  1. Love what Roosy has and is doing...and love his pull in the media. Love the respect with which he is held and that he came here in the first place. But....to say " the players dont listen" like he had didnt have any power in the box and via runners is dumb.
  2. with Vanders out Viney is the last player we can lose. Heres hoping.
  3. I think we wont hear about the true nature of Frosts injury til the membership window closes. Bad news affects sales etc. But it seems a safe bet to say its def not a broken toe.
  4. I feel the same rpfc but It occurs to me that the players do too. which explains why Roos says some are scarred. Neeld and schwabb almost destroyed our club...im still not sure if we're going to make it out of the emergency room
  5. I see Frost is now listed at 6 weeks. Which some might say is an improvement on 4-6! But either way it must be way more than a broken toe. Anybody know anything about the real nature of his injury?
  6. Dawes is a must. Not just because of all the good things being said about him here, but if we want to make the transition easy for Hogan having someone like him around is invaluable.
  7. Point taken. I guess being a low drawing, shite side we're always going to be one of the teams in the gun for Geelong at Geelong. ... and thinking further I guess we get "given" the queens bday game and perhaps thats part of the deal. I dunno really but Im with you Curry it IS unfair. Its just that so much of the game ( from the fixture, to the blockbusters, to stadium deals, to the advertising dollar etc etc) is unfair these days its hard for me to get angry about it anymore. I just think when we're a better side, we'll draw a bigger crowd and hopefully not continue to be given the short straw in these things.
  8. Sadly the Bulldogs, North and St. Kilda have all been a fair bit better than us. Which is pretty damning isnt it? I seem to remember a Friday night game against Geelong in the rain about 6 or 7 years ago and us getting done by the regulation 100+ points of the era. Since then I don't think we've had them back there. If we start improving, and all signs are good, then lets see what happens. A home and away game for each club is the only FAIR way to do it but a level playing field is turning more and more into a fairytale these days.
  9. Hope is a dangerous thing to have as a demon supporter isn't it. As soon as I have any in the bank its get raided. So disappointing, as watching him progress and hopefully debut was going to be one of the really enthralling aspects of 2015. At least its just a knee and he doesnt need a heart replacement like Scully...or Morton....or Cook...or Gysberts or.....ahhhh Im just depressing myself.
  10. Anyone got any news of increased penalties, or the club being banned or life suspensions? Just came off the Petracca site and I need something to make myself feel better.
  11. yep so true. The media wasnt on our side or wasnt paid to be or we didnt have key journos that barracked for us. On top of which we didnt have the money to go the legal distance like the bummers. Its another way the uneveness of the competition expresses itself. From all we've read so far it really does seem that tanking was a bigger sin than performance enhancing drug taking.
  12. Interesting. Can you recall any of what you read?
  13. Ive been trying to figure out what this announcement actually means in practical terms? Anyone got any clues.
  14. Not to mention that the club would no doubt be exerting at least SOME pressure for them to take that option. Ryder and Monfries could be the difference for them between a flag and being also rans. Its not Ports fault that Essendon ran a drugs program, so why suffer for a rivals mistake. Tough call for the two players but tbh I think the Essendon players are going down anyway.
  15. we've all suffered over the years re the dees. It goes without saying. But FFS we're not a club that can afford have too many "passionate" supporters signing up only in the good years.
  16. After the last few years when almost everyone that mattered left at the fist chance, it was just such an important signing. One club players like this, at sides (like ours) that are both lower profile and have lower success may become rarer and rarer. Nathan Jones enters a rarefied world at MFC with this....and he restores some of my pride in the joint. Love him.
  17. Peter Jess, representing Lovett-Murray on possibly suing AFL. Jess claims senior AFL figures breached their duty of care to the “Essendon 34” by failing to intervene in the club’s ill-fated 2012 supplements program. “This saga should never, ever have reached the position where it is today,” Jess said. “The AFL has been negligent, absolutely from start to finish.” I continually find myself choking on my breakfast cereal when I read this stuff. Essendon of course wasn't negligent they're just hard done by, lovable, bumbling record keepers. But wait a minute...they haven't taken anything illegal have they?... so why is he so upset? Just for my own sanity.....Essendon FC organised an ongoing, systematic, drug use program that produced obvious onfield results and perhaps, given muscle growth, ongoing advantage. Negligent YES, Cheating YES. Last time I looked it wasn't up to the AFL to make sure clubs werent using drugs. its the CLUB and the players.
  18. I dont intend this to be a "panicky" thread Pitmaster, but it IS an issue that needs facing. I don't care so much about the junction oval not coming to us. I didnt make it that clearly, but the point I was trying to make was more about the fact that both St Kilda and the doggies are moving on something that secures their long term future and probable prosperity. I just don't feel the same about the way we're structured.
  19. I think they both got behind it. Labour less so but apparantly their also on board now.
  20. I, like most people on the site, am really excited about the draft just gone. So I don't mean to bring the mood down, But I'm still worried about our shared facilities, separated football department and lack of a social club. Its the weakest set up of all the clubs. So, when I read about St Kilda possibly being govt backed to set up at the junction oval ( which was also OUR training ground for about 20 years) in a massive new facility I feel like we may be getting left behind ........again. Footscray is also now going to build a stadium out at Ballarat and play home and away games there probably from 2017 on....with the same kind of govt backing. Im wondering what are game plan or thinking is...or if we have one?
  21. wow thats quite an article isnt it. I'd forgotten what its like to read stuff like that.
  22. I see more a Darren Jarman or even a Jobe watson
  23. Balls about to be bounced in the demons grand final
  24. I have to agree with you but as demon supporters hope is the only currency we have! So I need to get a bit excited, The change, as I see it this year, is that all of the top 2 or 3 have really big bodies. I don't think any of them will get easily pushed around in 2015 and because of that they may well make a mark. Its true that their endurance will be low and their capacity to cope with the speed and pressure of the top level is unknown...so you're right its hard to judge. just when you look at the size of Brayshaw and Petracca it makes me feel a bit different than, Scully, Morton, Toumpas, Watts etc
  25. I wasn't addicted to this site back then lol but, in the mainstream media at least, Martin seemed a clear 3rd. So, for the game of it, if you take out Lever and Petracca...who do u think?
