  1. What They are Saying at Freo - Round 4: I haven't include Jackson comments as there is little point 'death riding' him. And excluded those quoted by earlier posters. There is a lot of repetition so here are typical comments: Bigfooty: We will be lucky to win 5 games. 27 years and I am seriously just about done with this club. I honestly am. you'll be back haha And I’m ready to call it. JLo’s time is up, the players are lost. The drums need to be pounding for JLO. This can‘t go on, and Bell needs to be held accountable. It's amazing how every single one of our players have regressed this year. Pffft, I've got no more vents left And we have ****ed our draft hand this year on a ******* unicorn Unicorns aren't real 😭 Pearce is a disgrace, lucky to keep his spot let alone lead the team. Team selection is rubbish…Plan is rubbish…List management is rubbish…Just generally rubbish. Coach, players with a few exceptions all playing like they are on heroin. We didn't actually do anything last year, our players clearly drank their own bath water over the off season Our off-season is starting to look like a club killer. Got rid of players we need, sold the farm for one we don't and left ourselves with 2 empty drafts Peter Bell is a club killer. Refusing to budge on Acres when it would've cost us so little in the scheme of things, not signing Logue early on. So smug with everything he does it pisses me off. All the other teams do this weird thing where they have space in their forward line and they kick the ball in front of someone who is actually moving so they can mark it on the lead. Can't relate.... Ironically today i got an AFL easter egg with the cutout ladder you can build on the side of the box? May as well put freo straight on the bottom...Just for those following who will get Harley Reid. While hawks are firm favourites, so are Melbourne....who have the Dockers’ future first-round pick and the Dockers’ future second-round pick because of jackson. Sold farm. We're ******. Kill me now. If that eventuates, there's no coming back.
  2. I'll post regular updates in this thread to avoid two threads on the same subject running simultaneously.
  3. We could easily end up with something close to pick 3 this year+ Jefferson (2022 #13) + 2023 #23 to #26! Reckon Freo had pencilled in being 6/0 or 5/1 in the first part of the season. They won't get even close. Then the tough draw starts!! Happy days!!🙃
  4. I came across this in the WCE threads: Did Fremantle sign the giant West Australian because he aided their flag push, or did their vision of unicorns and a desire to keep him from becoming Nic Naitanui’s successor cloud their pursuit of a maiden premiership? Interesting article. I think it's a bit early to write Jackson off but my key takeaway was: "But instead, they have dished up two uninspiring losses to sides who didn’t make finals last season, including the wooden spooners, and took three and half quarters to break an Eagles side with no bench and injured players forced to play on. It’s nice to win, but it shouldn’t dampen the purple army’s alarm bells." A good summary, imv. This train has a long way to go, no need to jump off at this stage. Freo have a tough fixture with double up games vs Brisbane, Geelong, Hawthorn, Sydney, West Coast, Western Bulldogs and all bar WCE yet to be played. imv Freo is already out of top 4 contention and I still think they will struggle to make the 8.
  5. No need to worry. I'm sure the club has it all under control and we will see new contracts for who we want to keep rolled out in the coming months. Based on recent media McVee's and Rivers' contracts are in discussion, Jordon has put off negotiations and Kozzie's contract is looking encouraging. Chandler turned down offers from Adelaide two years ago so doubt he will go anywhere else now. Its interesting that there is no news on Neal-Bullen. He is an Unrestricted Free Agent so can go to a club of his choice if he chooses. I don't mind if we lose some players be they in or out of contract as we need to find room for the up and comers. This will mean some established players will find new homes. C'est la vie for a club with good drafting, excellent development and on field success.
  6. We have a mid season draft. A club can put a player on the Long-term injury list to create a list spot. Can't see the need to have mid season player trades as well. Also, as Beveridge says an AFL season is like a war of attrition and lists need to be managed accordingly.
  7. On topic: Have always lived 'Bayside'. Can't remember how or why I follow the mighty dees!! I always have. And, always will. From a simple google search I came across this, from a decade ago...not sure if accurate: For our old zones (based on local goverment city boundaries): metro: Cities of Melbourne (part), Prahran, Caulfield (part), Moorabin (part), Mordialloc, Springvale (part), Chelsea, Shires of Bulla, Whittlesea (part) country: Golburn Valley and Mid-Murray Pretty sure we recruited the Healy brothers from the Mordialloc 'region'.
  8. For the flip side of that story. My recently stolen, much loved car, was found abandoned all smashed up, in Maribynong - a looong, looong way from home. 😢 Apparently involved in a some 'really bad things' (quote from Footscray police). Also, the thieves, used up a chunk of my etag and racked up nearly $1,000 of traffic fines in just the first 24 hours. Then they changed the number plates so the police couldn't detect it on the roads.
  9. Not a lot new to add from bigfooty: Yeo to be named on the extended bench to keep Melbourne guessing for a day, but to play WAFL It'll probably be a 10 to 15 goal hiding so I don't think there's any point rushing older blokes back in… These young blokes need to see first hand a hardened and seriously fit team go at it. Naitanui to be a surprise inclusion this week. You heard it here first. If only just to stand there and help avoid giving away 6/6/6 free kicks There is a positive, this season will be impacted but for the long term we can focus on list building and testing players. Common sense says I should be thoroughly [censored] off with our turn of fortune on the weekend but surprisingly, I'm not. Our young fellas show promise and there's still a bunch yet to debut, so the future looks bright. For those piling s*it on the medical and S and C staff, grow up and and channel your anger and disappointment in some other manner. Take off your poo-coloured glasses and take solace in the fact that we would have beaten the Dockers last Sunday if we hadn't lucked out. Bring on Melbourne and hope for a good showing, it ain't gonna be easy but that's the way it should be! Ginbey on some loser called Viney Jesus christ, Viney weighs as much most big bodied midfielders and yet +10cm shorter than em Have an advert keep popping up on Facebook, video from the eagles advertising upcoming game, featuring, all the blokes who won’t be playing 😕 think we can win this one now Brown is out. I don't mind the look of the team other than the HFF. We're going to need our tall forwards to kick us to victory. Yep, Brown the only thing holding WCE back from defeating Melbourne. My favourite: Hawks may have some competition for #1 pick in the draft: Tanktical™ Match Committee We will win!
  10. A nasty lot at Reddit, eh? That is why they are on my 'dance on grave' list. I recall when they beat us in 2019 the players sang their song with a nasty insult to us at the start. Its one thing for fans to be nasty but the players... They deserve all that they are going thru. It is looking like they were satisfied with their premiership and it has all gone downhill since. From bigfooy:
  11. She has an amazing ability to 'sell the dummy', side step and find space sometimes all at once. Even in our game where players can tackle they may not be able to catch her too often.
  12. Well, if you give me the Jayden cut out you'll have room for the Langdon graphic, no? 🙃🙂🙃 Re Max's 200; missing 4 games gets him there in round 24, missing 6 would be in the second final. Unless he misses more weeks I have no doubt he will reach the much deserved 200 this year. We won the premiership on Viney's 150th so yeah, Max's 200 in a GF would be extra sweet.
  13. We can ask but it is a bit early for Santa...😢 Yes, very sad that we hold the dubious honour of the two biggest losing margins... This week I wish for a good game, bank the 4 points and have no injuries.
  14. I forgot about that. Happy for a good win this week.
  15. ... I thought we lost by 186 to Geelong? Either 187 or 188, I would love someone else to have the largest losing margin record - couldn't think of a better team than the Eagles.
  16. Agreed. Geelong, Eagles and Blues have been the guilty ones to openly gloat in recent times. We are slowly getting our own back...
  17. 😀 The DA will need a lot more paper and tape for a few more milestone banners. We can add these players: 200: Hibberd, Gawn, Grundy 150: Neal Bullen, Langdon, Lever, 100: Spargo I assume you will claim the Landon 'graphic' to sit along side the 'cut out' of Hunt that miraculously survived the public transport system!!😀
  18. Anyone else think it odd that Dangerfield claims their problem is confidence? cats-have-hunger-but-lack-confidence-says-dangerfield Lack of confidence after a couple of losses that followed 16 straight wins and a premiership. Doesn't wash for me!! More likely this - from Cameron about start of preseason again “...skin folds were over 120. All you think about is beer fumes and just food, that many Maccas burgers and hash browns, egg and bacons,” Cameron said on the Tommy Talks podcast...I still haven’t looked the dietitian in the eye.” kane-cornes-says-geelong-cats-are-satisfied-premiership-hangover-jeremy-cameron-preseason-comments Self satisfied with their flag and that they proved the point 'dad's army wasn't past it. That cliff is one year late but it has arrived!!
  19. So what happened to the 'upgrade' of penalties in week 1 to Pickett and McAdam for 'potential to cause damage'. Logue and Acres got one week with no 'upgrade'. Its one thing for the AFL to 'take a stand' on a principle ala Pickett and McAdam but then to drop it a few weeks later is farcical! More importantly it sends completely the wrong message to players.
  20. Bigfooty: Not much to report so far. Understandably they are preoccupied with their injuries and replacements. There appears to be some new injury outs that haven’t been reported in the media yet. They are expecting at least 5 and maybe 7 injured players from last week to be 'forced' changes. I detect resignation more than doom. There was still room for a bit of humour by a few posters. Well, everyone who wanted the over 30s out in lieu of playing the kids got their wish... If culley doesn’t get a game I’ll spew Lets do a Sam Mitchell Cleansing now get ready for Mid Season draft and then End of Season/Draft & Trade. We aren’t beating Melbourne. Melbourne will easily be the shortest price favorites for the round. What was the injury to SPS? Been real good in the two games he’s played… …s**t haircut I have a morbid excitement to watch this weekend with the forced youth policy. The emotional part of me says I've well and truly had a gutful of these highly remunerated but often absent 'credits' boys and can the lot of them. The more rational part says if we chuck out ALL the oldies then we're asking for the pain that Hawks/Norf are currently going through and in the past Melbourne/Carlton have experienced. What concerns me about this week is that with no rotations in the 4th quarter last week you can bet that those that were left were being pushed in the "red zone" as the sport scientists call it. In other words being more vulnerable to injury.. someone ******* throw this medical department out, enough is enough. Fritsch is the one I see causing us big problems. I don't see a good match up for him. My favourite: Oh dear, playing Melbourne ... Waterman would be great in a good team I'll check in again later in the week after selections.
  21. Based on Goodwin's post game pres conf I would guess his votes to be: 5 - Oliver 4 - Grundy 3 - Langdon 2 - Petracca Which means Longmire's votes would be 5 - Petracca 4 - Oliver 3 - Langdon 2 - Grundy Can't guess the 1 votes. NB: Pure guesses!
  22. Aww shucks, my head will soon swell 🙃 from compliments. Thank you 🙃
  23. Because I didn't notice him😲 Fixed!
  24. Votes: 9 - Oliver 7 - Petracca 6 - Langdon 6 - Grundy 1 - Hunter 1 - Chandler Not surprised a Sydney player didn't get a vote. Split: 5/4 - Oliver 5/2 - Petracca 4/2 or 3/3 - Langdon/Grundy 1 - Hunter 1 - Chandler Leaderboard: 20 Luke Davies-Uniacke NMFC 20 Jordan De Goey COLL 18 Nick Daicos COLL 17 Tim Kelly WCE 16 Mason Wood STK 15 Darcy Parish ESS 15 Callum Wilkie STK 14 Marcus Bontempelli WB 13 Harris Andrews BL 13 Izak Rankine ADEL 12 Toby Greene GWS 12 Clayton Oliver MELB 12 Christian Petracca MELB 12 Matt Rowell GCFC 12 Luke Ryan FRE 11 Jeremy Cameron GEEL 11 Nick Larkey NMFC 11 Jake Lever MELB 11 Callum Mills SYD 11 Mason Redman ESS Our guys have some catching up to do. Reckon Matt Rowell might rise up the leader board fairly quickly.
