I read somewhere that the club will only trade Watts if they get an extremely good deal. Good to see the club putting a high price on his services. Also, you just don't easily trade a player who 'desperately' wants to play for your club. That desperation may just be enough to be a player who plays 'desperate' football. Go Jack. Go Dees. May it be a long and happy marriage.

Its a 'Personal Message'. If you click on your name 'chook fowler' at the top right of the of the page you will see the words 'Personal Messager'. Click on it and its like an email system within the Demonland Family. (copies of PM's go to your 'real' email address as well. Hope this helps. Edit: I have just sent you a PM as an example, you should see a '1' lit up on the envelope icon at the top right of any Demonland page.

Thanks 'Adam', you've been a great sport sending all the PM's...and prompted some fun posts as well. Cheers.

Dawes' contract would have been greatly front ended so his salary next year shouldn't be a problem. If we had to cover any of it it would be quite small and it would be worth it so that we can get another deal done (as I doubt the club would be trying to get a draft pick for him).
-
In another thread it was noted that Ess are interested in Dawes. So maybe he is part of the Melksham trade eg our 3rd rnd pick + Dawes for Melksham. It is hypothetical but I would do that deal in a flash! Much better than giving up our 2nd rnd, we move him while we have the chance (very hard to do when he is OOC next year) and we free up salary cap. Win/win.

Not really Song. Most of us got the PM yesterday!!

THREEPEATS - WE STILL LEAD THE FIELD
Lucifers Hero replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I find that quite surprising! I would have thought every club would get its players (at least its leadership team) to as many GF as possible. Partly to make them hungry and partly for them to experience the atmosphere and hype so that when they get there is a bit of familiarity. Not to mention they might learn a thing or two about finals football. WCE looked a bit overwhelmed yesterday...many of them had never been to a GF either! At least we got Jesse there yesterday in the 1st motorcade! -
Freo would have to think long and hard before they take him. They couldn't turn bad boy Sylvia around so don't like their chances with Bennell. Sylvia was an angel in comparison and didn't cost them anything; GC will want a 1st rnd pick for Bennell Buyer Beware!

All this noise about $$ just makes him look very mercenary. Surely, he realises a club wants to know he is passionate about them and what he brings to them. Convince them you love where their club is going and that you will work your butt off to get there and the $$ follow. His manager has led everyone a merry dance all year, time to end the charade. And if JH only cares about $$ he is not a good fit for us.

At least someone remembered to celebrate Adam Goodes on Grand Final day: A Lap Of Honour For Sydney Swans Legend Adam Goodes It's left up to a newbie, obscure mag. The 'lap of honour' photos are terrific and say a lot about the man. It will be interesting to see if the AFL does anything during today's motorcade to recognise him. It will be a shame if he 'goes quietly into the night'. A final goodbye is greatly deserved.

With the Mighty Dees in the 8 just like Port 2013 and doggies 2015

That is great news for us...I guess that means he will be with us till end of 2017? Or is that till end 2018? If he signed more than a week ago it shows McCartney was awake to EFC's faux selection process! I'm glad Macca isn't going there. He is too good for them. They wouldn't hesitate to take him in then spit him out if it suits. They have form: Sheedy, Knights, Bomber and (thankfully) Hird. Talking of coach selection processes. How well have Adelaide handled it! Both the selection of the late Phil Walsh and the apparent appointment of Pyke were clear targetting of a candidate. They got their men. No faux, media spin process for them. Great respect for Adelaide this year.

Is that a connection to the article referred to by 'Pink Freud' in the 'Luke Parker' thread?

You have a bit of cheek 'rjay'...telling the erudite man of letters, how to structure a paragraph! I do agree tho, I like Ernest's posts but some spacing etc will help.

2015 Player Review - # 5 Jimmy Toumpas
Lucifers Hero replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Apparently Port are talking 3rd rnd; we are talking 2nd. Even tho he hasn't had a good time of it he is still one of my fave players so like others, I would love to see him be given another year. We Certainly can't let him go for next to nothing - their 3rd rnd will be around pick 50! The warm to hot rumours are we get Kennedy and Melksham and lose Howe and Toumpas. What the net result with picks is I have no idea. I sure hope our recruiting/coaching team pull a few rabbits out of the hat because I feel incredibly underwhelmed. I hope we land that 'big fish' otherwise I can't see much net improvement next year. -
2015 Player Review - # 5 Jimmy Toumpas
Lucifers Hero replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Re the comments on this being a shallow draft. From what I have read it is 'shallow' after the top 6-10. So the #10 to #25+ are perceived to be relatively even with very good players available in that range So 'shallow' doesn't mean 'poor'. This may result in more 'strategic' trading of picks than in past years as Clubs drop themselves down the pecking order. Going into the trade/draft with pick 6, 24, 25 and #20 something for Howe, is a strong position to be in. -
Seriously, they weren't the only ones! Remember the medical (drug test) records, that turned up on a street in Ivanhoe, of AFL players from a nearby club? Who did the only AFL player suspended for 3 strikes play for? Remember the anti Nick Davis vitriol when he spoke up about drugs in the AFL All this happened in the mid 2000's. What has been reported today about WCE has been known for a long time. Its just another low life act by the HS to try and unsettle their team and get Hawthorn over the line tomorrow. I bet the HS have a heap of stories in the closet to do a 'beat up' when it suits...Harley Bennell story for example.

2015 Player Review - # 5 Jimmy Toumpas
Lucifers Hero replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I can't get behind HS's paywall but this is the intro: 'MELBOURNE’S wretched run with top draft picks is set to continue, with Jimmy Toumpas being chased by a trade-hungry Port Adelaide'. Power have shown they are fair traders and play the trade game with goodwill so if Power are doing the chasing we may get a good value trade. -
Both the Dees and EFC had horrendous seasons during his 4 years as a Mentor/Director. Not saying he was at fault but it is clear he wasn't able to affect the performance of the coaching groups. Not sure how or why Carlton expect a different result. Good luck to them...may they spend many more years anchored at the bottom end of the ladder. It may be karma's way of punishing them for 'not tanking' and not 'bringing the game into disrepute'. On topic...can't wait for Worsfold to be appointed so we are certain to have Macca for at least another year.

2015 Player Review - # 5 Jimmy Toumpas

After all the pages on DL devoted to 'we should have taken Wines over Toumpas' and Port end up with both of them... ...ha ha...the ultimate irony!! Only at Melbourne! -
2015 Player Review - # 3 Christian Salem
Lucifers Hero replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
At first glance this is a 'feel good' article about Salem. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2015-09-30/salem-no-longer-hamstrung-by-injury But some things I found interesting about his hamstring injury: -he pulled up sore after week 6. -the next week (7) he tore his hamstring when he played on: "Brad Hill, Cyril Rioli and Paul Puopolo in that first quarter...they were coming on fresh each time [off the interchange] and just blew me up.” -Then Salem says: “Looking at the GPS numbers a couple of days after the game I did more long distance sprints in that first quarter than a normal game average for me, which is ridiculous.” -And: "After reinjuring his hamstring again at training..." It surprises me all the coaches/medical staff couldn't see he was doing a lot of long distance sprints against fresh players...do they really need a GPS to tell them? And why wasn't he getting rotations, especially after being sore, a 2nd year player and playing on speedy players? And why were we told the 2nd hamstring injury was in the 'other' leg not the same hamstring? Maybe we weren't as conservative managing young players as we should have been. -
...TDI...with fan boy comments for the players and vitriol for disagreeing posters! If it is Saty I will really cop it now!
-
Buddy! And if there is any truth to the rumours surrounding both players their OM is almost identical as is the path to the current eerily similar predicaments.
