As you say.... some punishments are best borne alone.

2020 Assistant Coach Prospects: The Next Batch
mmm.... so fake news is an opinion you do not agree with Interesting.. let's just finish it there thanks

Jon Patton
Interesting comments in that article on the money he is prepared to accept. "He has one more year on a lucrative deal that will effectively be torn up and replaced by what is likely a two-year deal at the Hawks. Instead of that huge salary he would secure a deal on or around the average AFL salary of $360,000 a season." Any club including MFC would be mad not to match that deal. There must be something else in the package that the Hawks are offering. Care to expand Redleg

2020 Assistant Coach Prospects: The Next Batch
would you like to explain why you consider it fake? It would be a natural consideration for any incoming assistant.

2020 Assistant Coach Prospects: The Next Batch
Tough job in the assistant role. They don't get the golden parachutes (security of tenure) that goes with being the head coach as they are mainly on year to year contracts. Nothing unusual in that as a lot of the work force has similar security of tenure but their alternative employment opportunities are limited. There are only so many private schools that can afford full time coaches. Good luck to them all. It's very important that they all leave with the feeling that they can walk back in and have a coffee etc in the future.

Billy Stretch Appreciation Thread
Hard to pick. With Maynard and JKH going (presumably) you would think Stretch would survive as depth. His proneness to injury concerns me given the other three or four fringe players we have in the same boat. And of course there's is ANB who is out of contract. Having watched him many times at VFL level while he often racks up the possessions a la JKH I cannot recall seeing him have a major impact on a game. Sure he gives drive etc etc but game busting plays.. no. I think it will all come down to both the trade season and who we draft as to whether he remains as number 1 depth. Going forward I cannot see him ever getting beyond that 20-30 ranking

Would like to say I am going to enjoy the Ashes but with our luck in the umpire review stakes it is just giving me another dose of MFCSS.

2020 Assistant Coach Prospects: The Next Batch
IIRC it is about now that assistant coaches are told if their contract will be renewed. The practice was bought in a few years back to enable the coaches to seek alternative employment at other clubs in an orderly and timely fashion. On a cynical note any assistant will be weighing up the pros and cons of hitching their wagon to the Goodwin star. (Unless of course they think they will get the caretaker gig post bye.... politics is tough even or especially in a footy club.)

The Ashes - 2019
got him at last... only 57 Need another wicket before tea and then a strong last session Can't let them get a hundred or so lead

The Ashes - 2019
nah... Root is on his way to 100 batsmen of his calibre thrive on luck.

The Ashes - 2019
There was big controversy during the World Cup with the flashing bails not dislodging. Perhaps the same maker. Four missed reviews by the Aussies and the two by England work in their favour. We are not having the luck.

Goody Presser (2/8)
"deckchairs" spring to mind

Richmond VFL v Casey Demons - Round 18
On a placement for his next job perhaps Seriously if he has something more pressing I could see them allowing some quiet time off/ early departure.

Round 20 Non MFC Games
problem is there aren't many teams that we are likely to beat on this year's form. Playing Freo twice and therefore having two.. did we do the right thing by trading Hogan ... games would not be good for those of us wanting to move on. Imagine double games against Hogan, Watts and even Kent with each playing their seasonal best.

The Ashes - 2019
nah....could be a looooong series TBH I thought the idea of having the Australia A team over there to get used to conditions etc would be a good one but no luck so far.

PREGAME: Rd 20 vs Richmond
Jetta out... I know his form has not been great but I hadn't seen him on the injured list Hore as an emergency is strange Tim Smith... injured again... surely that is the end Great to see JKH getting a game

Sam Frost - Contract status
Point taken however I would like to think that his ranking this year reflects our terrible form rather than his underlying ability.
-
Sam Frost - Contract status
A few clubs might be thinking they can fix his disposal and in that case he becomes a valuable "rebounding defender". In these days that's a rather important player. MFCSS just keeps on reminding me that we never seem to get these re-signings right from a value proposition basis. Jeff Garlett on his last contract renewal comes to mind among others. Makes decisions like that we are said to be making on the Nathan Jones contract all the more important.
-
Sam Frost - Contract status
At the start of the year he would have been regarded as around 18-28 in the rankings. I suspect he has now moved to the 14-18 bracket. We seem to be having this problem with a few players not necessarily having linear development.. ie Brayshaw and Tom Mac. Nice problem to have IF they continue on the upward cycle. With improvement in his disposal Frost has the ability to get to the 10-14 bracket.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
that's definitely worth thinking about

Sam Frost - Contract status
Frost.... another outlier for the salary cap spreadsheet. Thankfully it should not be too much. The interesting one is the term. I like two but he might be angling for 3 with a raise.

Injury List - Season 2019
There is a process for medically based retirements. It requires the approval of the AFL. The advantage is that the pay out is treated favourably under the salary cap. Sydney may try to run this angle with Buddy's retirement which could cloud the waters for other applicants this year.
