Hey, how come this website edits the word [censored]? It does have a legitimate, non-obscene meaning, such as what you do to a balloon with a pin.
-
Yay. Wish that would happen. [censored] the [censored]'s ego. Is there a more repulsive person on television? Heard him somewhere recently (think on radio, talking to Steve Price, so I know, my fault, self-inlicted wound) talking about Barack Obama - and my god, the bile Newman spewed - going on about how Obama was destroying America - and yet if you'd asked him for the slightest detail about which aspect of Obama's policy he was referring to, the pig-ignorant, plasticated fool wouldn't have known - it was just unadulterated racism - and then I remember reading last year that he'd renewed his contract with Channel 9 - for a million bucks a year - jesus - and i thought about my father, who had just died - he was a very humble working man who never had two sticks to rub together but who'd flown in Beaufort bombers against the Japanese in the Second World War and always told us as kids how important it was that we work to establish friendships with our Asian neighbours, and how kind he'd been to my Asian friends in his later years - and i thought the world is a rather upside-down place

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Jara replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
Wow - did that really happen, Jnr? (Not doubting you, I'm just surprised. For a panadol?) -
Back to work, you slacker!
-
Exactly. They paid around $4 mill - stick up a massive apartment block and it would be worth - forget what but The Age said something massive - $40-60 mill. $200,000 fine - chook feed. They should be in jail
-
well said Earl apparently the max is about $200,000 fine they're tearing down our world

Love this guy. The amount of crap he's had to put up with, and he's consistently improved. Now one of the linch-pins of the side.

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Jara replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
Presumably from the Bombers' insurers. Sure it'll cost them a fortune in the long run, what with extra premiums etc. Amazes me that the players are going to be massively compensated for taking drugs and lying about it every week. Doesn't amaze me, but pees me off that the team is going to be compensated as well (the no. 1 draft pick ). Not so much for the drugs -I presume that was mainly the mad scientist - but for their disgraceful efforts to deflect, deny, obfuscate, nit-pick, point fingers everywhere else, all of which set a shocking example for our children. -
Bit harsh. I was half asleep, but I thought for a moment that was what they meant too.
-
Thanks from me too. I'm not much of a poster - sorry - but I'm an addicted reader.

Each to his own, I suppose, and by God I wish it had been us, but for me, that was the most moving event I've seen in Australian sport since Cathy Freeman's gold. i grew up in the west, and know so many battlers of all ages who are going to bed happy tonight. And to to whoever was mocking Murphy...jeez...

Er - what? What were you doing at Subic Bay? Do you mean you took the photos yourself?

Personally, I'd be happy to see one of the Queensland teams fold and be replaced by a Tasmanian team.

The Ruby Demons - an LGBTQI Melbourne Supporter Group

Good job! Welcome. -
Interesting dilemma. My initial reaction: bloody hell, they wouldn't give us one (which still pisses me off). But I'm now swinging around to Artificial's viewpoint - the thing I hate most about footy is the constant domination by the same teams. Hawks make me want to throw up. Anything that helps the riff-raff gets my vote (not that I've got one) . I know it's only a small part of a rebuild, but every bit counts.

Hey Faulty, think we crossed in mid-air then. Great minds.....

Football is always taking a lead on social issues, whether it is conscious of it or not. When that Eff-wit Newman mouthes off with his racist, sexist, antediluvian, botoxic bile, he is taking the lead on social issues, even if he is too stupid to realise it.
-
So true. I used to go to Darwin/Arnhemland pretty often for work - it's a weird, enervating experience - takes ages to acclimatise - and I wasn't playing football - God knows what that does to you - if they can't at least arrange a bye after it, just confirms how much AFL is biased against the poorer clubs (not that confirmation is needed - the rest of us are just cannon-fodder for Hawthorn)

I don't quite understand all of this statistics stuff. Seems a bit deceptive to me. It's presumably based on the games we've played thus far, but the number of goals you've scored/conceded etc must depend upon who you've played. I reckon we've had a pretty easy run so far - the tough games are still to come - so I presume our rankings will go down. Find it hard to get excited about stats - I just like winning games - and I can't see too much more of that happening. Great that we've won five, but I fear that, come season's end, I'll be disappointed, yet again. Collingwood will be the bell wether for me - if we beat em again, that will probably give me enough pleasure to tide me over.
-
Be nice if they could base it on the last 10 years (or 50)

I enjoyed this little exchange. I know "delusions of grandeur" is the usual expression, but technically, is there anything wrong with "illusions"? Maybe it's a new expression just waiting to enter the language? English is a river, not a puddle or a pond.

I'm with Wiseblood. Bloke's just making a joke. Good on him. Need more humour in the world.
-
Agree. Roos is cruising. Too defensive. Too thick. A million bucks a year... Who gives a stuff? Put the kids through a fancy private school, have the missus come in and give the boys some yoga lessons to calm down any aggressive instincts. Cruisin. Million bucks a year for producing that. Jeez that's a lot of money. and the worst part - he chose his successor. Do we have any reason at all for thinking he'll be any better?
-
And I'm still p'd off that the AFL gave them, without a syllable of explanation, ten top up players, and the rest of us idiots who picked up the drug-taking scum, none.
-
Don't know how you judge these things, but if my feelings this morning are anything to go by, that was the most disappointing loss I've seen in the modern era.
