  1. I'm starting to love AFLX In hindsight it was better than what they've rolled out... State of Origin, Indigenous game, Opening round, Gather round, Wildcard round PLEASE STOP meanwhile country football is dying... AFL Victoria announced on Monday that its “regional administrative centre model” – brought in based on recommendations made in 2011 – would be scrapped after AFL Barwon decided to exit the program and go it alone. Barwon joined AFL Sunraysia, AFL Gippsland, AFL Goldfields, AFL Western District, AFL Central Murray and AFL Wimmera Mallee in quitting the program, with leagues under those six regional administrative centres (RACs) returning to self-management. Now AFL South East, AFL North East Border, AFL Barwon, AFL Central Victoria and AFL Goulburn Murray will make the same transition. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/burnout-lack-of-support-high-turnover-the-problems-brewing-as-country-footy-gets-biggest-shake-up-in-years-20251111-p5n9dc.html
  2. A favour for Benny G perhaps
  3. His year to break out was 2025 but he went backwards. The injury before the VFL finals didn't help nor did having too many tall forwards in the VFL side
  4. The real question is why don't we use the VFL to try fringe players in two or three positions. At the very least you increase your depth. Tom Fullarton is a case in point. NQR as a forward but was starting to show something down back when put down there for the last half of 2025.
  5. Was that a line in Monty Python 😎
  6. Oh happy days !!!
  7. Hope so but that European group can be an absolute minefield What do you think they need to do to bury the curse. A good Strega is needed perhaps
  8. Not quite,,,, The final tournament format since 1998 has had 32 national teams competing over the course of a month in the host nations. There are two stages: the group stage, followed by the knockout stage... This tournament (2026) will be the first to include 48 teams, expanded from 32. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_FIFA_World_Cup
  9. I follow some travel sites etc for World Cups. Many of the big team supporters are saying they will give most of the round robin games a miss due to time and cost.
  10. The opening round, Gather Round and now the Wildcard round seem so far to have been given to the TV companies for nothing. Next step is to monetise those games. Opening Round in Perth or Brisbane is an easy one if the WA or Qld governments are crazy enough to pay what SA does for Gather Round. If like Gather Round the participating clubs got $1M you'd see clubs queuing up to play in the round.
  11. Get with the lingo... Post Season Play Off Rounds
  12. In NFL the wild card makes good sense as it rewards the highest third place getter across the various conferences who in some cases may have won more games than a second placed team in another conference who automatically qualifies. Basketball seems to love multiple games as does baseball so why not another round. I wonder if we'll ever see baseball played in the snow given they finish their season so late. The season is now around four weeks too long but what do I know
  13. As very many have said Vic Park would be a wonderful home and away venue. Great transport. Nearby food places for a bite to eat etc
  14. Looking like Crows next week. Straight sets a definite possibility
  15. That ended quickly Who are we hoping to win btw Crows and Saints
  16. Accuracy is rarely our strongest point
  17. needed that one
  18. Well that was a half of two halves
  19. It is the way
  20. Game over with Blues scoring 4 goals to nil this quarter Edit... make that 6 Blues could give Hawks a run for their money and we might play them in a PF
  21. Is this comp dead? Not North but the opposing top 4 team with only a few points. Perfect night for football etc Life support is close I hope Last quarter gave Nth's score a nice bump but it masked some fundamental failings
  22. They have a case. I can see some clearance fees or similar being requested. Problem is unlike soccer they are different codes so no central body.
  23. Line ball at best this game. Our form in the last five games has been like a sputtering old triumph with a few great quarters and some stalling in others. Need a good performance or we could be facing the dreaded straight sets Weather for Sunday looks quite good compared to Saturday. On another note... how did the Eagles make the 8. Saw their game at Casey and they were lacking to say the least.
  24. But how do you maintain flexibility in the face of multiple permutations. Algorithmically it's an interesting exercise
  25. Would be interesting to see how recruitment teams go about identifying their number 37 pick. Do they have a field of say five or ten possibles ranked and then take the best available on the night. Ranking ten players in a definite order would be an enormous task. Do less and you run the risk that no player on your list is left or you've missed someone you thought would go at 25. Much easier at the higher picks as you know the academy and F/S picks etc together with say the top 5.
