COVID & AFL 2021
Anna P aka the Saviour of the AFL....amazing Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk received the Pfizer vaccine in Brisbane on Monday, after criticism she had been left behind by other state leaders who already had their jabs. Despite being in the recommended age group for the AstraZeneca vaccine - people aged 50 or older - Ms Palaszczuk received the Pfizer jab due to her coming overseas travel plans. https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/queensland/queensland-premier-gets-pfizer-covid-vaccine-in-brisbane-20210607-p57yng.html

Out of interest were they mixing in a bit of "canned crowd noise" on Friday night. The background murmuring etc just sounded fake at times. The scoring reactions sounded accurate.

VOTES: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
6 is the highest. Have a go. It's fun. I do it after watching the replay and don't look at how others have voted until I've posted. I find most agree on the top 2 (if in a different order) but from there on in it can be interesting.

COVID & AFL 2021
I sit here planning alternative routes between Pakistan and Egypt. All of them seem to go via the various city States of the Middle East. This trip will be the most researched I've ever done if I ever do it. Like you vaccinated four weeks ago. My free travel tip is Moscow...inexpensive and drop dead tourist stuff with great easy to use public transport. People are great (Dubai- Moscow for a week- Western Europe.. London/Paris etc)

COVID & AFL 2021
Does it get better OD ... Today's case includes a teacher from the school where a child from the Jervis Bay travellers went to. Linked but a potentially wide vector from a spread viewpoint.

Is Jack Viney an automatic inclusion?
By the time he is eligible to play it will be around 8 weeks without match practice. I tend towards one game in the VFL. If it had only been 2-3 weeks out a definite yes.

Serious analysis required of the relative benefits to the MFC of a Bulldogs loss/win today against Freo. On balance (but only just) I tend towards the wingman theory where it is safer having the Dogs play interference against Brisbane in the top two stakes. For those who think we will remain ladder leaders having Brisbane second when commencing the finals series is not a bad outcome perhaps So enjoyable being on top of the ladder on merit but the permutations are such unchartered waters for me at least.

GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
needs to switch it up to give then some hope Always thought thay would beat us if they kicked with reasonable accuracy. The challenge is to keep it as a "close loss"

sounds like the old sell the one section trick that has become an AFL artform this year

What they are saying down at Vulture Street
Brisbane supporters are Northern skiers. Most only turn up when the team is winning. Given how badly the Broncos are performing this year and last I suspect the Lions are getting decent media coverage in Brisbane.

GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
if only... Bulldogs made it relatively easy for us last week by playing the switch and boundary line game in an effort to deny Lever and May the easy ball. Not sure Lions will make the same mistake. If they can run it quickly and go over Lever we are vulnerable. Player for player they have a more reliable forward line. My guess is that it will come down to goal accuracy.

COVID & AFL 2021
all comes down to the total revenue/stadium deal. Geelong reportedly make more from playing at Kardinia Park in front of 35k than playing at the MCG with a crowd of 55k. Peggy O'Neil (Richmond President) said on ABC radio that Essendon were very happy with the financial result of playing at Optus this weekend. Perhaps time for the MCG Trust to get into the bidding war.

COVID & AFL 2021
Typically sponsorship agreements have all the triggers you speak about plus of course a base level. The triggers are limited only by your imagination and negotiating skills. Finals are an obvious kicker. Ash Barty would be interesting. Her agreements would almost certainly include kickers for being number 1 in the rankings. As rankings were suspended for 2020 and she didn't play was she paid? Years ago I saw a number 1 golfer's deal and the kickers went for many pages. I suspect that the Formula 1 deals would be volume like. PS the world of digital platforms has of course widened measurement of "success goals" greatly. On a related note I would like to know to see some discussion of clubs assuming full control of their own websites.

COVID & AFL 2021
I was surprised by the 7 day lockdown extension. I thought it would be until Sunday night with an announcement on Saturday. If today and tomorrows figures are low we might see some easing. For the QB game I would take the bye and then play the game the following week. Jaded's suggestion of Saturday night sounds sensible

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND: DANIEL TURNER
I read that players were able to specify a minimum 2 season deal in place of the usual 6 months. Any idea of the length of contract for these two draftees.

Dees Bracing for Big Financial Hit
the clubs get paid a little for each finals match. Basically enough to make the additional match payments due to players and staff as I understand it. There was a move to icrease the GF prize money years ago but it came to nothing as it went against the equalisation policy. Where clubs make money is with merchandising. $100 to get a picture of yourself holding the Premiership cup etc etc. The additional revenue to a big club such as Richmond dwarfs that which say the Bulldogs received
