  1. Footy's Back!
  2. To bring Lockhart in probably means Nev Jetta is out. I also don't see Hibberd in as Riviers has earned his place for a few rounds based on his debut last week and I think Smith needs some time to get into his groove. I'd like to see our current backline settled so that they can build cohesion. I'm guessing either ANB or Jackson will make way for Pickett and or one of Hannan or AVB.
  3. West Coast have done pretty well with Hurn and McGovern as great intercept defenders along with Collingwood and Howe, not to mention Richmond with Rance and Grimes. The intercept defenders remains instrumental in the modern game, regardless of 6-6-6. Our problem has been a lack of cohesion due to injury and our defensive 6-7 not playing many games together.
  4. I reckon he's gone a bit Donald Trump. He should start circulating rumours about the AFL deep state next and how he is draining the swamp.
  5. Thanks Lucifer's Hero, brilliant read!
  6. Yep agree re complacency, which is where a scare like we had v Carlton can be useful tool for getting us playing consistently for the rest of the season. Looking forward to seeing us play like we did in the first quarter for a full game v Druggies on Sunday.
  7. Collingwood, Hawthorn and Eagles (all highly successful teams/clubs faded badly in the second half. I honestly think across the league it will take the first few rounds for teams to establish some consistency. A positive from our match is the first half provides a clear picture of the way we want to play, so the coaches can show players what our game style is meant to look like, and then use footage from the second half to compare what we did differently btw halves and the impact on how things unfold.
  8. Now that was exciting ?
  9. It's more like letting a current Oil and Gas exec loose with public policy.
  10. I just read the last page and not one mention of the Prince, what's up with that?
  11. Can a rugby player contract the virus by urinating in their own mouth?
  12. Hopefully our round 1 loss is still raw to the players and they set the tone early. Nothing better then rolling up the next round to atone, rather than having to wait months like we had to after prelim final loss in 2018.
  13. I reckon we stack our reserves with best 22 and focus on this match. Carlton will never see it coming.
  14. I'd play Charlie Spargo in the ruck. He might go really well, why knows? Be bold we don't know unless we try it. He may do things that have never been done on the football field, beautiful.
  15. Someone is obviously missing their footy. While Clarry probably should retain and kick a bit more it's easy to forget how good he is at clearing space with a handball.
  16. I reckon Jolimont could still happen, just need to not be weak and dominate the pesky neighbourhood with teargas and riot shields. Remind the neighbourhood that it's tenants can relocate elsewhere if they want their dog to be able to take a [censored] in the park.
  17. How come Carlton are part of the MCG bunch. Their home is Edihad.
  18. Fully agree with this SWYL. I also think that the way the club is talking internally is that of a big club, but we need to back it up on the field this season, and each season thereafter.
  19. The big clubs need to be careful that if they want to hold on to all of the revenue their club receive through their role in the AFL competition, the AFL may shift from its revenue maximising model where the bigger clubs receive more prime time games, and instead focus on all clubs receiving equal exposure. This way the smaller clubs would require less 'assistance'.
  20. We simply need to perform on field year in year out, which means playing finals every year and being in the conversation re premiers every season. Do this and our membership base will grow significantly, sponsorship will increase and we will gain State and local government support for new facilities in the MCG precinct. On the positive our list is young, balanced and extremely talented and I think ready to take the necessary steps to challenge for a premiership. While inconsistent in 2018 we won two finals against two of the powerhouse teams of the decade and the club did not muck around in making changes for 2020 only 10 rounds into the season. To all of our supporters, if you can afford a membership then I'd implore you to buy one as the ability of the club to fund it's footy program at an elite level is probably now the most important thing to our success for the next decade and beyond.
  21. I would think that for the AFL to reduce the salary cap for 2021 that they would need agreement with the AFLPA to revise existing contracts downward, otherwise what happens if a club have most of its players locked away so that they are over the revised salary cap with their existing contracts.
  22. I haven't bothered to read the article, and as Stevens hasn't been charged by police or committed any offense, I cannot see how he would be suspended by the AFL on the basis that he was stabbed.
  23. I'd rather we use this year to get our list fit and experiment using players in different positions and strengthen our hand in the draft. We can then retire a couple of older players on good coin with some quality draftees and target a free agent.
  24. I'm hoping many of the younger assistants in the coaching ranks are able to stay in the game and provide for their families. With the growth in the women's game and also if draft age increases this may help in raising the profile of the state based leagues along with grass roots footy.
  25. With the social distancing rules requiring 4m2 per patron, could we partner with Crown to deliver a training ground and facilities as part of an extension to the Casino go spread out the gaming floors across additional facilities. This provides for community integration, as who doesn't like to play the slots or play their hand at Poker, while increasing State Government revenue and could also include a new Terminal for the Skybus between airport and gaming facilities. Get it done Melbourne!
