My guess is that if he kicks 50 plus goals this year he will be signed for around 600k. (2 year deal). Hogan's departure freed up some money on the salary spreadsheet which took a hit last year at the extensions of Tom McDonald and Brayshaw both of which were almost certainly contracted at a higher figure than what we would have budgeted for a year before

Another aspect of last night is that the game allowed the Collingwood defence to sit back around the halfback line. Accordingly when Richmond got the ball and tried to go forward the Collingwood defenders were there ready and waiting. The way to counter Collingwood is to relax the zone slightly. Sure it makes the zone easier to penetrate but it denies the continued uncontested possessions which were allowed to Collingwood. Just need a few turnovers and the Pies game would have looked second rate.

If Cox plays well Collingwood will not be interested. There will be interest from other clubs irrespective of how well he plays. My thoughts are that he will back himself and take a two year deal at around $4-500k and punt on the next deal as his payday.

Agree the chaos game requires possession. If the opposition denies possession there is simply not enough forward forays to kick an adequate score.Last season while we kicked good scores we were relatively inefficient. Great discussion.

Great game.. Cox may be better than I thought Over umpired as usual and to miss that throw on 3/4 time was almost criminal

That is a shock inclusion. Daisy Thomas was never the same after a similar injury. Will be interesting to see how he comes up. Would love to know the real story of that trade.

Big night for the Pies... are they the real deal. Should be a great game... Is it a sellout? West Coast and GWS is another game to watch closely.

so who is Lockhart replacing ? No one saw that one coming I believe.

Joan of Arc to the rescue ?

depends a lot upon whether you back yourself to win the clearance

Casey v Box Hill - Practice Game on Sunday
Diamond_Jim replied to WERRIDEE's topic in Melbourne Demons
suspect the weather (cold and windy) and the lack of a second ruckman for Geelong will go against Keilty's selection. He certainly should have played against Port. His inclusion would come at the exclusion of a mid/half forward or perhaps Fritsch goes down back and Sparrow or Hunt dropped to allow his selection. Certainly will be a difficult selection meeting -
just saw that reported... very sad...RIP Bruce Coached the Sri Lankan team and did many things for cricket after his retirement from playing

the problem is that in these days of multi platforms etc fault diagnosis becomes so hard. Just bought a fancy new soundbar... can get it do everything except play from my TV which is the main reason I bought it. And of course the TV is wall mounted with cables in the brick wall so just changing plugs is almost impossible. Have been learning about HDMI Arc but so far no luck !!!

interesting comment on AVB Goodwin: Aaron vandenBerg is progressing nicely, but his foot is something he will need to manage throughout his career. Perhaps all is not lost

when you stream to your TV are you getting 4k quality (where the show is shot in 4k such as F1) and do you have buffering problems. And one more.. what is your broadband speed. Many thanks

weird but fascinating thread: Werridee..would you like to try for best 22 in round 1 of 2021 Thanks

it matters. Example... training facilities are not within the soft cap although some of the staffing of the training facility is. WB got massive hand outs from the Federal and State governments to develop/upgrade Whitten Oval.

you can subscribe to watch AFL the international service and then get it via a VPN. A clumsy and not cheap result. Would only be marginally cheaper than Kayo. You could change your phone plan to Telstra and then get it free but remember you will be limited to watching on your phone/PC/tablet and no casting to your TV. The release of Kayo starts to make sense of why Foxtel was making such a noise about the Telstra product being cast to TV's last year. BTW the Kayo sub is easily activated and terminated so easy to get just get it for the footy season. (All finals are FTA so you only need it for the home and away season.) Find a friend to split the cost with and you are only paying $12.50 a month.

yes... we are an also ran. Watch out for Geelong.. as I mentioned in the thread re the Geelong stadium deal they are making serious money. Adelaide does very well also.

depends upon what is being broadcast. It does offer 4k but if for example it is the Channel7 AFL feed it may only be HD.

This post was recently made on the whirlpool forum. I am assuming it is quoting the Australian Newspaper Media section. "According to reports in today’s The Australian Media section, AFL boss Gil McLachlan has privately told the code’s top club bosses that he had been approached by (as yet unnamed) global internet and streaming giants that were keen to fork out big bucks to secure the game’s rights....The likes of Amazon Prime and Facebook have spent billions to secure other sports rights around the globe and it’s assumed they’d be the two most likely to make a play" It's long been suggested here on WP that Amazon – at least – would make a play. Besides having the money and the AWS infrastructure already in place, they could also easily offer to push the streaming into other countries. Maybe Foxtel can have the satellite rights and Amazon the streaming rights. Murdoch loves the free market. We'll see how much he likes that one" https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/2791211 Fascinating to say the least and it would be naive to assume that these mega streaming companies aren't at least looking at the AFL. Perhaps we are too small for them to worry.

The electorate of Casey is relatively safe LNP but it has little to do with Casey Fields. It centres more around Belgrave and the Yarra Valley. Pakenham was in the federal district of Mc Millan which has now changed to Monash ( first vote in 2019) but I think only part of Pakenham is now in that electorate. PS.. seems that Pakenham is now in Latrobe... projected LNP margin of 3.5% https://www.abc.net.au/news/elections/federal-redistribution-2018/vic/

worked for a large American corporation. I asked one of the high ups in the States one day... why don't you have an office in Washington DC. Answer... no Senators in DC
-
you may joke OD but I am sure the number crunchers at Essendon, Collingwood and Richmond salivate at owning a stadium between them. It's amazing how the MCG has been able to dictate terms to the AFL and the clubs over the years.

And just to rub it in.. taxpayer funds funded around 75% of the cost of the upgrade to Kardinia Park
