  1. The Casey continuum is definitely a conundrum. I'd prefer to share an inner city VFL ground going forward as the match day option. Port Melbourne or Coburg for example
  2. JUH not being at Monday training after being at the boxing on Saturday is curious. Could not help but notice the following in the next SEN article: Former Docker, Sun and Demon Harley Bennell kicked 6 goals to help guide the Lions to a 9-point win over Dederang Mount Beauty FNC 15.8 98 to 12.17 89.
  3. Interesting that no matches to be played there which puts Casey firmly into play for VFL etc
  4. In the Hawthorn game (who can forget) Dipper and Brereton lined up Robbie (obviously a planned move) and sandwich bumped him from left and right. A horrible look
  5. Regulation win coming up in the scheme of things. Fullarton to be tried and BBB rested. Seven weeks to the mid season bye. Need to go 5-2 minimum
  6. Not a stupid idea given the growth of the West but the reality is that they should merge. All quiet on the Tasmanian stadium front in the public arena.
  7. Very small ground for spectators and now that the old stand is no longer even smaller. That being said I wouldn't expect many attendees. I wonder how many emergencies we'll keep back for the evening
  8. Thought this might be a good game but Sydney too good
  9. Glad I didn't go If there's one thing worse than a Magpie win it's a comeback win
  10. AFL have admitted to an umpiring error on the Draper HTB play The AFL has conceded it erred in not paying a free kick against Sam Draper for a controversial dive on the ball on Friday night, as the Essendon cult hero said he had no other choice but to do what he did with the game on the line. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/crows-won-t-bite-on-costly-non-call-against-bombers-20240419-p5flat.html
  11. What a horrible game. Watched it on fast forward. What has happened to Adelaide's exciting corridor game? Most goals were scrambled kicks or hail mary's.
  12. The oval is the showgrounds oval. GWS rent it for a fee so those weeks they don't pay rent. The Prize Bulls take over
  13. Not to my knowledge. Last year we used Jordon in the midfield and Laurie has only had one game at AFL level this year. In 2023 Laurie did not play VFL as a midfielder as we had Dunstan at VFL level. Might have played as an outside mid/wing at VFL level.
  14. Outside the soft cap I assume so this is what rich clubs will do. Get one first round equivalent every five years and they're laughing. Surprised they publicised it as a "secret" academy would be my plan
  15. The funny thing is that for all their problems... Dogs are only one game behind us By the end of the weekend we will probably be 8th It's a long season
  16. It's not looking bad weather wise OD. Top of 19.. Low of 11 and light winds. Might head along with my AFL membership and brave GA in the AFL section assuming they've left a few bays
  17. Good ideas. Hunter is interesting but emotions wise I'd like to see Tholstrup get one more game
  18. Kane Cornes has sunk the boot into Bevo Despite having the 2023 All-Australian ruckman Tim English, and two of the game’s best clearance players in Marcus Bontempelli and Tom Liberatore, Essendon’s young midfield outscored the Bulldogs by 16 points from stoppages. It’s becoming increasingly clear that Beveridge’s coaching methods have fallen behind the league’s best. This was evident in the loss to Geelong in round four when Beveridge was again out-coached by Chris Scott. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/why-beveridge-has-to-go-and-the-man-who-should-replace-him-20240418-p5fkqt.html
  19. Unless he has onball skills a la Luke Jackson I can't see a ruckman being picked in the first round in the foreseeable future. I'm envisaging 1.5 years at Casey minimum if not 2.5. First ruck is a very demanding role. If it suits him and the family I'd even be offering to leave him in Qld for year 1 to develop just that little more. With his Dad as his ruck coach it probably wouldn't do any harm and gives him just that little more time. The cold winds of Casey can be a lonely place to ply your trade
  20. Next Tuesday's weather is very pleasant. Let's hope it is the same for Wednesday. I wonder how many reserved seat holders Richmond has. Suspect there will be a fair few empty. Perhaps a visit to the Tigers forum might unleash a few for those who are willing (Quiet barrackers only of course)
  21. I'm afraid you will find that the Great AFL Wall resembles the Great Internet Wall of China. There are replay sites provided by wonderful fans but you generally wait 24-48 hours. Live radio is still available. Good luck.. it's a lottery
  22. Assuming decent weather this should be a regulation win. Other than BBB who I think would benefit from a longer break and the compulsory in for Salem and the return of Picket I'd like to see the team settle. Fullarton in for the week to take 50% ruck and to give JVR some more forward time. Max to be used more sparingly. We have seven matches to the mid season bye. Realistically to finish top 4 we need to go 5-2. That's a tough ask as 4 of our opponents are Collingwood, Carlton, Freo and Geelong. Each of these games are at best 60/40. I'm moderately happy with the team progress to date but the time to get the forward line bedded down is fast running out. Petty should have had a game or two more at Casey but he has now been back for three games and should be match fit.
  23. More money from the AFL just like GWS and GCS etc. AFL never makes hard decisions just like politicians. Too much backlash
