POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
Other than umpiring I have not seen much analysis of why we could not better a winless team with multiple outs for the first three quarters. Was it Adelaide going for a win in that last quarter that gave us just that little bit of time and space. The last quarter blitz papered over some concerns I suspect. IIRC at 3/4 time inside 50's were close so it wasn't the usual ping pong problem.

The Way Gawn is Umpired
Clarkson has shown that public commentary gets results. Not every club has an Eddie that can change hats like face masks. Of course we will probably be fined. It's the lot of the MFC.

CHANGES: Rd 11 vs North Melbourne
snake oil we used to think Misson was the guru The drover's dog could tell you Gawn needed a rest. Stupid me thought that was why they played T Mac against Port but no MFC only know one style.

My 3 word player analysis V Adelaide
Brayshaw.... won the game (His last quarter performance was why he is in the team... it was a little more than putting in an appearance) Tomlinson.... why draft him

Dee's Finances
Hard to believe given how difficult it is to even pay out permanently injured players eg KK without impacting the cap. Of course it could be like GCS where the pay out to Eade was effectively AFL money and thus the soft cap tax is going in and out of the same pockets.

Fixture 2020 (COVID Edition)
AFL to move to fixturing one week at a time. Guess who will come out badly as a result The league will only release details of the remaining fixture in weekly instalments and not in a block of rounds due to changing state border restrictions and COVID-19 quarantine rules. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/afl-in-a-fix-taking-it-one-week-at-a-time-20200804-p55ijd.html

Dee's Finances
Spot on LH and that is why we can't pay him out unless we take on a rookie coach who is prepared to work cheap for the first few years. This is what Norf did with Shaw and Scott I suspect but there it was only a one year pay out whereas we face two plus for the first year Shaw was temporary IIRC.

Any island in mind. Perhaps scrap the footy and have them all in an island based reality TV show.

Lloyd: Trade Oliver or Brayshaw
ok the Hogan trade (not the May recruitment) worked out ok but, like Hogan, Oliver is a generational player. Prefer to get rid of Goodwin a long time before Oliver and others are sacrificed to save a mediocre coach We've almost wasted Gawn .... lets burn another

COVID Breaches by Clubs Could Derail Season
How was this not in breach of covid rules. The start date for community contact sport was never reached I thought. https://www.afl.com.au/news/480707/-this-was-an-oversight-powerful-player-agent-fined-for-draft-camp-breach "POWERFUL player agent Paul Connors has been sanctioned for running a camp for prospective players against draft rules. The AFL Players Association Agent Accreditation Board slapped Connors with a $7500 fine ($5000 suspended) on Tuesday night. As reported by AFL.com.au, more than 20 players eligible for the 2020 and 2021 NAB AFL Drafts completed a two-day camp in Sorrento during the school holidays last month."

TEAMS: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
Agree.. the backline was starting to look stable other than one spot (Jetta/Rivers etc) Perhaps the problem is that they aren't getting any drive off the backline from the existing bunch and thus Tomlinson

TEAMS: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
Can someone remind me what position Tomlinson was recruited for? Very short sighted not to rest Max

Lloyd: Trade Oliver or Brayshaw
No unless the something were a low first round... (wait a minute we had one of those ??)
-
Lloyd: Trade Oliver or Brayshaw
No way for Oliver... Brayshaw as you say will get you around pick 25 or as a trade an 8-16 ranked player in another team. The latter is more likely if another team has a need. There is also the problem of his salary. Performance wise he's overpaid. Although I would hate to see it Viney might get us more

Rising Stars vs the Dees
the median looks around 17. To be an outlier (27) to that extent is as usual damning. While we may have lost to also give a leg up to first year talent....

Gawn In Doubt for Crows?
Obviously need to rest players. Seriously if we can't beat the Crows with a few players being rested we are worse than I think we are. North and Collingwood are the tests for those who think there is still life in this season.

The Rest of the Season
Yep I have come to accept that Goodwin isn't going anywhere. My fatalist acceptance means he has to reinvent himself. Snagging a few wins this year doesn't excite me. Would prefer to see a path. That doesn't mean not winning or simply playing the kids. Rather it means pushing this list to see what we have. Anyway there's a lot more to concern ourselves with this year than the perennial failure of the MFC.

Deep Dive into Dees Issues
we have known that for the last 12 months and it was re enforced in Round 1 after which he had a three month break and then in rounds 2 and 3 etc he doubles down with his small forward line. Not sure this guy is capable of learning If you want to look at two contrasting examples look how Hardwick played with a young team by slowing the game down against the dogs and keeping his two key talls deep forward. Against Port (ladder leader and fast team) we just go business as usual.

Fixture 2020 (COVID Edition)
And now SA has a few cases... football crowds under review Was watching the Storm game yesterday played at a small stadium on the Sunshine Coast. The grass terraces were packed with people basking in the winter sunshine. Looked very pleasant. Article in the papers today about perhaps too many. https://www.theage.com.au/national/queensland/crowd-size-and-social-distancing-under-review-after-sunshine-coast-nrl-game-20200803-p55hvy.html And it seems that NT may not be ideal https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-08-03/coronavirus-fears-prompts-fresh-calls-to-close-uluru-to-tourists/12517726 The Mutitjulu Community Aboriginal Corporation (MCAC) is so worried about the potential spread of coronavirus through inter-state visitors that members of the group have started to blockade an entrance to the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park today.

Northern Territory Games
Brilliant.. I'm trying to think of some wonderful name for the extravaganza of football in the red centre. We could even have a song sung to the tune of Living next door to Alice

NON MFC: Round 09
Dear Foory Fan I have appointed an inquiry to consider this issue. It would not be appropriate for me to comment publicly in advance of that inquiry. Respectfully Yours Gil
