forward of center to maximise the quality of our kicks inside 50, Salem, Melksham, Jones, lewis, Fritsch, and even hold onto it until we can get it to one of these guys when numbers are back. 2. teach the players about changing tempos of the game, i've seen no clear improvement in the players understanding of when to change gears and tempos of the game, mostly we just seem to go hell for leather or way too slow. 3. hold our stoppage structure and make sure wings and flanks don't get sucked in. we have good ball hunters, back Viney, Oliver and Brayshaw to win it in close and get it out to the Salems of the world so they can use it. right now even when we do win it we don't have many options beyond an under pressure kick forward.
  23. I think from this moment on he has to play as a midfield rotation/tagger coming off the bench, with no guarantees of a spot and he plays for as long as he can hold his best 22 position. i don't think he should be captain in 2020. he's been one of the greatest demons we've ever had but i think his time is nearly up and holding onto the past could hurt the club in the now.

The continuity and time of May and Lever together down back for the rest of the year is huge for us in our push for a stronger 2020. they need to play down there together as much as they possibly can for the rest of this year. i don't mind the idea of trialing Oscar McDonald down there.
  25. I see him as a 50 goal a year second key forward which is elite, issue is he's not currently playing as a second forward. so i am rating him strictly based on what i see his ideal position as, last year he was elite as a key forward with the support of Hogan there.
