  1. Playing a Queensland side or GWS would reduce the natural crowd bias. Playing WCE in Alice is a classic example of an own goal if the game meant anything this season. Strange you know... AFL would be desperate to get games in Darwin so it really should not be an issue demanding we play team X. The problem is we did a deal with the NT Government without doing a concurrent deal with the AFL. We can be so dumb off the field as well as on sometimes.
  2. I pretty well gave up on this season around 3-5 weeks ago so I am happy to agree that last night and the WCE game showed some improvement in the form of key players. The continual injuries means we cannot get a settled line up. Cannot understand why Preuss was not played last night allowing Max to be used as a shock trooper. Hoping for some consistency from Weideman and a return to some form by Tom Mac. The other is May and Lever returning... not because they will make that much difference in the short term but because the team has to get used to playing with them in the side. Probably give the QB game a miss... there is something about losing to Collingwood that particularly depresses me...
  3. Surprised by the 'surprise" expressed in the post game thread about the crowd being Pro Adelaide. NT has been a major supporter of South Australian teams for decades. Similarly due to geographical location Adelaide has always been the "big smoke" for NT residents. If anybody thinks we are building support in the NT by this fiasco they believe in fairies at the bottom of the garden and that Port will have 200M Chinese followers after today. It's about money pure and simple. A few people have been potting Pert lately but I'm not sure he has had much time to do anything wrong. Last year IIRC Jackson re- signed us to another four years of ignominy in the North. If Pert can get rid of these games he'll have my backing for that alone. No one else does such a ridiculous transition... (Port in China is a joke)... Tasmania is reasonable and will change soon when North relocates (I hope.) Even the Bulldogs are now paid to play in Ballarat whereas in recent years they were sent to Cairns. Last year all the members had to pay $5 to go on the waiting list for GF tickets that never eventuated. We happily paid it. Would we each pay $5 to Ditch Darwin.
  4. let's be positive... we may have thrown it away but I think it's our smallest loss for this irrelevant season.. perhaps we are improving
  5. not soon enough
  6. I think that the aim of this game is to kick goals but at least we are scoring
  7. Gawn with two crucial mistakes due to tiredness... where is his relief
  8. 25 degrees with 60% relative humidity... who knows who will last but fitness is not exactly our strong point
  9. After having 23 disposals up to the 25 minute mark of the second quarter, with almost twenty minutes gone in the third quarter Oliver for the Demons has only registered one more additional disposal, an effective handball.
  10. Oliver.....one possession this quarter
  11. a few upsets this round... perhaps we could add to them for the wild optimists a top 4 finish became more likely over the last 24 hours.
  12. Casey Radio expert commentator criticizing the Casey gameplan and saying the team is going backwards. Sounds dismally familiar
  13. Preuss misses from 30 after his second possession for the match
  14. Did a bit of research on it last year. It is in fact a trade mission with various Australian companies and governments using the game and the lead up as marketing opportunities. In that sense fine but it has nothing to do with football and is a questionable use of around $2M of AFL money. And don't get me started on this being an away game for Port !!!
  15. Didn't realise the Shanghai jolly is on this weekend. Apparently a few Saints players down with "food poisoning". Having eaten street food all over the world I have to laugh a little. Peter Gordon (chairman of the Billdogs) was asked why the AFL pumped money into this game and he admitted that he was lost as there was no business case to show that it delivered any benefit.
  16. spoke too early DZ ?... just outmarked by a Werribee player who luckily missed on the siren
  17. Casey looking sluggish... two more goals to Werribee and now twelve odd points up
  18. amazing over reaction https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-2019-afl-bans-richmond-cheer-squad-member-for-green-maggot-umpire-slur/news-story/b22e4161225bbdf77b9f007892039030 “The football field is the umpire’s place of work and it is seen that any abuse directed towards them or any on-field official is deemed as workplace bullying and will not be tolerated,’’ the memo said. The ban comes after the AFL sent Carlton a “please explain” afters is cheer squad called an umpire a “w***er”.
  19. Casey Radio will be there.. great commentary team https://www.3ser.org.au/program.html?vfl-football-round-9-saturday
  20. So who ended up as the travelling emergencies? thanks Wouldn't mind getting down to Werribee but it's a long way round the ring road etc
  21. well for those who still believe in Santa Claus a Kangas win could be a good one for the MFC. Must say Brown is expert at playing for frees and I mean that in a technical way.
  22. One has to ask sometimes if the AFL has it's match ticketing/promotions right. North home game tonight against a team that claims 100,000 members (perhaps 200,000 plus supporters) but there is barely half a stadium full (25,000). A team like North could make big money by promoting itself to the Tiges fans as a cheap way to see your team etc etc. Then again the cynic in me tells me that these membership numbers are perhaps flakey to say the least.
  23. Has to be one of the most lacklustre rounds of football from a match up viewpoint. Hard to get excited about any of the matches but in keeping with the impossible dream the following results are probably in our interest. Richmond Collingwood Giants Geelong Lions v Hawks... draw Saints Carlton' Eagles
