  1. The challenge this year is to nail our second round pick. Hell... it's almost as high as the first rounder we traded out last year. Last Chance Saloon
  2. wow.... what can one say
  3. Is this the same game to which nobody came
  4. Imagine a game to which no one came
  5. This is almost resignation worthy if you know who has any pride
  6. could this be the usual MFC game in reverse when we start favourites.... Let's bring them down to our level skill wise
  7. think about that......could it be that we are even worse at getting the ball forward
  8. Probably not. Was thinking yesterday that our post bye performance has been more disappointing than our pre bye games. As they say there's always next year but it's starting to wear very thin
  9. Up close the jumpers are readily distinguishable but I agree on the longer shots there is a blending of the various shades of orange. Cannot understand the childish love of AFL clubs for the jumpers. They must be the only sport that has not moved on to having clear clash strips. Hell I saw Liverpool playing recently in a blue strip and no one batted an eyelid.
  10. thought this was the case. Either or both ANB or Stretch should be offered a year. If they walk I'll understand.
  11. Time to go. Such an indictment on our development that in three years we still have a need for him. Has been worth the money. Quite happy to recruit another senior player with a couple of years in them. We just cannot produce our own Boomer Harvey or similar. Mfcss strikes again
  12. Love it... where's Wendy when we need her.
  13. Lot in that Goffy Before there was the Carlton Crew there was the Carlton Presidents club one of the most powerful business networking organizations in Melbourne. Just ask Henry Bosch, former Chairman of the NCSC (the forerunner to ASIC). The China play has little to do with expansion of the game. It is a trade/business play.
  14. Perhaps medical retirement.. done often..simply requires AFL approval and the pay out is mainly outside the cap as I understand it. 7 games in 3 years gets you to first base at the very least.
  15. 35 games in 5 years.. 7 games in the last three years I hope the medical staff are doing a very thorough assessment and not just "hoping for the best." He'll be 28 at the start of next season. Rose coloured glasses spring to mind.
  16. agree KK is the high risk/reward player.. perhaps one more year but I am not qualified to assess the real risk
  17. agree but we have enough risk projects at present. KK, AVB the two Smiths and arguably Stretch. Need to remove three of those before we add another one. Also need to have clear triggers and ability to exit at mid and end season. I suspect these conditions would not be attractive to HB such that he would leave the West. Perhaps we list him and leave him in the WAFL for a few months to find form so if and when he moved east he had a high probability of making the senior team. As you say it's risk and managing the total risk exposure.
  18. Here's a Guardian article on the test venues in England. It was hard to recognize Edgbaston after its renovation. We tend to forget how small their grounds are by comparison to those we have in Oz. "English grounds have never been cavernous – Lord’s is the biggest with a capacity for 28,000 souls. But the upside is that they are easier to fill, and an atmosphere builds quickly. " https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/aug/06/england-ashes-test-grounds-splendour-cricket If in London stroll over to Lords and look at the museum. It may be small but boy there's history not to mention THE urn.
  19. Most of them did including Brad Scott
  20. If football clubs were listed on the exchange they would be all done for misleading the market. It's rather easy to smooth the market... full membership =11points (11 games) and then the partial memberships are weighted accordingly. How many are purchased by sponsors as part of pre-arranged deals. (Suspect NT buys a lot of three game memberships for example.) When we get there we could look at reserved seat revenue etc etc
  21. Must say it was a little disconcerting seeing the boundary advertisements for "Simplicity Crematoriums"
