  1. Yep Sums up the team and makes you wonder if next year will be any different. Ageing backline, non functioning forward line and one dimensional midfield.
  2. Always surprised that France has not pressured the Lions to change their theme song. It's not exactly respectful to an amazing history
  3. As a spectacle not bad at all. Watching the UK stream on TNT Sports (no censoring) from what I could understand which was little
  4. Go Storm It's time
  5. Just checking my viewing channel for tomorrow (TNT Sports UK) Geelong Cats v Brisbane Lions (Bounce-up 5.30am). Coverage of the Grand Final at GMHBA Stadium Oh to follow a sport with such wonderful international reach ! It has a "Start time" of one hour before Bounce Up so I might be able to catch the Dogg and others
  6. Now that is what I call a foot to the metal win Looking forward to watching the replay later as I was out and about
  7. Seems that Elliot is exploring a move from Collingwood to GCS for more money and an extra year. Must be some real salary cap pressure at the magpies Collingwood have only a certain amount to spend under their salary cap, having outlaid more than $850,000 per season on long-term contracts for both Dan Houston and Harry Perryman last year. They have a squad replete with mature players, and relatively few youngsters on the minimum, compared with rivals. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/billy-over-brody-why-the-pies-have-to-make-elliott-their-priority-20250925-p5mxtq.html
  8. Strange decision given the way the modern game is played. Sometimes you just have to trust Management. Our VFL development plan has not produced many contributors. I think we slavishly mimic the senior team and worry too much about winning than development. At least the years of boundary line play are receding.
  9. Looks like strong winds and showers for Friday afternoon. Perfect Casey weather
  10. Probably should have been given a senior game in those last two rounds just to brush off the first game nerves. Has he overtaken Jefferson? Possibly and where does that leave Jefferson. Could be a find
  11. Sounds like we have offered more money plus perhaps an extra year Not thrilled to say the least... "He is 32, turning 33 next year. Melbourne is at the front of the queue. They've got a great offer on the table for him, and I don't think you could begrudge him (leaving). This is a guy that started his AFL career at 24. He's been a warrior, a premiership player for Collingwood, but they just can't match the money. "And they probably can't match the years, given the age and stage. Some of the issues around his body in the last couple of years, clearly hampered by the dislocated toe from the qualifying final in Saturday's prelim." https://au.news.yahoo.com/sydney-swans-player-floated-as-potential-replacement-if-brody-mihocek-departs-collingwood-054632621.html
  12. Wether or not I can agree is one thing but ewe could say he's a hogget in Lamb's backline flock
  13. MFC seems to give out "one year too many" deals like confetti. Most posters defend the practice by saying that a slow "Player X" is better than a late second round draft pick. Could be right but what does it say about player depth in this competition. Personally I'd prefer to have given Seston another year than keep May or dare I say it,Fullarton (he was just starting to show something at CHB for Casey).
  14. Who prints a calendar in September in this day and age. Mind you who even buys calendars these days
  15. GCS are by a long way the worst defence in the league. (400 points against with number 17 at 329) Attacking they are solidly mid table. On paper should be a good win (but always beware of Goodwin Sands)
  16. This medal used to be always won by a good player from a lesser club. It was simply that at the higher clubs there were other "good" players who split the votes. It's obviously changed. I'd love to a breakdown on how many players got three votes in a losing team. Similarly where a team loses by 15 points or more how many times does a player in the losing team get votes. Strikes me as a perfect science project for a gambling syndicate.
  17. It's an NFL thing. State and City governments now pay for stadiums. Tasmania unlike NSW is a price taker and this is the price. The AFL didn't tell them where to build the stadium. Most new NFL stadiums are built out of town on cheap land which becomes valuable as an entertainment/exhibition centre with surrounding outlets
  18. The BIG game is the night before at AAMI Storm v Sharks
  19. India or even one or two States of India is definitely worth some grass roots investment. (The China play was a Kochie vanity project that should never be repeated). Strangely enough Kochi could be a perfect place to start. It might even attract the Victorian Indian diaspora. Being 5 hours behind it's not a bad TV market for 7:30pm games either
  20. It's protected by Australian isolation in both a geographical and time zone sense. The only time zone that remotely competes is US sport shown around 10am East Coast time. Agree with your point in that if they had serious competition they would falter. When are we going to hear about games in New Zealand again. They've tried everywhere else
  21. Looking at the ladder I'm not sure percentage will be a big determinant for us but not running out the game is not great.
  22. With Pies and perhaps Geelong on a downer due to age in coming years Brisbane and GCS may establish a window of dominance Entry of Tasmania also helps Brisbane and GCS in that they retain their academy bump while the high draft picks held by lower clubs are compromised by the Tasmanian concessionary picks
  23. One handball too many in some plays. Unlikely to hold up against North
  24. Hi OD My comment re May playing with Moore was more about their relative reputations. I cannot see Moore accepting May's outbursts against any member of the backline
