  1. Agree but like the NRL we simply have too many teams in the one city. The next TV rights deal is due in 2-3 years which could deliver a seismic shift between the have and have not clubs. Around 3k apparently at today's Hawks v Dogs in Launceston according to ABC radio
  2. one year more I'm okay with that kind of list management. Second level back up. Baker might leave in search of greener pastures. Have no idea as to whether we will give M Brown another year but probably not. Majak is also nice insurance until a decision is made on Bradtke.
  3. How about this as a deal for North: All future North home games at Marvel and all away games (proceeds to North) in Tasmania. Strict rotation of away games between the other 17 clubs. North based in Melbourne with commitment to relocation of staff and training facility to Tasmania in seven years or sooner. North to play home based finals in Melbourne/Tasmania on an odd and even year basis.
  4. and the key leak.... Channel Seven reported on Thursday night that the Carter report did not recommend a start-up 19th team, saying there was no business case for expansion because it wouldn’t add television dollars, and that it would require relocation or a club deal to play home games in Tasmania.
  5. The hand of God strikes again !!
  6. SA have added another 14 days of quarantine to the Olympic athletes quarantining in Sydney https://www.theage.com.au/sport/aoc-lashes-sa-for-imposing-28-day-quarantine-on-returning-olympians-20210811-p58hxp.html
  7. That criteria is met by around 70% of the adult returnees to Australia but we still insist upon 14 days hotel quarantine. The risk equation is set to as close to zero as they can make it especially in WA. FWIW I'd put all finals teams in Perth and decide game venues on a weekly basis with reference to border closures.
  8. The 1 goal 6 in the last quarter against GCS was inexcusable. No pressure and perfect conditions indoors with no crowds. IIRC 3 shots hit the post. That is almost worse than missing in that it showed no allowance for a margin of error.
  9. Herd immunity is fast being called out as a myth due to vaccinated persons while very safe from hospitalisations being able to be infected. So it's vaccinate or perish for those in the older anti vax category. The discussion is now centering on child vaccines and I'm increasingly of the view that the goalposts for the next phase may move from 70 and 80% of the adult population to 70 and 80% of the entire population. On a similar note I'm resigned to no significant opening of overseas borders before third quarter 2022 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/aug/10/delta-variant-renders-herd-immunity-from-covid-mythical
  10. Pleasant weather for MCG Sunday afternoon football predicted 17 degrees, light winds and virtually no rain

I'm a big believer in Smith being our medical sub during the finals. If a mid goes down they can be better covered than a KPP.
  12. Adelaide looms a la Collingwood of 2017
  13. you have to be kidding
  14. sounds like the game will continue (ABC radio)
  15. that storm is nearly passed It will be touch and go http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR703.loop.shtml
  16. 10:53... we win
  17. 2021 is just that kind of year !
  18. Judging by the weather radar it will take at least 30mins for the storm clouds to pass
  19. has been only 1m of rain in Perth since 9am. There's a decent shower on the radar that should hit around 7:15pm Melbourne time but after that there is not much rain on the way. The earlier strong winds seem to have died down to at most a stiff breeze (22km) May not be as wet as some think http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR702.loop.shtml#skip
  20. other than the non competing clubs which is probably one thousand or so light that sounds about right for a fifty thousand crowd. Get ready however for a bit of guilting by the big corporates who may not wish to be seen taking away seats from those more deserving and of course we will get a frontline workers allocation
  21. There's some very early reports suggesting this variant might pose the vaccines a problem. Fingers crossed for otherwise.
  22. Starting to see the Lambda (South America) version in Asia and the Epsilon (Pakistan) is popping up in USA. What fun.
  23. Lions showing us how to get the job done in the West. The weekend's results have opened up an incredible rails run to top spot.
  24. wow o wow that rails run to top has just opened up. Are we good enough to take the opportunity?
  25. 700k at a biker rally in Sturgis South Dakota. What could possibly go wrong. https://apnews.com/article/lifestyle-health-coronavirus-pandemic-south-dakota-sd-state-wire-b729c1e92cb7e0f74c12343c483f9474 The Black Hills of South Dakota roared with motorcycles and crowds Friday as the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally kicked off, with mostly mask-less rallygoers packed shoulder-to-shoulder at bars and rock shows, despite a rise in COVID-19 cases in the state. Organizers expect at least 700,000 people during the 10-day event that is a rendezvous for bikers, who connect over their love for motorcycles. For some, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime goal to make it to Sturgis; others faithfully make the pilgrimage year after year. “It’s just a great big family atmosphere, everybody’s out here for the same purpose — we all love motorcycles,” said Aaron Harper. “If you’re a motorcyclist, you have to see it at least once in your life.”
