  1. Big game for the Toiges tonight..hoping they can do it Of course the game that has the biggest impact on us is Blues v Doggies and it isn't for the fight to make the finals !!
  2. yep I thought Preuss was a lay down misere for a game in Darwin simply on the basis that had we won (which was not an unreasonable expectation... silly me..) we needed Gawn to be relatively fresh for the QB game.
  3. Agree but I would like to review KK in three more matches. Pity that Casey have a bye just when he and JKH need some match practice.
  4. maybe but that's why you play Preuss especially for the Darwin fiasco
  5. Agree but we need to start winning before we bring in the kids. If we spiral into a second half of say seven more losses I hate to think what will occur to the confidence of this playing group. To think that at season's commencement I thought our list was stronger than that of the Pies.
  6. perhaps we should be offering vintage ports instead. Might just last for the great grandchildren.
  7. KK is at least four games at Casey away from the senior team. Personally I'd give him 6 at Casey and if he performs the last four or so at senior level. Garlett is the tough one. For me he has has another 3-4 games to show he is worth a contract extension. TBH it's hard to judge any of the forwards at present as they are all under performing. Petty needs another two or three games at some stage. We have nothing to lose experimenting with Preuss for a few games. JKH for Viney perhaps if he needs a rest.
  8. Great post... we are lucky in that we have the next ten odd matches during which we should challenge every player not to mention the coaching staff.
  9. the problem in one....hell if I know the solution
  10. You cannot get rid of Maynard, JKH and Stretch unless you want to decimate the mid field depth. One or two need to stay... they are depth
  11. Wouldn't give up on KK. Let's see what the next 6 weeks at Casey show and then perhaps the last three games at senior level if warranted.
  12. Well the positives were that Lever and May appeared to play well and can give us some confidence in the backline. The midfield failed again. I would like to see Oliver reduce his handball numbers and increase his kicking numbers. The goalkicking is a concern but I suspect it's a confidence issue. Petracca is pleasing. Still want to see some gameplan changes. Perhaps the chaos footy is affecting our skill level. There is no denying at this level the footballers are skilled but they may not have the time under this gameplan to execute those skills.
  13. Just a thought but doesn't the co captains issue just double the angst One or none is my theory. It's just an armband.... what's the sanctity of dropping the captain other than it is a admission by the coaching staff that they are not omnipotent. Time to stop being precious about such things.
  14. ok... I'll bite what were the handball to kick ratios of the various players
  15. yeah.. I used to get excited too... ruck dominance ain't what it used to be unless the player dominates around the ground. Mids have grown up playing to the tap whether it be their's or the other teams
  16. not really captaincy has not impacted well on several players at the MFC over the last ten plus years
  17. different times... fifty years ago..... given that we now have ten odd coaches ... what does the captain do ???
  18. yep... the vaunted midfield is not playing well. Perhaps ban Oliver from hand balling for an occasional quarter or two
  19. yep.. no need for any pressure... btw why does one need a captain.... seriously
  20. I think I've found our new social club site.... https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/poor-man-s-racehorses-iconic-yarraville-pigeon-clubhouse-to-be-sold-20190609-p51w0b.html When John Saggers was a boy in the 1960s, pigeons were the "poor man's racehorse". It seemed to him that every second household in the Yarraville area kept them, and fathers taught their sons how to race them. There were no computers, and some houses didn’t even have TV, so people spent time outside, be it tending chooks or shooting rabbits. So he is sad to announce that the club's modest but local landmark hall of 96 years, in Regent Street, will be sold. At its peak in 1950, the club had more than 60 members. It now has just eight. Its expenses, including rates and insurance, are about $3000 a year compared to an income of $1000. We are disappointed but we can no longer afford to keep it,’’ Mr Saggers said. ‘‘It means an era closes.’’
  21. Good post Macca but the AFL need to take the public along with it. They should make it clear what will and won't be accepted ...implement a warning period which could include publicising (without names) the types of behavior they deemed inappropriate and then move to ejection. The AFL practice will inevitably flow down to the lower leagues. There is also the question of whether remarks deemed inappropriate against umpires should also be regarded as inappropriate if made against a player or a team. Perhaps we need a committee that could appoint a taskforce and then move onto a summit followed by a plebiscite.
  22. Pies by 30 plus unless they kick inaccurately and we do the reverse.
  23. GB may have his Brownlow invite cancelled not to mention his lifetime Disney pass
  24. Not the most impressive start from the Matildas.... was looking forward to a little dynamite and it was a quiet fizzer. Early days and let's hope they can find form... reminded me of the MFC game plan not to mention Ange's... push forward and bugger the counter attack.
  25. the famous case is about catching the ferry from Circular Quay. There's another one about a spectator that enters a tourist mine and then wants to turn around without paying.... (They're the false imprisonment cases) For this one we have the "ticket cases" perhaps of which there are many... Is not calling the umpire a %^&&^ a condition of entry and has it been made clear before entry. Finally we have the issue of whether he was restrained or was it volountary.... I sense a new question on the law exams at our local Unis ?
