NON-MFC: Round 13
We're growing the pie We're bringing our wonderful game to new markets The mantra continues Would love to read the inside story of how much the China experiment cost. I'll bet we're very jealous of the NRL's play in Vegas

Ok.... I'll say it How did ?????

NON-MFC: Round 13
I believe so: Melbourne sold home games to the ground between 2001 and 2007 in an attempt to rescue their dramatic financial woes, before moving to the ACT for 2008 - 2009 and the Northern Territory from 2010 onwards. http://demonwiki.org/Gabba Edit: Apparently Fitzroy were first in the early 90]s hosting teams at Nth Hobart Oval and then at Bruce stadium in Canberra https://footyology.com.au/is-alice-deal-really-worth-it-for-melbourne/ This article touches on our NT experiment

NON-MFC: Round 13
North are playing two less games in Hobart this year and this is just their attempt to make up the shortfall. Agree with you in the sense that Hobart was neutral while selling a home game to Freo which is to be played at the Perth stadium is marginal to say the least

NON-MFC: Round 13
North playing a home game in Bunbury WA against the Eagles. When you add in their Hobart games they are truly a team without a home. They've also sold their home game against Freo but it's played in Perth at Optus. (This one is interesting because when we sold our home game to Brisbane all those years ago other clubs complained that Brisbane was getting an additional home game that increased their already considerable chances of a high ladder position.) On the money side the deal goes until 2027 and is reported to be worth around $2.5M per year. At $1.25M per match that's very good money by comparison to what is reported for similar deals. For example we are rumoured to receive $800k for playing in Alice Springs

Might be worth turning on the Kayo for the second half down at the Pork Barrel. A win down there would definitely be a solid pointer for the Suns

NON-MFC: Round 13
Tigers almost scoreless for two quarters. Swans not exactly killing it but now well ahead What is wrong

PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Unfortunately true The one thing I would say is that while AFL is faster than VFL there is often more space at AFL level. The jury is out on Tholstrup. My recent watch has been Culley. Maybe

Hypotheticals on Tasmania entry concessions
You can feel where this is heading and the AFL need to be careful that it doesn't become the scapegoat. AFL needs to make a clear statement re-confirming its position. Otherwise.... Labor and Liberals back the stadium as part of their election promises. No party gets a majority but Labor puts together a co-alition that has a vague commitment to the stadium like "We're committed to the build when we've dealt with immediate economic priorities." Meanwhile we implore the AFL to allow a team using the existing facilities which we are prepared to spend $100M upgrading. The spin will win as usual but who is the better spinner And then there's the "cash" alternative. $10M to each club might change the approach by each club.

PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Here's a great article on the physical damage Dermot Brereton did to his body playing football. Can't help but think what we are doing to Max allowing him to play with limited support. Hawthorn great and media commentator Dermott Brereton has graphically described how he cannot put his shoes and socks on, and struggles to walk down stairs or shake hands on some days, due to the severe physical toll of playing football. In a powerful speech at the Melbourne Cricket Club, Brereton, who played in a famously combative style, detailed how his present life was impacted by injuries, how he struggled to sleep due to shoulder pain and that he was still feeling the impact of taking anti-inflammatory medications for four decades. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/i-just-can-t-put-on-shoes-and-socks-dermott-brereton-s-crippling-legacy-20250606-p5m5ig.html

Hypotheticals on Tasmania entry concessions
Can someone remind me... Has the AFL agreed to underwrite the annual operating costs of the Devils in a manner similar to North, the Suns etc. Is there a limit on the rent that the Stadium "owner" can charge the new team. If it's a market rent the team will have great difficulty getting anywhere close to breakeven.

Blame the strange voting system in Tasmania. If this was in say SA no party would dare go to an election saying no to the stadium simply because it would cause a 5% swing that could lose a crucial seat. Tasmania is more like the Federal Senate with each area (boundaries are the same as the Federal seats) electing seven members. Thus like the Senate the last two elected in each of the seven areas hold a crucial balancing vote. You don't need many votes to get those last two spots. What a "Devil" of a system

Goalkicking
Have often heard this "excuse" but it begs the question of what is the most important aspect of football especially for designated forwards. I'd sacrifice the odd strength session for intensive goal kicking practice

PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
With Viney unavailable (fractured hand) I'd look at Jai Culley in place of Sharp or Laurie. His form at Casey has been okay without setting the world on fire

Goalkicking
Excellent suggestions. I'd also have set shot training with earbuds pumping crowd noises and other distractions.

PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
It was around $1.6M for two games back in 2018 being the last year for disclosed figures. During covid NT reportedly withheld $1.45M in total from us and the Suns. So my guess is that these days it's around $800k gross which is probably $650k after expenses. We'd need a crowd of around 60k to make that money at the MCG is my guess

Time to go Goody?
Not the greatest coaching by Goody today. Lyon parked the bus and played rebound footy at which we failed miserably. Too many quick defenders pushing high leaving only the plodders to defend. The goal inaccuracy has become a coaching issue no matter what is said. Anyway the thoughts of final 8 are now over. Let's see if we can work on the gameplan. The big test comes in the first half of next season

Yep Forwards should practice two hours per week goal kicking under all scenarios. Elementary you'd think

GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Lyon has parked the bus and is relying on the rebound which we just gave him. Oh Goody you're not great at tactics
