2019 Player Reviews: #26 Sam Weideman
Fair call McKay, Curnow and Hipwood all look more promising
-
Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)
What is there not to like? I know 3 mins of highlights is a very small sample BUT - can kick - can mark - not a whimp - can tackle Most on our list don't all 4 of those boxes
-
Phantom Drafts
Flanders highlights are not great - looks pretty slow and his kicking isn't great - a big no from me Young on the other hand is a great option

2019 Player Reviews: #28 Oscar McDonald
Rather fortunate to still have a spot on the list - hopefully can improve significantly in 2020 Definitely behind May, Lever, Petty and probably Hore for mine Probably kept his spot due to the movement of Frost who offered more atm IMO
-
Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
I actually think Spargo is a good footballer - he seems to read the play well and generally makes the most of his limited possessions - kicking penetration is an obvious area to try and improve He played the small forward role in his first season because he didn't have the tank to run midfield If he can build his endurance and cope with extended time in the midfield I think he can be more than useful

Lachlan Ash (Drafted by Fremantle)
Has some nice attributes but he reminded me a bit of a short Sam Frost TBH. The other players he reminds me of is Daniel Bell for some reason Likes to run and carry but sometimes didn't look like it was to his or the teams advantage - also disposal was a bit hit and miss Small sample so I'm sure the recruiters know a hell of a lot more - personally would think he is a better option than Serong

AFL Players Without Contracts
I really don't think he is AFL standard - I'm confident Geelong and Brisbane feel the same way

AFL Players Without Contracts
Josh Walker is a definite no for me
-
Josh Bruce
He has a handy highlights reel, can take a decent mark, fairly quick, doesn't mind a bit of rough and tumble, can kick the odd bag of goals Light on for these qualities at MFC not sure if we were keen but seems like we missed a chance here - I'm not convinced the Weed will ever amount to much - really hope he proves me wrong next year

Jack Steven
Could of been a handy pick up for MFC if you ask me - no idea what his state of mind is but a change of scenery might do wonders and we sure could do with some pace - he has that there is no doubt

Gone from Saints to Cats for pick 58 ? A 4x B&F gone for pick 58 ? Seems a bargain to me

Josh Mahoney in the Media
Is Weightman worth a top 10 pick? - last time I checked he was ranked in the late 20's Not saying he is or isn't - would be interested to hear others views who have actually seen him play Would have to be something very special to use a top 10 pick given his size

Farewell Sam Frost
We are making a big bet on two players (Lever not key position IMO and May) that have spent very little time out on the ground - hope they can play most games next year otherwise I'm not sure our back line stocks are that flash Perhaps the club rates Petty as a better 2 to 3 year prospect than Frost - OMac well the least said the better

Jamie Elliott
According to Michael Gleeson Age he has ruled out MFC - onwards and upwards !

POSTMATCH: Rd 15 vs Brisbane
The saddest part about this season and the pathetic demise is that it really comes as no surprise such is the nature of this football club. They collectively just have no capacity to compete for long enough to win games on a regular basis, believe their own BS afar too often and are not a serious threat to anything other than the wooden spoon

Time to go Oscar!
It’s a team sport and games are generally not won or lost by the performance of one individual irrespective of whether they play well or poorly However, anyone who has played any team sport before will know that when certain people fail to do what most consider to be the basics at a reasonable standard it is demoralising for the team - missed goals from very gettabke positions - avoiding contact because it’s easier not to - getting beaten in one on ones too easily etc .... we see this regularly with our current team and that is the reason we are where we are at on the ladder

PREGAME: Rd 08 vs Gold Coast
On exposed form season to date they win this
- Ablett wins appeal. System is broken

Set shot goalkicking
Both Melk and Trac and pretty gifted and skilful players - we see that time and time again particularly with field kicking However their set shot goal kicking is really poor. I can’t recal the game last year but Melk basically played on and kicked around his body from about 20m almost in front - when he had the option to simply go back settle and kick a drop punt I think the problem is not only between the ears but also technically they are far better when moving - Tracs set shot yesterday showed his ball drop was terrible - way too high and lacked control into the boot i guess no easy or quick fix but I hope both are getting plenty of individual coaching on addressing this in the interim maybe get a Fritter or Harmes to run past and take shots on the run

Sam Weideman + contract
Very, and we all know why - if he was getting a few kicks and slotting some goals it would be a different story
-
Jon Patton
No he has a bad knee - reliable source and can’t kick

Making the finals
Really ?? I don’t think so on what basis have you formed that view ? Just taking the p(ss I assume

CASEY DEMONS V RICHMOND VFL
I certainly wasn't saying he is ready nor was I suggesting he should be an automatic selection in the senior side - far from it However, I do see potential and I do think he has more chance to succeed than some others Only time will tell - what I will say is that I have seen enough of Charlie to know he won't die wondering
