  1. I reckon we habdle the trade period exceptionally well. We are clear about what we want and then work with the other 17 clubs to achieve it. While not as exciting as the Geelong and Essendon posturing we get things done and are fair to deal with.
  2. This is a bit simplistic to assume that Campo isn't good enough for us just because he was let go by Adelaide. As Lord Nev pointed out, a new coach usually picks their Senior Assistant. Also, as far as we know Campo may have wanted a fresh start or might already have a role lined up or it might simply be the club seeing the need for change to help rejuvenate the club and it's culture.
  3. It's all just words, counts for nothing on the field 'flossy flossy' Buckanan.

I think you need to get with the program
  5. I don't think pick 3 is enough for Tim Kelly. If you could be guaranteed to get a player as good as Kelly in the draft you would take him at pick 3 in a heartbeat, even knowing that you would need to invest in his development for 3-4 years before he comes into his prime.

A one trick pony is better than a zero trick pony
  7. The most disturbing part of this is that you follow Ricky Nixon on twitter.
  8. The teacher role doesn't need to be a single player, it can simply be having understanding of game style, awareness of what is happening on the field and good communication across all lines. This will probably come through our core group of under 25 y/old players.
  9. The club have taken on board feedback from Demonland and decided that our remaining two coaching positions will be virtual roles filled by posts from demonland these will encompass list management, strategy and match day tactics. Strap in for the ride...
  10. This is a good pickup by GCS and a great move by Ellis. GCS are better off targeting 4-5 mature players who can win their position on field, provide leadership on their line and help develop culture, rather than go for superstar players. If we consider the cost of a mature player who can break even in their position it would be around $300k. If a superstar costs $1.2 - 1.5 million a season and a player like Ellis costs $600k, then you can afford 3-4 Ellis's for the same TPP as a single superstar. Taking this approach the GCS can use the draft to develop their own superstars or trade in once they have their culture, game style and on field performances in order.

Charlie Spargo will be 10 x the player Jamie Elliot is, that is unless Elliot accepts our offer.

We didn't want him anyway, a poor mans Charlie Spargo.
  13. Exactly
  14. More words.
  15. It's just words. Show me action.
  16. I'll see your Tollinson and raise you one Finlayson who had one effective disposal.

Reading Mahoney's article posted on the MFC page yesterday it looks as though Frost has been asked to ezplore his options, but if he doesn't have any suitors then Melbourne have a contract for him. This is similar to the Watts situatiin a couple of years ago and something I don't have any issue with.
  18. Sorry Kids, if that is your real name, many of us don't give a rats about the last 55 years and instead live in the present and the changes and improvements to be had in 2020. Sitting behind a keyboard using a silly name to take pot shots at a well respected senior coaching figure is not demanding better.

ET - your so called facts have ruined my narrative that Hawthorn turnes Jack Fitzpatrick into an absolute superstar.

Exhibit A - Fitzy at Melbourne Exhibit B - Fitzy at Hawthorn
  21. Scott Brother 1 is on record saying he can't see the trade happen ans that he'd expect 4 round one picks and a player to trade out Tim Kelly. Seems reasonable.

A bit like Collingwood getting Mayne instead of Mundy.
  23. Agree fully re Gawn, not only his onfield performance and presence but also his maturity as a leader and ability to communicate and command an audience. Im supportive of Gawn being our sole captain and Viney and one other as VC.
  24. To those deriding Viney finishing third you need to get a clue. Viney is a jet!
