  1. It annoys me when the AA teams have star midfielders as Half Forwards. Pick the best players that play in that position rather than squeeze extra midfielders into what is a speciality position FFS.
  2. I'd support this on the basis that while lockdown restrictions will likely ease next Friday it will be at least a couple of more weeks after that before crowds will be able to attend the footy. Even swapping the bye round would likely see no crowds. SA is a great footy state and would put on a show befitting the occassion. It would also go a long way to mitigating financial losses while being a neutral ground that we play well at and therefore a suitable substitute for our home game.
  3. I'd question whether it is about having no cases or rather not having cases that cannot be linked to an existing exposure site or case. If all of the new cases are people that have been self isolating (3,000 Victorians are self isolating for 24 days and a further 12,000 until they test negative) and the whole state has been in lockdown for 5 days that should be enough for an exemption. It is also likely that other states will reopen their border within 24 hours of Vic easing restrictions which is what has happened in all of the recent circuit breaker style lockdowns.
  4. I wonder what day/time a decision needs to be made. With the 7 day "circuit-breaker" lockdown scheduled to finish midnight on Thursday, and an announcement likely on the Thursday morning on whether restrictions would ease, it is plausible that the NT Government could allow Melbourne to travel on either Thursday or Friday morning if we don't have cases that cannot be traced to an existing case.
  5. Interesting that no-one has suggested T-Mac to the wing and Ben Brown forward. What a difference 2 months makes.
  6. Good opportunity for Oscar Baker to show his wares. Langdon is among our best but with the system we have I reckon Baker can step up.
  7. Not if the break between quarters is longer to offset shorter quarters. The marketers could then play more ads during the longer breaks.
  8. What is the isolation requirement re secondary contacts? Alif it's 14 days then we have a problem but if it's self isolate until a negative test then it would have to be all clear, provided the results come back before the first bounce.
  9. I haven't bothered reading the article but this is a silly thing to say. Until we win multiple premierships with Oliver and Trac receiving Brownlow, AA and Norm Smith accolades this is very premature. Settle down fireman.
  10. Will hit 50k easy. The club will give away a Jaguar with every membership if needed.
  11. Seriously why not. We have Casey to train at while the cricket is on. We should use our relationship with the MCC to make this happen. Use the argument that Geelong train on their home ground and so should we.
  12. There is alot of excitement here about the fine, but does anyone have footage of the incident?
  13. I'd drop T-Mac, he is playing too well, we need to make sure he doesn't get ahead of himself, and it sends a message for he rest of the list that no-one is safe, not even one of the best key forwards in the competition.
  14. Imo, that we haven't played great footy all year, with the exception of the Richmond game, is precisely the reason we should beat Carlton. They need alot to go right, while if we can keep going and make some small improvements then we should comfortably account for them.
  15. In fairness, outside of the Richmond game which we were strong across all lines and phases of the be game I don't think we've really hit our straps. The last couple of weeks we've been smashed in clearance, and in other rounds we've played 2+ quarters of ordinary football with 1 quarter of dominance against middle of the road teams. I think we have a strong enough system, talent and fitness across all lines to jag wins even when we aren't playing great football, which barring significant injuries, should see us win more than we lose for the remaining rounds. This week if we tighten up around the centre bounces you'd think we beat Carlton, but get smashed in this area again and if we struggle in one or more of contested ball, forward 50 entry, or defensive pressure, and if Carlton bring their A game then we will lose.
  16. It is for this reason I don't care about All Australian teams. It should be a team but instead it is about fitting individuals into 22 spots with little consideration of the role of each position. How good would it be if blokes like Charlie Spargo with 6 possessions, but play their role to perfection, made the rolling AA team in a given week because they were the best small forward position player, not because they kick 5 goals or are a star mid that rests forward.
  17. There is a positive in this, we are in a really strong position at 8-0 to play a few more games without Viney and have a bit more depth through guys like James Jordon who are playing very well getting a game. We know what Viney brings in big games snd don't need 22 games from him, we need him fit enough to play and make it through finals. He's the sort of player than can have 6 weeks off, come straight back into a big game and be best on ground.
  18. Jaded, I'm not sure this is the case. Does anyone know whether a player can be suspended for an offence that normally carries a fine if they have a poor prior record? I thought that the fines just get bigger.
  19. If I'm a dunce then why was Fritsch's appeal successful and why will Melbourne accept May's sanction? Good fellow, I suggest you focus less on conspiracy theories and calling people names and more on getting better at predicting outcomes based on logic and reason.
  20. I don't have a issue with this. It was a bump that ended up sliding up Buddy's arm and hit him high, when he had alternatives to smother the ball or tackle, which to me fits the definition of Careless. Fritsch didn't somehow get off, he had no opportunity to dispose of the ball in the 0.2 seconds between taking possession and impact with Powell which ment his brace and push off action was deemed reasonable and therefore accidental rather than careless. I'm fine with all of this.
  21. Super impressive individual and I think will do a great job.
  22. Same day travel is ludicrous for a professional sports organisation. I've travelled alot through my work and nowadays wouldn't even consider travelling on the same day as an important meeting or client engagement. Both the early start and sitting in an aeroplane without fresh air is taxing on the body.
  23. So good, this is awesome news! Now let's get ANB signed beyond 2022 and were set.
  24. Accidental means no case to answer homie, which is what the Tribunal ruled. Case closed.
  25. Goody talks about picking out best team every week and Fritsch was our best player last week and is our best forward. I'm bewildered why we would allow him to sit out a week when he should be playing. We are one of the big boys now, only one of 6 unassisted clubs, are top of the ladder, haven't lost a game all season and we are coming up against a tough opponent in Sydney. It is totally unsurprising that the club is seeking to overturn the 1 week suspension.
