  1. 2021 could be anything given crowd restrictions. In a normal season your points are valid save that by Feb 1 the international cricket is generally finished. State and lesser cricket would be moved. Heat would be a real issue and you would imagine only night games until mid March. AFL would have no problems with extending their season into the earlier parts of the Spring Carnivals with the GF being played mid October is my guess. My biggest concern is that with a longer season it gives even greater exposure and revenues to the power clubs. As a simple example membership prices could go up by one third on the basis of more home games. With twice our membership Richmond has double the increment we receive. Same goes for reserved seat sales which fora club like Adelaide is almost the whole stadium. Simply being compensated by AFLhandouts is not enough as we will be merely entrenching ourselves as an also ran finance wise.Lots of things for Pert and the Board to work on
  2. Interesting to see how Cricket Oz and Channel 7 are having a real stoush: https://www.theage.com.au/sport/cricket/seven-moves-towards-terminating-450-million-cricket-australia-deal-20200911-p55unt.html#comments
  3. I refuse to answer such a hypothetical question ?
  4. Nic Nat threatens to take the ball and kick it. Makes it much harder to predict and defend. Gives their mids just that little more space Gawn in the ruck tends to be traditional and predictable. Jackson rucks Nic Nat style so fingers crossed
  5. The MFC tease continues. How will it end ?
  6. wow... where do we sign Forget the pick... even finding another club to pick up his full contract would be a win
  7. Agree... he is one of the few good players that is any way surplus. If we can use the pick and salary savings to trade for a good outside mid it's a win for both sides. Saad is the other player who comes to mind but is he what we need most
  8. Perhaps the lower tier(VFLor whatever they call it) could be 16 v 16. It would reduce costs and trial the concept. The lack of scoring this year has been a real problem. Perhaps reduce the team to 21 (18 +3) and limit the rotations.
  9. 28 still leaves room for manipulated blockbusters that will see MFC disadvantaged. 34 games or a rolling fixture 2020 was a simple 17 game fixture yet even then the AFL played with it so the power clubs got the ratings sponsors etc Happy as long as we negotiate a level playing field. This could be our last chance.
  10. Dogs have played several times in Cairns over the years just to add to the equation. Can we..yes Will we...no The question really is .. will we even win another game?
  11. Looking at the alternatives of 5 weeks in the Qld hub vs a possibility of two must be tempting. Sure it comes at the cost of a four game finals comp v a possible 3 with a double chance but given the fluctuations in Eagles performance when in a long term foreign hub...............
  12. Eagles originally asked for the game against North to be played in Perth. They shaped the playing field and got the compromise of the Thursday fixture.
  13. Looking a lot better this morning. Last night the right hand highlights section was taking up almost half my screen. Now it looks back to normal size. Thanks
  14. A very brutal screen with far too much dominance of the various updates on the right of the screen which IIRC were at the bottom of the page. Good luck but sorry don't like it.
  15. Not much use screaming about this now Mc Guire etc would have been on the front foot weeks in advance with a well orchestrated media run. Hell if we had known, crowd funding would have paid for the flight. Amateur club = !!!!
  16. Eagles loss last round combined with Tigers win means no top 4 for them. The plus is that 5 or 6 gets them their first final in Perth. Fourth would see them play all finals outside Perth. I think they are content with going home to Perth for almost three weeks and then return to Brisbane or even better Adelaide for the second round of the finals as compared to five more weeks post end of the home and away in the Qld hub. Their last game for the home and away season is on Thursday night which means they will comfortably make the two week WA quarantine. Of course their competitor is another matter
  17. To me it has been a push and switch style followed by the usual bomb to the pocket. Other than it rarely working I've never thought of it as defensive but who knows. To beat GWS you usually need a high tackling close checking team
  18. Didn't watch the GWS game last night but I have watched them several times. In general the teams that are successful against them force the game to be played around the boundary line and deny room to the outside runners by blocking the corridor. It makes for an ugly game but so be it. Will Goodwin back his usual gameplan or go defensive.
  19. why are they doing this to us. I was well into my annual grief management process !!!
  20. Hawthorn are probably looking to move on from Clarkson but are naturally concerned by his payout. There's a deal to be done here if we play our cards right. Mind you MFC are not known for their negotiating ability
  21. He's a third tall forward and our master coach has variously played him as a backman and a lone forward. Like most on our list has actually gone backwards each year
  22. It will be a farewell match for so many
  23. 2020 At least we beat Collingwood I'm off now
  24. Bad as we have been by a miracle we are still in it,
