5 day break, Suns coming off the bye, trip to Alice

Swans crushed the Kangas last week in contested ball. Their big bodied mids overpowered the Kangas. That is our strength, along with midfield depth. Will be surprising if we don't comfortably midfield battle today. That will get us 90% of the way to winning.

Playing around with the AFL ladder predictor (yeah i know, impossible exercise with the season so close) Anyways, if we beat the Kangas and Suns we could very well be in 4th spot in the ladder heading into our bye. The catch is we would be clear of 8th spot only by %, and just 1 game from 11th spot. Crazy season.

Richmond's last win was against us, and they struggled to beat us when we were two men down. They should have 5 straight losses. Born loser Jack Riewoldt was celebrating like they won the grand final. Tomorrow night they will be out of the 8, and wont get back in. - edit. They will still be in the 8 after this round.. but are on their way out.

Our midfield makes us a contender. There arent many better ones in the AFL. Get Hogan and Gawn back and the skys the limit. The AFL season is war of attrition as much as anything, and we have the depth in our list to still be going strong come August-Septembr. We have tired badly toward the end of seasons for years. Wont be a problem in 2017. We will get players like Vandenberg and Joel Smith back in the last third of the year too. Perhaps with some luck, Angus as well. A player like Jake Melksham will come in handy too. Sure you can criticize that we have pick 25 for him, but as we push to finals and players tire, I would much rather his seasoned body over another 19 year old that isn't quite ready.

Time to replace Gillon McLachlan.
